So Texas governor Greg Abbott decided that he was going to make it really hard to move shipments across the Mexican border because Mexican agencies weren't kowtowing to his demands.

"There is a sense of urgency now to reach deals that did not exist before," Abbott said, after a week of his policy that one customs agency estimated cost companies $7 million dollars a day due to spoiled food and logistical issues. Oh, and a bonus quote from here:

"The “financial pain” was a necessary consequence to “get the public to insist that their government leaders” take action to curb illegal immigration, Abbott said."

Yep, that's the governor of a state causing millions of dollars in losses in an effort to force foreign agencies to submit to his demands and get his citizenry to "fall in line" with his views. Because brown people bad!
What even better is the end result of his foot stamping and causing another trucker protest (that I'm sure nobody heard about since it was an actual worker protest against undue government interference) was that all but one Mexican state agreed to... do what they had already been doing. The last state did promise more. Said state has about 7 miles of border with the US.

It's unlikely that he cares one whit about the actual results. This is a flag he can wave about how he "stood up to the cartels and the weaklings in Washington" during his inevitable Presidential bid.

Abbott must not have anything else lined up after the governorship. Every day he looks a little more desperate to hold onto office. What a fucko.

I don't think they could've made it any gayer without explicitly showing men plowing each other.
The idiot doesn't realise that many of those who were training with Arnie in the 70s where gay. Because they like looking at men with big muscles

Yeah, Bojo and England has stolen a bunch of terrible ideas from us usually around immigration. A former PM in Australia went to see Trump to convince him of these great 'Aussie' values
I'm not sure this plan to send immigrants to Rwanda is going to survive past the local council elections on May 5th. Because I totally believe the Tories would cook up this steaming pile of human abuse to whip up the anti-immigration vote in the lead up to an election, and then let it quietly die.

In the United States we'd make a big fuss about stopping it, then let it quietly go forward, so I guess you have a marginally better situation.

Florida did a clean out of textbooks:
71 of 128 maths textbooks banned
28 of them for CRT reasons

They rejected 54, not 71.
28 of them were rejected because of "prohibited topics", which includes CRT, but based on what we know from your source could be the explanation for as little as two.

Don't worry, if it wasn't CRT, it was other right wing bullshit based on panic

Ok, why? Did the offending books contain too many non-binary numbers? 0's and 1's should be enough dammit! Or was it all the equal signs?

Or maybe those books presented typical math problems like "Little Susy has 6 apples. If she divided them equally among her friend Johnny and Judy, how many apples would each have?" Can't have those, that's promoting socialism. Susy should've kept all 6 apples, invested them and gotten apple rich. The other two should just pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Now there's a proper American math problem.
