No. The switch in my room is 1 Gbps. Have no idea about the other switch higher up in the chain and the router. Max those network-connected hard drives give me is 113 MBps.
If you’re into 4K streaming then 10Gbps networking is probably the technology you should be following closely.

Considering that each 4k stream only needs like 24 mbps, I don't think that would help much.

Better to have the overhead. Plus it’s better if you want to run multiple streams. And at some point some mad bastards are going to start flogging 8K videos.

I got 'Forgive me Father' Its kinda neat, the visual style reminds me of Void Bastards, gameplay is not that. The level layouts are kinda like the old 3d fps games, where they are more about... kinda being randomly put together. The journalist's voice acting is really bad, like really really bad, like... the kinda voice acting I haven't seen in a game in like over 20 years.

I don't know, we already have diminishing returns for 4k, like the tech will come but its probably one of those things that isn't that useful for most uses aside from a super big, like 80inch tv.

I never stream. Just doesn't interest me. The only time in the last year was with the 1932 Scarface, which stopped multiple times after the middle. It's 1080p. Had to look at that Vudu loading symbol over and over again. Wished I had never even redeemed it or started watching it that way. I shouldn't be having those kinds of problems with my connection. Too many variables with streaming, including the website/service.

Yes, but UHD rips often go as high as 80 mbps. Django (1966) is the highest I've ever seen, averaging 95 mbps. I don't remember if it ever stuttered in my viewing almost a year ago. Still haven't had any stutter since replacing that power supply. Right now it's at a steady 113 mbps. Hope those occasional falls to around 84 mbps are the network and not the hard drives. Haven't done a detailed observation.

It’s still streaming regardless if the content comes from Netflix or your Plex server dude.

I don't use anything like Plex. Tried that once.

Liked the organization: having the ability to order the library by year and narrow it to actors/directors and such. A lot of my file names are unnecessarily long ("Shining, The [1980, Stanley Kubrick, Warner Bros. UHD-DV]"), which is still more limiting.

The thumbnails were nice, but most Blu-rays come with 640x360 thumbnails that you can attach to the rip, if you don't wanna make your own.

Being able to play media remotely is cool. I mean, it would be cool if that was something I did.

But I don't know why so many people use it to play back their ripped media in their own homes. It's much more resource-intensive than simply using a standard media player. My PC fans got really loud just from searching through my library one time.

HDR doesn't seem to work. Gave me some message about enabling tone-mapping.

Bitstreaming audio was also overly complicated. The options in the app were lacking. I don't think I ever got it to work quite perfectly. Remember the audio not coming through at all a few times.

The synopsis are nice, but I can't imagine ever having so much media that I don't know what I own. Besides, I love watching movies without any idea what they are about.

The user interface during playback was too much like Netlfix. Have to move the mouse to the bottom and click a few times to change an audio track, whereas any media player allows you to just tap a key or right-click anywhere.

I think for some people Plex is a little bit of an e-peen thing.

But you're right, viewing my media over my LAN with Media Player Classic is technically streaming. I thought you were talking about using a service.

Just got back from spending a bit of my tax refund from last year that I finally got. Bought No Way Home, along with this beauty of a vinyl.

I bought tickets to Shen Yun, a Chinese dance production(?). It seems to come to town every year, and every year, my girlfriend sees the commercial and comments that she wants to see it. In a very romantic gesture, I casually picked up my phone, bought GREAT tickets (nearly front row,) and surreptitiously sent her a text with our QR codes. She asked "what's this?" I replied with the confidence of an man who hung the moon only for her "tickets to Shen Yun. April 15th. Great seats." She replied "Oh, thanks" and lit a cigarette.

I'm never doing anything nice for this heifer ever again.

You should have burned the 🎟 in front of her face and gave her true despair. That would have been hilarious.

Given the tickets are electronic, I think the time needed to successfully set my phone on fire would have made that gesture painfully pathetic to watch, particularly since she has the QR codes on her phone now. Also, would cost me the price of a new phone. Never been a fan of a Pyrrhic victory.

I picked up a Logitech G535 wireless headset on clearance from Best Buy. I wanted to use it as my main set, but apparently Windows doesn't support "Loudness Equalization" for USB-based headphones, and I'm too used to it to want to give it up. Still, it lets me listen to videos while I'm doing things like cleaning and exercising where I don't want a wire in the way, so I'm keeping it.

Bought a fair few movies to add to my horror collection, as well as a couple more vinyls. Also, a gamepad for my computer because some games just don't work well on a mouse and keyboard.

My copy of 13 Sentinels arrived today. Kind of weird how none of my usual "go-to" game stores carry it, but bol.com does. Not from an affiliated seller either. And priced under MSRP for some reason. But whatever, not complaining.

A pile of 10p reduced pastries and a £4.50 bottle of pretend Bailey's from my local supermarket. All rapidly consumed.

Classy as fuck.
