In your case, I feel you're better off with Dead Space Remake.Damn it, now I'm having a dilemma between this and Dead Space Remake
Maybe. I mean I never got to try any of Team Ninja's soul like games, so I have no idea what I'm expecting going into this.In your case, I feel your better with Dead Space Remake.
It's a Team Ninja game, so expect it to be tough. Did you play any of the modern Ninja Gaiden games? I'm mainly referring to Black/Sigma, II/Sigma 2, or 3: Razor's Edge. Note that TN's newest title relies heavily on parrying, similar to Sekiro, but even more demanding.Maybe. Yep. Port is not the best. Stick with the consoles, if you got'em.Also, there are lot of reports and complaints about how shitty the pc port is on steam. Hmmm....
Nioh and especially Wo Long are really not at all alike other TN games like the Ninja Gaiden games, those are closer to like...DMC and Bayonetta than anything, you get a bunch of crazy combos and magic and cool items and you can run on the walls and random assholes kill you in 2 hits. Team Ninja games come in a lot of different styles. Hell, they even made a Metroid game a while back.Maybe. In souls games parrying is more of a playstyle (like magic or archery) than a core mechanic that works in all playstyles such as a the dodge roll. If you don't specialize in it with your char build it is a detriment to go for it, and blocking is really good too and can be used in a variety of playstyles thanks to the many types of shields, some in the form of shield spells and so on, so it is more the norm than the exception to go through souls without parrying if you are playing a char that isn't intended to be parrying (buckler with dagger and dex up the wazoo basically).Well if I needed anymore reason not to play this (aside from not finding nioh to my taste and not liking the direction soul combat went in), I hate parry as a concept, managed to go trough all of the soul game (except for Sekiro) without using it. Sekiro I used as little as I could but I didn't finish the last boss (despite doing the harder optional boss, but they can be done without parry, unlike the final boss).
I generally try to follow the storyI'm totally fine with this since FROM is probably the only developer in the world that deserves to have a pupil from a legendary rank But they should've just named it Nioh 3, who cares about the story anyway...
Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I don't know the overall plot either, but that's the setting it takes place in.But sadly, half of the time it feels like random historical name drops and disjointed scenes ( talking solely Nioh 1 - 2 here, haven't played Wo Long )

Meanwhile think of a more aggressive-focused souls game with full on Japanese themes as far as Nioh goes, it's very grounded and has a stance system and a lot of the souls conventions like a bonefire-esque system with respawning mobs and so on, and basically Sekiro 2 set in China for Wo Long. Not too deep into the game yet but basically the idea is you are playing as a man-shaped wet paper towel so you can't be taking hits, gotta parry the world.

Though Wo Long is not like Nioh, it's way less aggressive than that. Much closer to sekiro.
My point/question is, If I liked Sekiro's parrying system enough, would I like this game? Anything lost for dying multiple times? It's a Team Ninja game, so expect it to be tough. Knowing you, probably yes.point/question is, If I liked Sekiro's parrying system enough, would I like this game?
Other than your own patience and time, I don't know. You're going to have to check out a couple of reviews.Anything lost for dying multiple times?
Yeah if you liked Sekiro you'll be at home here. It's my favorite fromsoft game and I'm loving wo long too.My point/question is, If I liked Sekiro's parrying system enough, would I like this game? Anything lost for dying multiple times?
You lose moral, as you progress through the level and activate flags your moral increases, as your moral goes higher the enemy gets weaker. Loosing lowers your moral and raises theirs. So the biggest price to pay is that you're forces to play better to get to the same place as last time.My point/question is, If I liked Sekiro's parrying system enough, would I like this game? Anything lost for dying multiple times?
The game is not open world, it's way more linear, now, I don't think that's inherently bad, but it is what it is. It doesn't play much at all like Nioh though, way closer to Sekiro, you have to parry stuff for your life. One of the criticisms I'm seeing in reviews is textures, level design, limited enemies, etc- basically everything outside of the excellent combat.
I like the look of this game and love love Sekiro (favorite combat game of all time) but that plus the fact that I HATED Nioh when I tried it means I'll hold off on this for now, and pick it up when I have time, money to waste, or re-up on GamePass or something.
Which Ninja Gaiden reboot game?Black/Sigma, II/Sigma 2, or 3: Razor's Edge. I'm assuming you are referring to the first game. Also, it has that same terrible feel of that Ninja Gaiden remake I tried to play where like everything feels it's right angles.
The controls ain't that bad. Yeah, it's an old game, the main problem is the lack of a manual lock-on. Something that persisted for the rest of the series. If anything, the controls got better the updated ports, but lack of a manual lock-on is a huge issue. Even low-budget games like No More Heroes, Oneechanbara, and Killer Is Dead have a manual lock-on.Anyway, everything in that NG remake felt stiff and awkward, but I paid it no nevermind 'cause it's an old game
That Castle Superbeast video I posted a few weeks ago did give a heads up on the flaws. The game is love it or hate territory.Whatever annoyances with Sekiro, moving felt fluid and intuitive, and the parry system with posture made everything feel like a proper visceral duel.
Wo Long's shit core mechanics makes everything feel so arcady and cludgy.
Plus the timings for everything is confusing. I'm at the second phase of the boss fight and I swear I do the same exact thing against his big telegraphed COUNTER THIS MOVE TO WIN and it's like 50/50. It's one of those things where I figured out what to do after the second attempt at the fight and the mechanics are not letting me f***ing do it!
I may keep trying to beat that boss out of pride, or not, but so far, I'm kind of hating this game.
Whichever is on GamePass, I dunno.Which Ninja Gaiden reboot game?Black/Sigma, II/Sigma 2, or 3: Razor's Edge. I'm assuming you are referring to the first game.
Sigma it is. My older brother has it on Game Pass, so that's how I know.Whichever is on GamePass, I dunno.
Right.. I didn't watch it before I played 'cause I wanted to go in fresh but I listened to it yesterday and while he's exaggerating a bit, of course I mostly agree with him. That Castle Superbeast video I posted a few weeks ago did give a heads up on the flaws. The game is love it or hate territory.
