I really miss '90s Underworld. I miss '90s Electronic music in general. Yes, I can still listen to it, but I miss the whole vibe of the times: watching AMP at 2am, trips to the record store, my favorites in their prime releasing music that led the industry, etc.

I was having a little Saturday morning booty shake to that while doing the washing up this morning.

Ahh, that time when your body and brain worked properly, you had freedom but few responsibilities, the world was a great field of possibilities and everything felt like an adventure and a voyage of discovery...

Speaking of, mate of mine showed me this a week or so ago, only just noticed they were made last year and not 30+ years ago

More Underworld. I love the original "Pearl's Girl," but this live version fucking RIPS the outro. I'm pretty sure the last minute of this version could function as a defibrillator if CPR isn't working.

Couldn't fit these 2 in previous post, the edit denied them 😔

Unsure if preferring this cover over the cranberries is cause it's better or cause the original's one of those tracks a 90s acoustic guitar learning process overexposes a student to. Why not both!

Then I highly recommend Last Days. His music is plodding, melancholic, and contemplative, mostly ambient. Some very sad but tender shit. Some people put on happy music when they want to feel better or change their mood; I put on Last Days when I want to refuse to allow myself to believe things can get better.

No, this version is FAR superior to the original. I never liked the original (never really liked that style of music in general,) and it was WAY overplayed to the point that even when you didn't actively seek it out, it found YOU like 4 times a day. This version is great.

Tried to find a gif of a thief stuffing their trenchcoat with newfound goodies before running off as a lighthearted reply, without nary a crumb of success - technology has failed us yet again. Apart from my videogames, they're doing alright. For now.

wait, oh bollocks, thought this one was already added in original list;

Head rests,
a sore mind behind
these red eyes.
Watch the television,
sweet escapism,
game shows and racism.

Headlines,
war crimes behind
disguised affection.

All
for a cause
that never was.

Call
for a voice
but all it does
is sigh.

Inside.

Sigh.

More or less,
there abouts,
a young man with so many doubts.
I try to learn
impersonating,
the clever moves but I am facing,
the always
power-crazed,
middle aged generation.

All
for a cause
that never was.

Call
for a voice
but all it does
is sigh.

Inside.

Sigh.

Inside.

Blood and blame
passed on to a neighbour.
Continuing the chain.
Deadly game of whispers.
How am I to grow.
The life I love
I don't know.

Blood and blame
passed on to a neighbour.
Continuing the chain.
Deadly game of whispers.
How am I to grow.
The life I love
I don't know.

Ok, never mind that it breaks my brain, I love this song. Makes me want to do ten lines of cocaine, then drive at 120mph into oncoming traffic.

Man is peer pressure a hell of a drug. This song from memory hit in like 1999 and was pretty popular through the 2000s so I heard and saw it a lot in high school. Now my friend group did not give the Backstreet Boys the time of day - from memory the shamefully unimaginative, homophobic and inaccurate nickname we gave them was 'the Backdoor Boys'.

So 20+ years on and we revisit this song and what do we find: Oh. It has a good beat, plenty of energy, you can dance to it, and the lads can all carry a tune. Sure the lyrics aren't anything to write home about but not every lyricist is Tim Rice or Jim Steinman. And the video itself is dripping in atmosphere worthy of a Meat Loaf song or at least kids Gothic horror show with only the few and brief external shots of the castle - which looks weirdly like Hogwarts - looking dated or cheap. All of the set design, make up and costuming are almost movie quality of the day.

So yeah, braver people than me knew this 25 years ago, but its a banger of a tune.

So, i found some older MP3-CD's in my car and rotated them into my newer mix.
Man, one of my regrets was not going to the "The Beards" concert in Germany a year before they stopped being "The Beards" - because the ticket reseller jacked the prices up.

I love it when a "comedy band" ist just straight up good AND fun.
So they made three albums, every song is about beards, having beards, growing beards... and one straight schmalzy love-ballad nothing to do with beards... but then they break into a chorus of "beards, beards, beards x 5" for no reason.

The have an ultra-sad (and hilarious) bluesy tune:

Peppy pop songs:

some weird unhinged folk-song:

And something were they let the drummer loose as a "singer" and... flutist/oboist???

And many more Songs

"A Wizard needs a beard"

or

"Having a beard is better than having a woman"

(Including such lines comparing the two):
"You can attack your beard with a razor and it keeps coming back"
"Your beard will never up and leave you, and attach itself to some other guy"

Eh you know what. One last link for that song:

I just love it (Also- i have a beard...)

Huh, am surprised that they have had three albums, played in Germany, or that anyone else has heard of them. Only know of two songs of theirs.
