No sex-positive feminists like me haven't won. Mastercard, Square, and Visa are waging war on everything related to porn. And in my realm of porn which is of a darker, taste they are winning. (by the way, the porn I like is fictional, I despise real porn of real people, and it's legal)

And no liberals your not helping either: https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2018/apr/07/me-too-anti-porn-conference-cosmopolitan-ban

That's some severe projection. Say the laptop's real, Agema. Don't just give me cursing and buzzwords to deflect from your error, admit the laptop's real.
Don't be such a child: you're demanding I defend myself from a accusation that you even admitted you couldn't justify. The laptop is real, although its provenance and potential extent of tampering are problematic.

Here's the difference: racial discrimination, as woke was originally applied to, is a real moral cause. "Racism" as defined as "specifically white people having power or opinions" isn't a real moral cause, neo-pronouns aren't a real moral cause, fat empowerment isn't a real moral cause, Dylan Mulvaney isn't a real moral cause, the majority of the moral crusades by the left in our current time of silliness are haphazard moralities invented to rationalize resentment towards others and perpetual indulgence.
Ah, this would just be your standard semantic trick of making up idiosyncratic definitions for words and acting like everyone else is bound by that.

From the article:

Johanna Fateman, who recently co-authored an anthology of Dworkin’s work, told the New York Times that “Dworkin lost the sex wars so decisively that we can now see beyond her most extreme rhetoric. . . . You don’t have to be afraid that Andrea Dworkin is going to take your pornography away.”

Instead, the “sex positivity” movement has won. Since at least 2013, colleges across the U.S. have hosted hundreds of “sex-week” seminars. While individual feminists’ views on pornography may vary, a 2015 study of data from the U.S. General Social Survey from 1975 to 2010 showed that both men and women with pro-feminist attitudes are more likely to watch porn.

Far from boycotting the industry, however, the more progressive corners of the feminist movement encourage watching pornography. “Viewership is notably growing among women, some of whom are giving porn a second look through a sex-positive lens,” Lucia Graves wrote in the Guardian. (To be sure, some lonely feminists are still challenging the porn industry.)

Academics such as Madita Oeming, a self-proclaimed “public porn scholar” and “sex-work-inclusive feminist,” go so far as to claim that the notion of porn addiction is a fallacy invented by “the media, church and self-help industry.” As Oeming wrote in Vice, “To pathologize certain sexual identities or practices is almost a tradition for us. Porn addiction continues this tradition.”

It seems more like "Some feminists have turned on pornography" but I guess that's not enough of a clickbait title.

Thank you for admitting it's real. Now understand that at least so far as the FBI and IRS are concerned, all your qualifiers are also unnecessary. They've investigated Hunter, they have access to his communication from other means, they know it's genuinely his machine as left at the repair shop. The FBI had the laptop a year before it became public knowledge, and even referred it to the IRS as potential evidence of tax crimes, which they were already investigating.

Like, at the time Trump was allegedly shaking down Ukraine to investigate Hunter Biden, the FBI and IRS were already a year into the process. Hunter got caught up in an IRS probe into a "foreign-based amateur pornography platform" (according to IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley). Read into that what you want, but there are not many above-board reasons to put IRS-relevant amounts of money into foreign based pornography. While people here were saying "sure, Hunter said it could be his laptop, but that doesn't verify any of the contents", investigators were like "we're way beyond that, it's his, and it's old news".

Black people for decades: "Woke is about awareness of racism and discrimination."
Left-wing activists: "We're going to use woke for a myriad of things."
Right-wing pundits: "We don't like your myriad of things."
Left-wing internet: "Right-wingers are being racist again!"

And you're accusing me of messing about with definitions.

Edit: Like seriously:

-Black people can't be racist because racism is prejudice + power.
-America was really founded in 1619.
-A woman is anyone who identifies as a woman.
-Sex is a social construct.
-Capitalism is fascism.
-Communism has never really been tried.

And that darn tstorm keeps making up idiosyncratic definitions for things.

Bullcrap.
Go on, then, let's have the quote. Because I notice that originally, you just said that you were pretty sure Agema hadn't said it was real-- which is obviously not the same thing.

You haven't explicitly said oxygen is real, tstorm, so you must be denying it is.

Did you not notice he was just charged with multiple crimes? The current reporting is that the laptop was ultimately real, untampered before being delivered to law enforcement, and largely irrelevant... because they were already investigating and have mountains of evidence against him. That does not mean it lacks evidence of the crimes, just that it's redundant to other sources of information at the FBI and IRS's disposal, which we notably don't have access to as regular people. So yes, in the public space, it was a unique and accurate sources of evidence of crimes committed by Hunter.
He was charged with multiple crimes, yes-- none of which were related to stuff from the laptop.

Every investigator who has looked at the laptop, including Republicans, have explicitly said there's nothing indicative of a crime on there. Why do you know so much better?

The "progress pride flag". The one that sandwiches very literal black and brown between the traditional rainbow pride flag and the trans colors.
Right, so nothing to do with the "sex parades" of your fevered, homophobic imagination.

I also am curious about this. I mean, I earlier said "Hunter Biden's alleged laptop is a likely Russian plant" when referring to the ex-FBI folks' view, but the "alleged" in that sentence refers to whether the existing laptop is Hunter Biden's, not whether it exists. Unless this discussion is not of the existence of the laptop but the existence of a connection to Hunter or the existence of the wider implications and conclusions.

Is this supposed to make some sort of point? It appears to be a semi-random rant.

Sorry, how is any of that list out of the blue? Every one of those claims are quite common, including on these very forums.* Whether you agree or disagree with the claims is another matter of course.

*In fairness, I've never seen anyone literally claim that capitalism = fascism, but everything else is pretty much verbatim.

Setting aside the drugs and guns and sex crimes, Hunter pled guilty to tax crimes. We now know that the FBI took the laptop and within a month notified the IRS that it contained evidence of tax crimes. Do you not see the connections?

What people were looking for and did not find is a smoking gun tying Joe Biden to international bribes and extortion. If you think it lacked evidence of crimes committed by Hunter, you are deliberately not paying attention.

Agema wants me to spell out my point. I will oblige.

Capitalism is fascism in the perspective of a Stalinist. Stalin's view of capitalism was that it was acceptable only as a brief transition from older systems like feudalism towards communism, and any state that has established itself as an indefinite capitalist economy is actually fascist. I'm not sure if anyone has expressed that view on here, but we have at least one Stalinist on the boards who claims employers are inherently stealing from employees and Russia is justified invading its neighbors, so we'll call that close enough.

The point is that language is malleable, and if you want to talk about people moving away from established definitions, you're criticizing the wrong side of the arguments. I certainly have no criticism of people trying to make words more useful, you just seem to criticize slightly different definitions if they come from me, while having nothing to say about the pile of left wing nonsense definitions that serve only to make communication less effective.

In the specific instance of "woke", left-wingers took a term of specific usage for decades and converted it to a vague sense of support for any issue they cared about. "Woke" changed from "aware of racial discrimination" to "vocally supportive of general left-wing politics" before the right got involved at all. That the right uses "woke" for a bunch of things we don't like is not a right-wing design, that's the definition the left was going with. Only once the right starts using "woke" do you care that it's an infinitely broad term, you have no criticism for the people who changed the meaning of the word to be that way.

On a related and ironic note, Stockton Rush is now the newest entry on the list of naval architects killed by their own invention. Note who his predecessor was

Difference being, Thomas Andrews knew what the fuck he was doing when he designed the Titanic, being a master shipwright.

I do not think Stockton Rush qualifies as the same.

The problem with Biden isn't that he's too left, and or right. It's not that he is blatantly less competent than he seems on the economy. On foreign policy, he's pretty good. Fewer drone strikes in countries that don't threaten us, the Afganistan withdrawal, and the Ukrainian War is going better than most analyst including myself though.

On the economy, he has what I called the Anglo mind worms. He had lots of high-skill immigrants come to the US(still lower than what I would like), and in the beginning, he seemed willing to let in lower-skill immigrants.

So what's the problem, he stopped letting in as many H2Bs(high-skilled immigrants), and a shit ton less low-skill immigrants and still kept them as fourth-class citizens in the US because he was afraid of racists in America that can't think straight. If he had let in more low-skill immigrants vs just letting in higher-skill ones, we could have lower food costs via big agriculture getting more labor, lower housing costs due to more housing being built, and cheaper restaurants. And then their kids could end up going to college and getting a degree in STEM that helps create more Boston Dynamics like robots, or cures a disease, or does XYZ, or if they don't they could work literally anywhere and we wouldn't be facing shortages of everything from accountants to teachers to nurses to family doctors.

Instead, food costs are up, housing costs are high, and life sucks.

You don't have to dig out every thing incorrectly stated about the laptop, just the part where people claimed it wasn't real. If you want some pointers, this thread or this thread is probably where to look.

Sure, getting frequently bullied and beaten up while growing up a meek nerd in South Africa counts as no rules streetfights.
Getting pushed down the stairs in an attack even your dad is like "yeah, sounds like he deserved it" maybe counts. God if he wasn't rich he'd be married to a body pillow that's 3kg heavier because of all the loads he hasn't washed out of it.

Nobody is asking you to dig up "every wrong thing". You said people were denying it was real- a single, specific claim. Yet you can't find it?

Ah yes-- and then the IRS concluded it was barely relevant to the investigation.

You're saying here that all investigators, including the Republicans who investigated the laptop, were "deliberately not paying attention". What massive insights do you have, that you know so much better than the professionals who investigated the content?

If you'd prefer a return to the roots of the things, should you not even more vigorously oppose the corrupted versions?
I don't know if you noticed but that is what I have been doing

I'd note that I can't even get you to understand that just because you have a religious basis for being against abortion, that has nothing to do with you wanting to ban abortions. I can't stop you from wanting to force people into acting how you think they should behave. That you should follow your own understanding of morality and leave others alone. That's a more important issue than definitions of woke.

And I've been told many times that if I yell about issue, I'm the bad guy. Because there is nothing worse than triggered lefties. Because, in these style of debates, it's never about the substance, it's always about the style

What specifically do you think I should be doing? A Quatering-esque style taken down of Capitalism? How will that help?
