I guess it's probably better to say the year had a rough start
Depends on where you look and section of the gaming industry you're looking at. AAA? Same old, same old for the most part. AA, indie, or smaller budget games? They're still having a blast and doing great! We got Hi-Fi Rush, Dead Space Remake, and RE4Remake as excellent starters. Other than AC: Mirage and Starfield, most of the other AAA games coming out this year are either going to be good or great. I am more so talking about Japanese side of things than the Western side. Western side still hasn't gotten their shit together, outside of a few select.

No, but that's one detail most wouldn't forget; interests or none. I still have interests in LSA, but it's not like it was when first announced. The long delays, along with the release of DMC5, Bayonetta 3, Hi-Fi Rush the return of 2D brawlers, and the soon upcoming FFXVI, definitely made my interests wane somewhat. All said, I would not mind playing a hack n' slash of different variety. We need more Wuxia style action game not named Dynasty Warriors, Wu-Long, or Bujingai. Bujingai being the best of the three obviously.

That's a stretch and a half. 7 years is a long time, and a lot of shit happens between then and now. Pretty sure "That guy from that action game I saw a trailer for 7 years ago sure looks like Noctis" is very unlikely to be high on the memory priority list
Fair enough, but looking at the comments, most people still remember what the guy looks like. Then again, most of people in the comments are (still) interested in the game. I won't harp on it. The game is about to be 8 years in the making; alot happens.
Once I saw the new gameplay trailer I remembered right away that he looked like Noctis. But it's been yeeeaaarrrs since I saw a trailer and forgot the game even existed to begin with. Had a bit of an "oh riiiiiight" moment once it all came together, and I feel a lot of other people likely had a similar thing happen.
Honestly I forgot the game even existed. I'm kind of over the industry thing where they announce a game and then expect me to care when they tease it again 7 years later and maybe will finally release the fucking thing another year after that. If you expect me to care about a game for that long without even being able to play it, you better be a pretty fucking amazing game and unfortunately Final Fantasy 7 already exists so....
