I can kinda appreciate the teenage behavior of the turtles, but they sound like 13 year old teenagers, which is... a little grating. Hopefully they put as much effort into the action as they did into writing quips.
And in this version, April is black (unless this is the same version as the first black April, which would be confusing). Sorry, couldn't resist pointing it out. What does Hollywood have against redheads? I'm mostly joking, but it sure does feel like a disproportionate number of race swapped characters were redheads.

April was already black in the original comic books. She is mulatto in the comics and based off of Eastman's then girlfriend at the time. April has brown hair in the 1987 version. Crimson red hair in the 2003 version. Orange red hair in the 2012 version. Black in the Rise of TMNT series and movie. But yeah, I did seem to notice that as well when it comes to race swaps recently. More so among the females. At least April was already a person of color to begin with. So if anything, she's been "whitewashed" (using it as a joke here) the most.

I think the MSN article has some good points but the headline is clearly designed to be sensational and court controversy.
That's a trend I've been noticing since the 2014 turtles. Give Donnie glasses or high tech cool goggles later on. In Rise, I think he wears glasses too. Though apparently, that was an idea done in concept before, but never fully implemented until later on. One of the later live action Turtles movies in the '90s that never happened, was supposed to give Donnie some glasses or type of goggles in the concept design. Of course that was very implement it in the next set of live action movies and one of the animated shows.
Haven't gotten the chance to see this yet, due to some personal things going. I'll try to catch it on the weekend.
