Is not Biden also about neck and neck with Trump in not doing anything about the problem? Not a defense of Trump, a condemnation of Biden.
Biden passed some of the biggest bill in the history of the US with the lion share of it earmarked toward green industry, one of the shortfall of the bill is that it didn't properly account for how much green energy would be newly created and now there's a massive queue to get authorization/infrastructure to plug new projects to the grid because of the large uptick in projects. He could potentially do more (although he would need to go very authoritarian territory to do so) but saying he's doing just as little as Trump did is pure ignorance.

My main critique of the left is that their (and my) cynicism involving politics does occasionally blind us to when actually good things happen. Letting perfect be the enemy of good and all that

Biden's also issuing more drilling permits than Trump ever did, as well as auctioning off larger and larger pieces of land to oil companies, so saying he's as problematic as Trump isn't necessarily out of left field.

I know the synopsis of the movie, it's a straight forward good guy versus bad guys story, with some potentially exploitative content which makes it a little questionable, but can be interpreted in good faith given the nature of the issue it's highlighting.

What CANNOT be interpreted in good faith is your pretending ignorance of the context around the movie, its funding, release and target audience, and your typically inane strawmanning "oh so you think child trafficking is okay then?" vomit. That is the only thing I'm ranting about.
So now suddenly films funding matters?

Not the years of Tax avoidance by Million and Billionaires funding UWE Boll films?
Not the CCP funding them to push propaganda and Chinese superiority?

No it now matters because, hold on (Literally googles the funding and distribution)

The studio behind it............ um............. I'm not seeing this far right Q anon funding link. The studio you seem to be thinking of is the one that put out Blinded by the Light and the Gods Not dead films....... that's Pure Flix now Pinnacle entertainment NOT ANGEL STUDIOS.

And the secret right wing funding source to pay for the films distribution and release?

The general public via crowdfunding............ holy fucking shit are you hilariously off base with your claims.

So yeh you're actually just mad about the audience who are seeing this film as worth while it seems.

What claim? That pizzagate is a hoax?
That you were ever not disingenuous.

I mean seriously you're really pulling this shit? You pretending you can't even follow a basic discussion thread now?

I've criticized the people who got control of BLM on here. Also, Bill Gates. 1619 project. The New Deal. Great Society. Michael Moore and Bowling for Columbine

Do you know why you're saying 'Suddenly its the one they have an issue with?' It's got nothing to do with it being 'suddenly'. It's just that you might agree with my other criticism so you don't have to get yourself work up and angry over it. No one fights me over those criticism because 'woke' people like me don't defend undefeatable positions like this

Supporting OUR is just identity politics.

Regarding books and quotes, I want to introduce you to a new concept. It's called advertising. You can easily sell the most crap book on the planet if you just pay for the advertising. All those quotes you claim are being said... those quotes were bought. I do not know if a book has ever been published without some quote saying that it must be read. All movies are 'unmissable' or 'unforgettable' when most can easily be missed and forgotten. The best part about streaming is the reduction of endless ads on Free to Air TV that said you had to watch this show in an hour because it is world shattering. And it will always be crap. It's that natural and prevalent part of Capitalism

OUR has destroyed innocent lives and trafficked children despite preponing to be for getting rid of sex trafficking. I don't know if the MCU has saved any lives but it's already way ahead. By default. I don't see the MCU as a paragon of holiness etc. It's just vapid politics run by a megacorp. Like, I can understand it's bad.. but not sex trafficking bad

Both of these have been criticized heavily and no one likes Uwe Boll.

The lead actor is a Qanon supporter playing a guy who also supports Qanon.

I asked "what claim" and you respond with this?

He is not doing enough, but parts of the inflation reduction act did attack climate change.

What a totally sick **** of a person. And not in the good way.

- During a Republican-led oversight committee hearing regarding IRS whistleblowers connected to a probe into President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, Marjorie Taylor Greene showed explicit photos of the president’s son on posters.

The Georgia Republican held up a series of posters with images of Hunter Biden naked and photos of him engaging in sexual acts at the Congressional hearing on Wednesday.
....

But this is the weirdest bit....

- Florida Republican Byron Donalds came to her defence: “According to @RepRaskin & @danielsgoldman, the explicit images of Hunter Biden presented by @RepMTG are TOO RACY for the Oversight Committee & demanded they go away. These are the same Democrats that want this material IN OUR KIDS’ SCHOOLS. Please spare me the outrage.”
....

So according to republicans, democrats want to show amateur revenge porn to kids as part of the curriculum.

Modern democracy has allowed unhinged lunatics to hold power over the people.

But, people crowdfunding a film are likely to be people supporting the film's message or wanting a movie like that to be out there and therefore if the crowdfunding campaign was promoted by people guilty of wrongthink it's the same as being bankrolled and managed by Gavin McInnes and Enrique Tarrio. Not the first crowdfunded film I've heard that sort of thing argued about.

I'm actually mostly out of the loop regarding this one, aside from knowing a bunch of right wingers act like it's the greatest film of the decade and a bunch of left wingers act like it's one step below Triumph of the Will and it's apparently about child sex trafficking? Given the current climate, that could mean it lands anywhere from "not all pedophiles are straight and cis" to "all Democrats are part of a pedophile conspiracy to traffic children, especially the trans ones" or anywhere in between. What, specifically is so contentious about it so I can go clip hunting and build an actual opinion?

I'm trying to decide if it's Greene or Donalds who's more fucked in the head, but it's coming up a dead heat.

There are two main areas of criticism: content and personnel.

In terms of content: it focuses on Tim Ballard and Operation Underground Railroad, which is Ballard's anti-trafficking organisation. Ballard has made some very suspect claims, including that he raided a "baby factory" in West Africa that was involved in "Satanic ritual sacrifice". This is almost certainly complete bollocks. He also co-runs a non-profit with Glenn Beck, who is (of course) a liar and conspiracy theorist.

In terms of personnel: it stars Jim Caviezel, who is a conspiracy theorist and proponent of QAnon bullshit. In media interviews he has tied the film's message to QAnon claims.

It also counts among its Producers Andrew McCubbins, who is suspected of defrauding Medicare of tens of thousands of dollars, and Eduardo Verástegui, who is an organiser of Mexico's CPAC.

Sick indeed. That should receive some sort of official rebuke or sanction (but inevitably won't).

At a certain level there's irrelevant pornography and profanity being unbefitting to the chamber. But what perhaps bothers me more is that whatever Hunter Biden's many, many flaws, I do not think it is appropriate for politicians to abuse their privileges of office to gratuitously humiliate private citizens.

Tbh I expected way more class from Brit conservatives than trying to defend a poorly written, boring American Evangelical fluff piece "fundraiser" for a wealthy mormon conman who's claims and non-profit charity don't hold up to basic levels of transparency and scrutiny. It's not a hill with a sturdy shelf life to be passionately dying on. There are healthier options to debase oneself these days.

Moving on, totally unrelated updates incoming.

Anyone who bought the painting of Ballard doing a Harriet Tubman might wanna consider the prospect of it soon to be aging much more poorly than it already has.

Tim Ballard, the celebrity anti-trafficking activist whose heavily fictionalized exploits served as the inspiration for the surprise box-office hit Sound of Freedom, is no longer CEO of the Nazarene Fund, the Glenn Beck-backed anti-trafficking organization. The organization confirmed Ballard’s departure as CEO exclusively to Motherboard in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.

“Tim Ballard is no longer the CEO of the Nazarene Fund,” said the statement. “The Nazarene Fund continues to be focused on our mission to Rescue, Rebuild and Restore. There are so many people around the world who are in need of our unique services and we are grateful for the support we receive to help us accomplish our mission.”

The Nazarene Fund did not answer follow-up questions about the circumstances or timing of Ballard’s departure, or his current relationship to the organization. A representative for Ballard did not immediately respond to a request for comment; he also did not immediately respond to a message sent through the contact form on his personal website.

Ballard’s no longer being CEO of the Nazarene Fund—which, as Motherboard has previously reported, appears to have at times exaggerated its role in exfiltrating the Afghan girls' national soccer team from the country, according to people who were directly involved—ties in with a larger pattern of abrupt and surprising change for him. Last week, Operation Underground Railroad, the anti-trafficking organization where he was the founder and most recognizable face, confirmed to Motherboard that Ballard had “stepped away” from the group. OUR declined to answer follow-up questions about the timing and reason for Ballard’s departure, and a representative for Ballard has not responded to multiple requests for comment.

A source conveyed to Motherboard this week that a letter is circulating in Utah’s philanthropic community, which claims that Ballard left OUR following an internal investigation. The letter further states that an employee filed an HR complaint after returning from a mission with Ballard, which sparked the investigation and his subsequent departure.

This is at least the second time Ballard has departed as CEO from the Nazarene Fund. In 2021, as Motherboard previously reported, Ballard was deposed as CEO by the group’s board, which consisted of Ballard, Glenn Beck, and David Barton, who has been described as a "fake historian" who's "received little formal historical training" and is dedicated to promoting the idea that America was founded on Christian ideals.
So likely won't be long till some less-than-flattering details come out in the future. Though not before the fundraising collects the initial haul of "pay it forward" tickets at least.

Nobody asked for it, but you're getting it regardless. It's important to submerse and marinate under this kinda hubris, to orient yourselves. To humble us all.

Finally, if we're to learn anything important from their work, don't forget the brave timeless quotes whispered by a breathless sweaty Jim Caveziel from the film;

"NEVER TRUST A PEDOPHILE!"

You know, I'd be willing to take this movie at a lot more good faith if conservatives hadn't spent the last couple of years obsessing over protecting the children from baby eating democrates, grooming gays, and genital mutilating trans people. I'd even be willing to take it at some good faith had they at least been consistent with their want to protect children, and argued equally for free school lunches, affordable medicine and healthcare, and against the repeal of child labor laws. But that's ofcourse not the message they want to send out. No, their message is that children need to be kept away from the degenerate socialist Left and the ungodly gays and trans people. They need to be protected from THAT. And this movie is obviously trying to correlate to this message by making the inciting incident unquestionably evil, and conveniently in line with what they've accused "the woke" of doing.

Heck, when the oh-so liberal Hollywood does this shit it makes me want to dry heave at the hypocrisy, but Tim Ballard and Jim Caviezel.... Yeah, I see what you trying to peddle, so please go fuck yourself.
