Also, The Super Mario Bros. Movie did better than Across the Spider-Verse, so... you know. 🤷‍♂️
It's not a bad thing either way. Both are awesome movies that succeeded in what they wanted to achieve. Now I do have a bigger preference for Across The Spider Verse, but I plan on getting both movies later.

No, that's just me throwing in my own personal grievance. I think the Mario movie is shit, I think Across is awesome, yet Mario did better, it is what it is, and I won't judge society for giving one more money than the other. Movies aren't so important that I'm going to use them as a barometer to judge society by.

Excellent answer, and I agree.

I love Ahsoka. The space battle, the super star destroyer hyperdrive. Even the lightsaber combat. It's just works.

The boring one
Apparently there's a new Polanski movie and I wonder if it's any good. The first review I've skimmed through is awful, but can we trust these? I suspect that appreciating a Polanski movie is legally forbidden nowadays, if I judge from the general reaction to his former one getting a prize (which it was supposed not to, for reasons entirely distinct from its value). There's probably some glee in finding his film terrible, and some public shame in praising it. But to be honest, I had been underwhelmed by his Dreyfus movie, and, especially at his age and facing filming obstacles, a bad film is a very credible possibility.

I'm bracing for a lot of culture warry noise with very little to do with that film...

Steve Harwell of Smash Mouth is in hospice care, with days left to live.

Chicken Run sequel out of nowhere. Summoned by decades of collective despair.
Yeah, I am really conflicted with this one. On one hand, I fucking love claymations, used to watch the original Chicken Run to death when I was a kid. On the other hand, I know it'll be a soul-less cash grab to target people like me.

Chicken Run never really needed a sequel. It's a great one-off, and even though I have not seen a trailer yet, I fail to see what it can offer at this point. Claymation aside.

Hopefully this will be better than Shin Godzilla and Godzilla (2014). I didn't like either of them. King of the Monsters and everything after in the Legendary Pictures continuity is great.

Also, I do not trust if this is a legit claymation, or some sort of CGI-generated that pretends to be a legit work.

I haven't seen Dreyfus or this latest one. I did watch the one before with his wife and Eva Green ("Based on a True Story"?) and thought it was a surprisingly lame 101 psychological thriller. So lame I thought for sure the lameness would be somehow worked into a twist by the end.

Venus in Fur and Carnage were just fine as "filmed theater".

The last Polanski movie I genuinely loved was Ghost Writer.

I haven't seen it but I knew someone who truly loved to book it's based on.

Maybe the book is better. As a film I remember how everything seemed so heavily telegraphed. It's one of those movies where the plot is explained by either one of two possible outcomes, and then it does, and then that's it.
