The phrasing of two of these bother me.
- The A.I. one is just "this thing reminds of these completely other things therefore..." so bad argument. I have other thoughts about A.I. but I'll take this into the hot takes thread perhaps...
The person in the article ain't exactly wrong. You got these corporate douchebags that keep claiming how metaverse, nfts, or AIs we'll replace this, replace people and actual artists, or how much money it anybody can make off of it. When they're all nothing more than charlatans and schemers that cash out immediately, yet still try to fool people into thinking it's a good idea to invest. Just a few months ago they are just trying to say how a i art can replace people who actually do artwork of all kinds.

The Switch sales "slowing down." Well, yeah, it's in the 7th year. Another way to look at it is- wow, a 7 yr old console sold 15 million units, even while competitor consoles are new and more powerful! Impressive!
I think this is gamr nerd culture demanding new toys but most people buy it for their kids and kids just wanna play cartoon games with their friends.
As for Switch sales going down, that's standard for most consoles running that long. All it does it shows that some people are ready to move on to the next thing (immediately).

Gross. I get annoyed when I can't skip the corpo logos on start-up, if a game got between me and playing by shoving an ad in my face like that, I would genuinely alt-f4, uninstall the game and never play it again.
Ok, so my first thought was it was like a full TV/streaming type ad that was full picture. Not as surprised seeing now that it’s just a top banner ad, which they’ve already had there for various in-game DLC content and such. Still sucks, but not outrageously.

Okay, this one actually looks really interesting. Classic b/w cartoon meeting the likes of doom or duke nukem 3d.
Cuphead was apparently an insane amount of work, but I'm surprised more studios haven't tried to do other games with that same kind of art style, even if not hand drawn.

Would be swell if they started development on the world though, wouldn't it?
Who needs a world when you have guns and dynamite?

Not exactly news but makes it official.
On one hand, Boo.

OTOH, the moment it drops I'm going to feel intense FOMO and an intense urge to wrap up anything else i'm playing so this gives me a chance to finish Pathfinder Kingmaker before it drops. Though I think I'm getting close to the end of that.

Aye, I like the idea, but this comes off way too early in development to already show to the wider audience, like pre-production, more a proof of concept demo for use in a pitch. I'm also curious if they plan on making they game cartooney too, and not just look it. For example, that bit where a wall is blown with a stick of dynamite. That's not cartoon logic. Having the weak point stay whole and the entire rest of the wall just fall over. That's old timey cartoon.

Yeah, well, here's what - news may be better than no news, but there's nothing "new" about Silksong being indefinitely delayed.

I don't mind devs taking their time. Games should never be rushed. What I do mind is not keeping up with deadlines and release windows, even when they're framed as generously as quarter years or half years. Team Cherry has really mismanaged comms (and they didn't even make this announcement - some PR guy did on his personal account). For the longest time we had a Q2 2023 release window. To wait this late into that release window just to tell people not only that they're not getting the game any time soon, but without even bothering with a new ETA... sheesh. They can go fuck themselves, a little bit.

Fact is 4 years into development all we have to go on is "indefinitely delayed" and people are somehow celebrating because PR did the bare minimum of PR, like that can only mean the game will be 5% more awesome and not maybe, maybe, an example of mismanagement and sunk cost fallacy.

How would a remake of a fighting game differ from a sequel, aside from I guess smaller rooster?
Could be rebooting the storyline, and trying to get back to basic Mortal Kombat. Could still have expanded fighters or whatever. Who knows.

Either that or they are remaking MK1
While I wouldn’t be surprised at such a trolling effort by Ed, this announcement seems like it’ll be bigger than a remake of any older game. Plus, SF6 is out soon, so anything other than the next proper MK game would be embarrassing on NR/WB’s part.

MK11’s storyline was considered complete, so the clock skipping 12 might denote another reboot vs considering it a continuation from MK11.

I think that doing a brand new storyline, and a soft reset of all the otherworld nonsense would be a good idea tbh. So I would totally be onboard for something like that.

This franchise has already been rebooted three times now. The MK11 Aftermath Expansion sought towards the third time. Street Fighter 4 itself was sort of a "soft reboot", but that was nothing more than saying, "hey, we brought back all the characters from Street Fighter 2! Only until later bring back characters from Street Fighter 3!". Street Fighter 4 was basically a glorified prequel and the same thing with Street Fighter 5 ;just to tie up some loose ends. After Capcom screwed the pooch on your story at the time when III game came out. So now what Street Fighter 6, it actually takes place in the future timeline and after III.

Hmm, a few directions I think I can see EA take:
1. Revamp the gameplay that many have come to love. Because I'll be honest by BF1 the gameplay was getting a bit stale. BFV was a nice attempt but eventually failed and don't even get me started on BF2042.

2. Double down on specialist even further, by making the next game a form of hero-shooter

3. BF game set in future? Jetpacks, wall-running, sliding, etc

4. Competitive shooter like CS:GO or Valorant

5. PvPvE battlefield game

6. Dating Sim
