It's okay, he said he's just a comedian so whatever, nobody believes what he says, despite his millions of listeners, of which a large chunk is probably very stupid and impressionable. But he's part of wider circle that's like that - the whole UFC/MMA circus. As far as I can see, it's mostly gladiatorial combat for people who don't think boxing is violent and crazily right wing enough. It should not be a surprise that modern neofascists high on machismo and militarism should be so into a sport that involves viscerally kicking the crap out of people, and so it is no surprise that the sport enthusiastically caters to that audience in return with conspiracy theory, anti-woke, and overt endorsements for right wing politics (hey, but keep politics out of sport, amirite??)

I do feel like a lot of the time my antagonism towards people attempting to manipulate a narrative and shift a discussion through their use of lgbt or race or gender matters in pursuit of their own aggrandizement is interpreted as me being against those issues themselves and not merely the people exploiting them to ruin the world around us, but I just don't let that sort of doubt bother me, because that's what those people want you to do. They wield public condemnation as a cudgel and intimidate you into silence so you gotta grow a thicker skin and just tolerate their smears. Sure, some rando may think you hate gay people now cause you called out Nike, so what.

No, if you suck the proverbial dick of any particular issue you just give it more power to be wielded against you when it is inevitably abused. The goal should be to have no holy cows. Nothing sacred or beyond reproach, no goal that through championing it someone can lord being a good person over others. All this does is give vectors of attack and limiters on your conduct to people who do not deserve to have them because you just attached yourself to this issue and can now be judged based on how you are faring in meeting up whatever arbitrary standards people put on you and expect out of you. You gain nothing by doing this to yourself.


To not hate gay people you just have to...not hate gay people, you know, in your heart. That's sufficient. No conduct which does not change your feelings on the inside can affect this, and people claiming to know your heart and read your mind based on your conduct are literally delusional.

Sounds awfully like a lazy excuse. So people can act abusive, or act in such a way as to cause demonstrable harm, but if they claim its not motivated by hate then they get a pass? Yeah, nah.

I think you've misinterpreted the 'average' person. Most of them have been attacked for being LBGT etc. They are constantly being attacked verbally and physically (see U-haul van.) And, as American movies have shown, you HAVE to attack bullies...

Me, if I'm going to say something negative, I try to put proviso up as much as I can think to make sure my words don't match up with anti-LBGT rhetoric
