My dog has more of a soul in its slightly puckered anus than the entire republican party has.Yeah, I think dogs etc have souls

Amazing the logical lengths people go to to excuse the killing of animals, up to and including the invention of a completely undetectable but nonetheless absolutely essential component of any life worth protecting (the soul).I think these people are confused.
Nobody said a fetus had a soul, only that it is alive. You can be alive without a soul, you know, like how all animals besides humans are alive.
Real simple. If someone wants to have an abortion, that's up to them to decide. Not my business to tell someone they can't.Out of curiosity, what are the actual opinions of everyone here on abortion? Are you hardline yes or no? If not, where in the middle ground do you land and are there any situations you feel are finicky to think about and hard to judge?
Second this. Not my business to tell people what medical procedures they can and can't have.Real simple. If someone wants to have an abortion, that's up to them to decide. Not my business to tell someone they can't.
I prefer to not have an opinion.Out of curiosity, what are the actual opinions of everyone here on abortion? Are you hardline yes or no? If not, where in the middle ground do you land and are there any situations you feel are finicky to think about and hard to judge?
No according to christianity only humans do, animals don't go to heaven sadly. (played a big part in eventually turning agnostic cause I grew up with a boxer)Yeah, I think dogs etc have souls
Depends on the Christian you ask. My family believes dogs have souls at any rate.No according to christianity only humans do, animals don't go to heaven sadly. (played a big part in eventually turning agnostic cause I grew up with a boxer)
Same. I don't have a womb, it's not my decision.Real simple. If someone wants to have an abortion, that's up to them to decide. Not my business to tell someone they can't.
They aren't confused. Even the most Orthodox of Jewish factions uphold the right to an abortion under more lenient circumstances than the harshest of anti-abortion laws being proposedI think these people are confused.

Isn't there a part of the bible that a human doesn't get a soul until its born? That even during an active labor, until the baby emerges, its still soulless.I think these people are confused.

Hell in orthodox christianity (and as an outcrop of high rates of infant mortality during the bronze age) you don't even name babies until they're half a year old, which is when you baptize them and in that process they're supposed to get their soul, so it's not as if christian opposition to abortion is for soul-related-reasons.
Available on demand up until the foetus can be considered a person. Where that line is, I don't know, and judging by the variety of limits used in various countries, it seems people are in disagreement on when that is (though that probably reflects politics more than medical opinions).Out of curiosity, what are the actual opinions of everyone here on abortion? Are you hardline yes or no? If not, where in the middle ground do you land and are there any situations you feel are finicky to think about and hard to judge?
IIRC, there are several parts of the Bible that say things like that, though often contradictory.Isn't there a part of the bible that a human doesn't get a soul until its born? That even during an active labor, until the baby emerges, its still soulless.
I mean the Bible, as a cohesive book, as a moral guide, is just a mess. Its very clearly just a loose collection of vaguely related desert nomadic tribe tales about not raping your daughter or the donkey, cut with stories about how your cousin's friends ex-boyfriend's uncle's boss's boss's daughter's piano teacher pinkie pie promises she saw an angel once after eating rotten fruit and a half dead squirrel and the angel had eleven heads and fourteen bat wings and was on fire and had tits and told the piano teacher she's the new president.IIRC, there are several parts of the Bible that say things like that, though often contradictory.
Her really speaking it's a first breath sort of deal. Fated individuals and prophets tend to be a bit more hands on, but fated individuals and prophets aren't under threat of abortion either, due to the whole fate and/or prophecy thing.IIRC, there are several parts of the Bible that say things like that, though often contradictory.
How would there be abortion clinics in states that ban it?Nothing is private
The problem is, some states are apparently going to be passing laws banning interstate travel for purposes of an abortion. That's where the concern for this comes in.How would there be abortion clinics in states that ban it?
Wouldn't such a thing fall under the purview of the federal government? The problem is, some states are apparently going to be passing laws banning interstate travel for purposes of an abortion. That's where the concern for this comes in.
The donkey, no, but raping/allowing to be raped/being raped by your daughter/female relative/female you are in power over does have Biblical precedent.I mean the Bible, as a cohesive book, as a moral guide, is just a mess. Its very clearly just a loose collection of vaguely related desert nomadic tribe tales about not raping your daughter or the donkey,
They are also going to monitor period tracking aps for the same reason.Nothing is private
On a not totally unrelated note, before the US civil war, a lot of states that didn't allow slavery did allow slave catchers to catch black people suspected of being runaway slaves (not many questions were asked about how you knew they were a runaway slave), and made it a crime to help escaped slaves (or even not report a black person you thought might be a slave). The problem is, some states are apparently going to be passing laws banning interstate travel for purposes of an abortion. That's where the concern for this comes in.
