Everyone expected it but still sucks to see it actually happen. At least here in my state they've vowed to make sure it stays legal but a lot of people just received a Death Sentence for the crime of being poor in the wrong state.
I really didn't. @Agema a while back wrote he did while I thought Republicans were just playing lip service to the rubes. This NPR podcast agrees that is the way it WAS. That a single issue voter who is pro-choice could still vote for a pro-lifer thinking on that issue, there was nothing the pro-lifer would or could do with Roe in place. This take on the matter describes changes that made it impossible for the Republicans to continue this game:

Sure, but we can't actually pinpoint what those are specifically. You could do that with religion I guess, but this is the issue here isn't it, people doing things because of their definition of good, but others disagree with that action.

I just wish none of this was on the books. No guarantee of abortion or legal punishment for having one. *sigh*
If abortion is not on the statute books, it is de facto legal. The base assumption is that a person can do anything the law does not prohibit without sanction. The Constitution does not "guarantee" someone can do something, it prevents certain things from being prohibited.

I think an abortion should absolutely be allowed in the case of rape, but I'd rather do something to reduce rape, so women don't have to worry about being raped in the first place.

The funny thing is that even republicans don't fall in line like we think they do, they have their dissenting opinions just like democrats do, look at someone like Liz Cheney who the republicans actively hate right now.
True: but on the GQP side, Cheney will get primary'd and be replaced by someone more authoritarian, who the Republican voters will then dutifully turn out for. If Cheney were a Democrat, and Dem voters didn't like her.. they'd just stay home and she'd be replaced by a Republican.

I don't really know how to get people out to vote. I hate political ads, I hate the random phone calls and text messages. But the left wing has to figure out something. Dems historically do terrible in midterms, and this is an exceptionally important midterm. The left needs to get out and vote, at all levels.

Hate, and fear, is a powerful motivator. Basically everything the republicans do is motivated either by hatred or fear, hatred of other races and classes, fear that they might not be able to retain their priviledged place in society.

Whereas Dems tend to believe that society will tilt towards justice and equality.

Exactly. It leaves whether or not someone uses it purely up to personal desire and societal pressure rather than law officers.

That isn't really how it works. Like look at Manchin, he's gained the most popularity of any politician, his seat is pretty secure no matter what democrats want and if it wasn't then there would be an R there, progressives tried to primary him and lost, hard. We have seen people like Lieberman swap parties, but Manchin still has a D next to his name.

And Manchin and Collins believed them, when anyone with two brain cells that had ever met knew that they were lying and that there would never be any repercussions for it if they were installed to the court.
I disagree. Manchin and Collins knew these fucks were lying under oath. They just don't care.

I mean, step one would probably be to stop running candidates who talk about how much they loved Ronald Reagan. Might energize the left a bit

illegal in my home state effective immediately. Its so weird to be from both the most secularly religious state and the one who trafficked the most alcohol and grew the most marijuana during prohibition. Very confused bunch. You can guarantee same-marriage and homosexuality will be right behind it in Kentucky, if the supreme court lifts rights.
