Also, why the fuck are we talking about Hunter Biden? Did he announce he was running for something recently? Or is this another attempt to throw shit around for reasons?
Because the real story here isn't about Joe Biden or even about Hunter Biden. The real story is about the intelligence community and mass media mobilizing and coordinating to misinform the public about an issue because it might have hurt the Democratic Party.
I have no hesitance meeting in the middle on the laptop itself, the middle being "yes, it's likely authentic, but it's also politically irrelevant." At this moment in time, I think you have to be either foolish or misinformed to think the laptop was fake information. It is also true that it hasn't really implicated Joe Biden at all, other than just in Hunter Biden's words, which really can't be trusted. If anything, the tales of Biden's horrible family members make Joe Biden himself a more sympathetic figure. Just about everyone knows what it's like to have a family member screw up, to watch someone you love just make terrible decisions and not really have any power to stop them. I don't think the laptop hurts Joe Biden at all.
And yet
the intelligence community stepped in to assure the public that the laptop was just Russia trying to interfere in the election to benefit Trump again.
Zuckerberg has said the FBI told them to stop the story from spreading on Facebook, and we're finding out that
the Department of Homeland Security is telling social media sites what to throttle regularly. Maybe it's not even really about Joe Biden, per se. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Democrats had just spent 6 months impeaching the President of the United States on the claim that Trump was trying to blackmail Ukraine into doing a phony investigation into Biden's family. A laptop of evidence for the subject of that hypothetical investigation, Hunter Biden's shady overseas business dealings, is likely far more damning for the Democrats who impeached and the investigators who supported that effort than it is for Joe Biden.
You should be mad at this. You all should be mad at this. I don't think many people here are particular fans of Facebook, or Twitter, or the FBI, or the US Intelligence Agencies. I don't think all of you would defend them in many contexts. And in this context, those groups coordinated to deceive the public, to deceive you, and you believed them. You should be mad that you were lied to, and yet the general sentiment here seems to be "well, as long as they were trying to hurt Republicans, I don't care".
