There's something about both trailer and the project that makes me uncomfortable, a little stomach sick. It feels voyeuristic and a little too glitzy. I think my biggest problem is that Im not sure what the purpose of this is. I can sorta tolerate those affirming biofics that hype up what an important figure elton john is and reintroduce audiences to their music or cinema, but Marilyn Monroe was essentially Hollywoods first pound of flesh. She had a crap life and I dont understand what the purpose is of digging up her corpse and have it prance around the screen so we can oogle at it and say "wowee ana de armas is a sexy MM!".

idk, I hope the film turns out to have some redeeming factor. I think about other films about tragic figures and they usually have some important historical event or story thats worth telling, I just dont see why we need another glamorous hollywood autopsy of a hollywood abuse victim. Is Hollywood gonna highlight the ills of hollywood in the ending credits with some forlorn " boy its a shame how she was treated" wiki copy pasta? gee thanks.

One of the comments made some interesting connections -

In case people wonder about how Vincent lost the shootout: Vincent underestimated Max. He went for the mozambique drill (one in the head, two in the chest). You can see the bullet pattern in the door after the lights go back on. The thing is though, Vincent thought less of Max for spending his whole life planning things, being in a routine, and not being able to improvse, yet Vincent dies because of his routine and planned shooting pattern. Vincent breaks Max out of his routine and teaches him to improvise and adapt to the situations throughout the night, and thats how Max ends up winning, taking a chance, improvising, and shooting wildly though the glass.

Thematically, and weirdly enough, Vincent actually saves Max's life by teaching him to take more risks like himself, and ends his own life by falling back on a routine, like Max! There is also the fact that not only did Vincent forshadow his ending with the story about the dead man riding the subway, but Max forshadowed his ending in the beginning as well! He said it twice, actually! Once to Annie, and then to Vincent! How did he make it to each destination on the minute? "I got lucky with the lights!"

Strangely enough, not only does Collateral end at the same train station the Heat begins at, but Collateral starts where Heat ends: at the airport. Plus, how did Hanna win the shoutout at the end of Heat? He got lucky with the lights! Hanna wins with the light turning on, while Max wins with the lights turning off!

Ah, so we're following the same route as the games then, which are like 2/3 reboots in at this point?
Seriously, almost no one cares anymore! Now I got to explain to my mom that the previous reboot is not going to have sequel, and that the franchise is about to be rebooted again. She likes all the Tomb Raider movies, and she wants a sequel to the recent movie that came out a few years ago. But I'm not telling her any of this, till way later.

I watched the first two(the Jolie TR) and didn't think either of them were very good. I didn't care enough to watch the reboot ones with Vikander but maybe they're better? So probably won't care about this reboot either.

I'm just kinda confused why this looks like it had multiple times the budget of Kenobi.

Probably in response to the criticism of Kenobi having a really lower budget. I have not watched the trailer, as I have interest in nearly all things Star Wars.

This show has been in production for a long ass time, so I doubt that. I'm guessing the more likely scenario is they shit out Kenobi prematurely just to fill up a slot in Disney+.

I think the one big thing you'll notice about the Andor trailer is the lack of Jedi nonsense. That's sort of the funny thing about Star Wars. I think hollywood sees the jedi stuff as a kind of a crutch. Like they think as long as it's "about family" and Jedis and legacy blah blah blah they don't have to write a good story. I think in reality it ends up being more of a hindrance. I mean you look at Rise of the skywalker and how much time and energy they have to expend trying to make everything make sense and fit together, but its still a clusterfuck.

Where as you look at something like Andor, from the trailer, this could literally be the plot of some WWII Nazi drama/thriller. theres an opportunity there to just take a good story and slap some star wars overit. Fireworks, everyone applauds. I mean until season 2, ironically when things started going downhill, Mandalorian was just a western bounty hunter show with scifi smeared on it. Coulda fit right into the 60-70s classics, but its got droids in it.

I think that's why it's easy to feel a little more intrigued by Andor and think "well shit this looks like it might be good". Because it's entirely possible it is, and that it also was. This could easily have been some script for a some war drama they just slapped star wars over.

I remember the Russos bros talking about Marvel Winter Soldier and Civil War, saying they wrote a movie first and then figured out how they could fit Marvel stuff into it, eventually, cutting the pieces together until it worked. I've heard similar things about some of the other successful Marvel films. Write a good genre movie first then stir in the property stuff. I hope thats true of Andor and I hope Marvel/Disney start learning how to put story first.

Going on a tangent, the practical effects and sets look killer. I think thats always been the biggest thing with me. As a kid being able to hold the toys in my hands and grasp onto the story as though it were reality. Practical effects make a far bigger difference than studios think...at least imo.

Will Smith released an apology video and it looks like it hasn’t gone well

First off, whatever personal problems he has had over the last few years seem to only be exacerbated and compounded by his, well they’re supposed to be called “better half” but I’m not so sure that’s even true.

I honestly just don't care. You did nothing wrong, but I can't believe I said that about Will Smith. I really just don't care anymore. I stopped caring years ago. Will Smith: do everyone a favor, and just stop talking, take a break, and sit your butt down and recover somewhere for a long while.

Idk why anyone thinks he needs to apologize. Rock insulted his wife so he went up and slapped him and Will Smith also happens to be a weirdo. While it might have been surprising, I doubt Rock cares or found it undeserving. Smith rose to superstardom in life pretty early, I generally get the impression though he's matured in some ways, he's still very underdeveloped in others. Not surprising that he'd do something bizarre like this.

The funny thing is Chris Rock didn't actually even insult her, it's been pointed out, he was talking about a completely different subject and she just thought and assumed it was all about her. Either way it was immature on Jada and Will's part, even if Chris Rock was talking about her.
