It's the end
So long and thanks for all the fish
Well that is a shame. I wonder if he got tired of the advertising and the demands of more content from him, like the podcasts, dnd games, extra punctuations, etc.

The amount of content he went from doing just zp and a blog, to all of that while also having to beg people to become members and whatnot. I dont think he enjoyed it.

Well if this is the end, I want to say, it's been a good time guys. Though our populus may be small, this was a forum where I could still enjoy personal discussions with people I recognize rather than the near faceless masses of people on Reddit.

Though we have had our differences, especially in Politics, I have enjoyed speaking with people about games and other nerd hobbies here. I hope we all find good communities after this.

Guessing his increased work load far outpaced his financial compensation as well, which can typically lead to someone saying peace out.

No i don't think that was it. Apparently they talking about this on the discord but Nick got fired and they all liked Nick so they quit to go independent with Nick. So there will be a new website and probably new websites soon enough. The question is whether they'll have a forum board for us to go to and get on this husk of a website.

From last night -

Well shit…that’d help explain why I haven’t gotten anywhere with getting my legacy account access restored. This was probably a long time coming with the restructuring I read about on the Discord from a few months ago. With any luck we’ll migrate to greener pastures and I’ll finally have my old account back.

Fuck Gamurs Group they can rot in a dumpster.

Man, where are we supposed to complain/cheer for various gaming news now?

In other news, next Monday we get our TGA 2023 nominees

I can already see Starfield and TOTK being GOTY nominees, kinda like how TLOU2 was nominated and won TGA 2020.

The Awards can continue to screw off when they decide to do that. Especially if Starfield ends up winning. Geoff is the only thing I really consider good about these awards, aside from trailers and stuff. He'll always be an awesome guy.

Yeah, Starfield will probably get nominated, but if it wins I think I'll lose hopes in future award shows. Thankfully TLOU2 winning seems to be the only blunder imo, and I can understand the rest of the winners given the hype/culture around the year of every winners. So maybe voters are smarter these days?

If TOTK wins, I don't think I'll be as upset, because even with all of its flaws I would still pick it over Starfield

Think the site is over for now?
I suspect what will happen is the same that happened to cracked.com. A listicle website that used to provide actual articles with effort and thought behind it until they could no longer afford it and it turned into a site doing nothing but regurgitating old content with minimal changes.

The award show has had several blunders dating all the way back to their Spike TV days. Back when it was just a Spike TV Awards. I know they got it together thanks to Geoff around 2014, but they still had a few mess ups. OverWatch getting the game of the year award over Doom 2016... What in the actual hell? Then back in 2014, a few of the judges refused to give Bayonetta 2 a game of the year award nor didn't want to give the game an action game of the year, because the character and game "are too sexualized and sexist", and "too embarrassing and baf for the industry'. This is all the more hypocritical, because that same judge has a link to a softcore porn site. I would still pimp smack his sorry ass if given the chance.

Barely better by comparison. You would just be trading in one status quo winner for another. I hate the quote or bring up Simmons, but he does have a point about how there's media biased that puts too much positive praises for a legend of Zelda game, or downplays the issues of a game that would get ripped apart anywhere else, if not for the name. Tears of the Kingdom is not a bad game, but it punishes you for not having an act of imagination, and there's nothing more but a mission pack sequel with build your own vehicle mechanics and expect to figure out all on your own. It's Legend of Zelda: Nuts And Bolts Edition, but only more functional by comparison. The Game Awards usually don't hand out Awards to remakes either. There's an unwritten rule that games journalist don't like to give remakes a game of the year award, nor not to give them too much pedigree even if the game is really great. Mainly because it's not an original enough property or it will "steal the thunder" for more original titles. It just goes so how stacked the deck against other games in the system is to begin with. I know they allow people to vote now (since last year), but that doesn't save everything nor stop the screw up from beforehand. Yes people have more of a voice and choice, but the people have the top still get the final say so
