THQ still has it in terms of player customization. They're still ahead of the curb compared to a majority of the AAA games. I am still not interested in the game, but I really do wish them the best of luck.
To be fair, a big draw of SR was always a lot of the crazy customization shit you coudl pull off. Particualrly in SR2 where you could capture Police APCs(because there were no tanks in SR2) and not only upgrade the shit out of it but also give it silly paint jobs.

I'm honestly kinda sad SR3 didn't let you customize the attack helicopters and tanks to crazy extents. Because who doesn't want a Russian Hind helicopter in the most garish paint scheme imaginable?

They will. I know my big brother is going to pick up this game at some point. Whatever happens, with a gun to my head, I would still take this game over GTA V or the future GTA VI. I'll take it over any of the other gtas while we're at it.
I honestly stopped caring about GTA once I discovered SR. SR was basically everything I wanted out of GTA but will a lot less of the BS(Like your buddies/GF ringing you up in the middle of a mission to go do stupid shit). And lets face it, we'll probably have a sequel to the reboot SR before we ever hear anything about GTA6 because Rockstar has their money printer called GTA Online.

I'm still excited for this game. I thought Saint's Row 3 and 4 were awesome and I never got to play the more "grounded" Saint's Row 2. I hope they makes this game as cheeky as GTA used to be before they got too real about shit.
"Grounded" might be a bit much for SR2. It wasn't nearly as balls to the walls crazy as SR3 and SR4 but it was probably a step beyond GTA in crazy shit going on. It was a lot more tonally consistent like GTA tends to be, where the Boss in SR2 was an unrepentant asshole with no illusion of being the hero of this story and even the "funny" stuff could still be fairly dark. One of the plotlines was like a prank war gone horribly wrong, another invovled a Yakuza crime boss was fighting you getting disowned by his dad for his constant failings trying to stop you and eventually getting buried alive because he decided to come personally to fight you at the funeral of a friend he had murdered. He was even warned "Not today. Any other day we'll fight but we are not doing this today" and being the dumbass he was, got buried alive for his rudeness and idiocy.

Also it had one of my favorite mini-games of all time: Septic Avenger. It's basically a rail shooter but you're in a septic truck that has a pressurized cannon on it for some bizarre reason and the entire point is to cause X amount of properly damage by spraying liquid feces at everything along the route. I'm honestly sad that Septic Avenger didn't return for SR3.

If you don't mind playing on PC, you can get it on steam and gog.com.

SR2 didn't even make me quit GTA, because I long already got tired by the time IV released. SR2 just showed how shallow the series was becoming by that point. I was already invested in other games that were either arcade style, something unique, colorful, or plain different. Sandboxes already became tiring, and I cared more about single player games/local- co-op than constant online competitive multiplayer.

Should be noted the pc port of Saint's Row 2 is a complete broken mess, even with all the fan patches, unless you're one of the lottery winners for whom it inexplicably works fine. If you aren't tho, emulating the ps3 or 360 versions might actually be less jank. Make no mistake, still jank af, just less so.

There was apparently a more simplistic chart released at some point.

Why the hell "character animation in the main menu" is DLC for the standard edition, I think I can describe with one word: Greed.
They’d be better off and it would be less insulting to consumers to just release the bloody game at the highest price so that everyone has the same thing. It’s only a fiver difference and all this stupid confusion isn’t worth the hassle. Dividing the player base before a game is even out never winds up going over well.

When I do eventually get the collection, I'm just getting the base edition and that's it. These "extras" are so superfluous, that they add even less than nothing.

Outriders was fun, but defiitely had a hard plateau barely halfway through (nevermind the "endgame") with the gameplay. Not sure how much they changed that in the in-between free overhauls. Some of the details for the expanded progession system seem neat, but also depends if it the missions can really manage to be much interesting cause Expeditions sure weren't.

Really depends if anything else is interesting around June-ish or if my buddies pick it up though.

As shown in the past, Nintendo is not squeaky clean as they like to imagine themselves. They've got their skeletons in the closet too.
Japan has a pretty harsh work-culture in general and based off youtubers like Abroadinjapan and others, the culture is starting to change as the next generation of workers are not as willing to give up their whole life just for the job.

Over the next five years or so, i expect to see a long of these conplaints as well as a general culture shift in Japan to lean towards a better work-life balance.

As such i wouldn't be shocked to see most or all Japanese dev companies hit with this stuff.

It should also be noted that Japan's birthrate is bad, a lot of that is because young people dont have time to fuck each other and make babies, so that is also likely a part for the workplace shift going on there.

Japan has a pretty harsh school culture too. It's not uncommon for Japanese students to commit suicide if they don't do well on entrance exams.

I want to "like" but then it feels like I'm approving of schoolkid suicide for some reason and that just feels icky.

Well that kind of feeds into the work culture right? Good grades mean a good job and a good job means being better off. So hopefully as work culture changes it will loosen up school pressures as well.

Another side of that is what incentive do they even have to make babies? The country’s already crowded as fuck. I get the impression that standing at an intersection in Tokyo for an hour would be a good form of birth control in itself.

In Japan it's statistically more likely for a Japanese citizen to commit suicide than murder someone else.

Do keep in mind though that this complaint was for Nintendo NA, not Japan, so it's not necessarily a sign that things are changing there.

When I said Nintendo has skeletons in your closet I was referring to all divisions.

Sony is getting in on putting ads in their games too. Microsoft aren't the only ones anymore. And with with that, AAA exclusives are now dead to me on Sony. God of War 5 & Spider-Man 2 will be my last one, thank you, and fuck off! Cuz that's the path you are heading, I don't want any part of it. PS5 will be nothing more than a means to an end.
