Yes. Yes, we are.

Voice actress possibly hired for political reasons.

If this is a smoking gun to you, you need to seriously take a long hard look at yourself.

Sure she does/is. Like we needed to know.
I didn't know. And you only know because you went digging for (what you consider) dirt, because female protag. All we have officially on the game so far is a trailer and a statement from Sucker Punch. Neither of which mention the actress being gay, genderfluid, against transphobia or supporting the Trevor Project. YOU went looking for that yourself to find something to hate. That this is what your hate is targeted toward says more about you than Erika Ishii.

Used her position to promote Harris and Walz in a weird video, who represent the duopoly/uniparty, not the peasants.
"Her position"? Her postion as what; someone on the internet who was in a video? You're acting like it's fucking Taylor Swift - Nobody knows who the hell Erika Ishii is. That is till she dared play a woman in a game and be queer in real-life. *shakes fist*

Fucking pathetic dude.

Knowing Rockstar’s history it should’ve been a given GTA6 wouldn’t hit a 2025 release date. People just can’t help but set themselves up for disappointment I guess.
People at this point who want all the graphics and fancy details should know it's gonna take a long time for that to come out and happen. Nor should they be surprised. The casual gamer should even know at this point. So I suggest you all either. Keep playing the same game. You are already doing for a decade or find something else to play and fill the time. You all got 2 more years. Use that time for something better or playing games you never thought you would enjoy.

Fucking pathetic dude.
True dat!

@Ezekiel, there are some things you cannot come back from and you've lost my respect. You're way too close on the red flag of being exactly like those anti woke grifting ass hats. If you wanna get that comfortable with them then you might as well just come out and say it. I don't know why you have a problem with a female protoag, considering you weren't impressed with the last game much. So what makes this case so special now?/rhetorical

Go back to post 300. Prominence and description of Onna-musha, suspicious.
Sorry, but no, its not suspicious. I did read that post. It's amateur reckoning by some guy who (by his own admission) is no authority. He just read a wiki and gave his two cents.

There are factually attestations of female warriors (and cavalry) from the 13th to 17th centuries in Japan. It's a fact. It's not in historical dispute.

((Also, where he says the term was only given later? Onna-musha and onna-bugeisha merely mean woman-warrior and woman-martial-artist respectively. They're descriptive, not formal titles. So that's irrelevant; it'd be like saying there were no marksmen in an army because the term "marksmen" was only used retrospectively, even though there were people using bows/rifles to hit distant targets but using a different word for it)).

Could design her as a thug or misfit. But still feminine, for sales (me). From poverty. Because hunger and desperation don't care about class and norms.
Why should they? Historically they came from well-to-do households, wore armour and were martially trained.

You're the one here wanting to jettison historicity in favour of modern archetypes.

I know who Erika Ishii is. I saw her on Geek and Sundry playing a bisexual, polyamorous vampire in a game of Vampire the Masquerades; as introductions go I felt to be very informative AND hilarious. She’s also playing one of the voices of Female!Rook in DragonAge Veilguard.

I’ll be interested to hear her in this game since Yotei is a more straight - pardon the pun - dramatic role.

That man is an idiot. "If you don't like it, don't buy it" is a stupid thing to say as many projects keep failing because they won't give the consumers what they want. One of people behind Concord said the same thing before it failed.

if playing as a woman or this woman specifically bothers you so much

I went over this already. It's the portrayal and tone. If she's believable and likable, I will eat my words, but these people are predictable.

Funny saying that when capital GAMERS Said the same thing to games other people didn't like and threw a fit when said GAMERS threw a fit When a game they cared about didn't do well or people chose not to play their game. Besides, he's only going after the people who have a problem with a woman or person to color being a protag. When most of these people complaining weren't even fans of the first game to begin with, or used it as a stepping stone to attack anything "woke". I guess you missed that part or you're selectively oblivious.

One of people behind Concord said the same thing before it failed.
Concord is a major exception and not a rule. There were some loud and petty people on YT claiming they wouldn't buy Streets of Rage 4 and it sold great.

And you're full of shit. If that's really the case, you would have said the same about the first game. And as we're seeing, you weren't even that impressed, so you shouldn't even be that upset when you weren't even interested to begin with for the sequel. That is part of your big problem: You are judging a game and basing it off. Absolutely, nothing and throwing a hissy fit. Either wait for the game to come out or don't. Your opinion on this don't count for Jack shit Anyway, and I can judge for myself. You do whatever to hell you want, but don't cry about something you weren't even invested in to begin with.

Also, you're way more predictable than that other guy speaking. Like I said before: you are never happy about almost anything. It's called grow up and enjoy life. I appreciate what comes out and is given. I'll always call out bad products or media, but i'm not gonna be cynical and sniffing my farts 24/7. Life is too short for that shit.

I will hear nothing else otherwise, and this discussion is done as far as i'm concerned.

Voice actress possibly hired for political reasons.
Where exactly is it said that the voice actress is hired for her political opinion instead of for just having been available and providing a fitting voice for an acceptable price ?

I hate when people dig out completely unrelated political statements of one person of a hundred involved in some project and claim that is the political stance of that project. Do you know how low on the corporate ladder voice actors are and how negligible their influence is ? If enough people work on something you will always find someone with views you find disagreeable.

Do you know how often i was asked about my political views in job interviews ? Never. (It also kinda may be illegal.)

Well seeing as this is going to be the only game Sony have coming out, hopefully it'll have something to do in the open world other than random combat encounters and make the world worth exploring. I can't be doing with fields and fields of nothingness again with nothing but the occasional yellow bird to tell you where a collectible is, just in case stumbling across it yourself got too exciting.
Good news!

Ghost of Yotei Will Feature a Less Repetitive Open World

Ghost of Yotei

The announcement of Ghost of Yotei was undoubtedly the highlight of September's State of Play. Fans certainly weren't expecting to see the long-awaited sequel of Ghost of Tsushima pop up on that broadcast.

After all, Ghost of Tsushima was Sony's fastest-selling new IP when it launched back in 2020, not to mention Sucker Punch's best-selling game, going on to sell over 13 million copies to date. It did so well that Sony immediately fast-tracked a movie adaptation, which is being handled by none other than John Wick director Chad Stahelski.

Related Story Assassin’s Creed Shadows Won’t Have Trouble Selling Well, Even With Ghost of Yotei; Ubisoft Doesn’t Endorse Any “Specific Agenda”
Usually, Sony's big first-party reveals are reserved for PlayStation Showcase events, but fans aren't exactly going to look at this particular gift horse in the mouth. In fact, they're already eager to learn more details about Ghost of Yotei.

Thankfully, developer Sucker Punch shared a few little tidbits about this sequel in an interview published on The New York Times. Creative Director Jason Connell said that one of the changes compared to Ghost of Tsushima will be a less repetitive open world.

One challenge that comes with making an open-world game is the repetitive nature of doing the same thing over again. We wanted to balance against that and find unique experiences.

Indeed, it could be argued that Ghost of Tsushima's main flaw was its repetitiveness, while the stunning visuals and memorable story and characters were its highlights. It is a flaw that the game admittedly shared with many open world games, so if Sucker Punch can truly improve in this area, Ghost of Yotei could be elevated far above many of its peers.

Interestingly, the developers also teased that the game will be a tale of 'underdog vengeance' for protagonist Atsu (voiced by Erika Ishii, who will be one of the female voices for Dragon Age: The Veilguard's main character Rook and has worked on many big games before, from Apex Legends to Destiny 2).

Players will even have 'more control' over her story, which could be taken as a hint that choices may be available at certain points of the plot. Lastly, we learned that firearms will be available as weapons, which makes sense as Ghost of Yotei is set in 1603, over 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima.

Yes, so you've said. And yet the sole issues with portrayal you've brought up have been historical misapprehensions on your part. 'Tone', meanwhile, you've inferred solely from the fact she's a woman and the VA isn't heterosexual.

So actually, 'Tone and portrayal' seem to just be ways to disguise a personal dislike for female warrior characters and queer artists being involved.

I don't like her as a person based off her live action content where she is free to be herself. I find her activism ignorant and ill-informed as if she is just following the trends of those around her.

However she's an actor and her portrayal in Ghosts 2 will be largely the burden of writing and direction. So her political beliefs are of little importance. These articles complaining about her are going overboard because quite frankly most voice actors are "woke" and it doesn't affect their performances in video games. Matt Mercer, Laura Bailey, basically all of Critical Role, and fuck most of Hollywood. That doesn't prevent the actors from giving good performances, because actors have nothing to do with scripts or direction, they merely act out what their told.

This is a non-issue. I don't even have a problem with playing a female samurai, it could be cool.

You know I'll call out this game for it's political bullshit if the game is bullshit. But just because it stars a girl is not a reason to pull a smoking gun.

It will be.

Agreed. But as we seen, these are the same assholes that are using the previous game as a stepping stone against TLOUS 2 for their pathetic hatred and egos. They
did not once give a single solitary fuck about Jin, or the other supporting cast. They pretty much forgot about them. The moment they were no more useful to their own little crusade.

As for the actress: I know little about her, but I'm not gonna bother her, nor get upset for having left political views. From what little I've seen, she keeps to herself and does het own thing. Besides, I've seen actors and voice actors with far worse political stances, and whatever she can come up with. Ruben Landen being one of them... There is a good reason why he's not voicing Dante anymore, but he takes his loss gracefully. He is 100% OK With Johnny (Nero) voicing Dante now.

I've said many times that I like playing female protags, so to me this is a win. However if it leads down nonsensical neo politics then it'll be a big let down. In the meantime I'm hyped for this and I can see it being GOTY 2025 easily. Well.....maybe not over Monster Hunter.

It won't, and it's a non issue to be worried about. At the end of the day, SP just wants to make an awesome game like they did last time. A majority of the actual Ghost fans are telling the people who have a problem, try to act like it's gonna be a worse problem with "forced politics", than it actually is are telling the antis to fuck off on all levels. Also, the first game has plenty of politics, be they class or gender. It just goes to show that most of these dumb asses that have a problem with the sequel did not play the first game or only stuck around for the first two hours and dropped it just so they could claim they played the game.

There are plenty of indie games with female protagonist, that have politics, pocs.
, or all the above, yet, none of these assholes cry about it, because they know they'll get laughed at and get their ass is kicked verbally when trying to start shit. Indie developers of all kinds make it clear they don't like the anti-woke whatever of the day grifters, and tell them to fuck off.

GOTY 2025 easily. Well.....maybe not over Monster Hunter.
The GOTY means nothing to me. Everyone has their own game of year, and that's all that matters to me.

Previous history doesn't mean anything. How many developers have we seen go from making good games to making Trash. Rocksteady, Blizzard, Bioware, etc etc etc. It's fine to have trust but remember it can still be shit even from a good studio.

For reference-

This stuff basically writes itself and I’m not sure where the contention would lie, beyond SP really dropping the ball somehow which would be a surprise at this point.

So what? I don't give a damn, and most of these companies failed on their own or screwed up because they tried enforcing micro transactions, crappy DLCs, and LIVE SERVICE. Not shitty left wing politics or using it as a shield. I am mainly referring to AciIvision and EA using them as shields or pretending to care.

SP I have faith in, and it's just your paranoia and cynicism speaking right there. I get where you're coming from, but at the same time it's a non-issue, and you're already letting those on the racist and sexist influencing you again. Not the first time that has happened.

The idea of go woke go broke is a myth, started by racist and sexist girfters. A lot they say so many times cause they wanted to be true when it's not. That is all at the same in the matter, and that is that. Birdman has the rest timestamped.

For now on it's just wanting to know more about the story of the game, the new main character Atsu, it's setting, and what new gameplay Yotei has to offer. Everything else is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned right now.

Pat and Woolie are interested in the game and excited. They're making fun of the anti-woke crowd. Pat pretty much confirms this mind set cannibalizes itself and that these type of people will never be happy with anything after the Space Marine II release.

That's cool and I am not surprised. I met an exterminator a few weeks ago that's going through Tshushima right now, and he didn't know the sequel got announced until I told him. Now he's making sure to get through the game. I told him not to worry as the sequel takes place 300 years later, and don't come out until next year.

After four years, millions of players, and the imminent Assassin's Creed Shadows soaking up some of its samurai limelight, Ghost of Tsushima has again seen another boost in players thanks to its sequel's announcement.

And while Ghost of Yotei has a totally different protagonist and is set 300 years in the future, players still flocked back to its predecessor in droves to either catch up on what makes the series special or to scratch the itch it left behind. That's according to GameInsights data, reported on by True Trophies, that shows Ghost of Tsushima's active player count has shot up by 53% this past week on PS4 and PS5. The Director's Cut on PC also doubled its concurrent player count in the week of Yotei's announcements, based on SteamDB numbers.

True Trophies also reports that curious newcomers and lapsed fans alike made the game jump from number 35 on the console's most-played chart to number 26, overtaking several newly-released games and sitting only 17.9% behind The Last of Us Part 1's player count, which also got a bump off the back of the TV show's new trailer and an addition to PS Plus Extra.
