Whatever, just wash your hands.
Well ''made in Russia'' isn't exactly a mark of quality.
Chinese ones kinda hide it also, really its kinda hard to tell outright where a game was made unless its part of some sale with games from a certain region.

I've always hated the spritework of the Ace Attorney Trilogy pack. They just looked so muddy and unappealing. The excellent spritework in the Investigation showing how much better it could have been just makes me dislike it all the more.

They de-pixellated the artwork? Gross.

Wonder if Ubisoft stopped Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell games due to background pressure from US government foreign policy whisperers, the former cos Persia is Iran and Iran is and has been their long-term number 1 target for taking over middle-east resource extraction for at least half a century and have been always very sensitive about propaganda, both producing but also stamping out growing positive representation that gets too, well, catches their attention.

Glimpse into Persian historical contributions US systemically ignores

The latter, while yes part of America's lifelong trusted flufferboy 'Tom Clancy' brand, was still nonetheless a lil too cosy delving into narrative international spy double-backstabbing democracy-destabilising fuckery instead of keeping it close and tight-knit at home murdering public workers, or on made-up islands or countries easier to bully and distance from if they try whinging about it.

The easiest, common sense retort is it's basic profit, they weren't money makers. Would've agreed in the past for sure, yet most Ubi's games of last few years invariably failed on release only pulled back into the fold of success with committed post-launch support. And we see how much money large publishers are still throwing onto the live-service bandwagon bonfire to this day in spite of high-profile failure upon failure upon embarrassment of failures with even foolproof beloved IPs. Money isn't as important as the will and whims of the CEO/Investor class.Who are far too regularly bumping shoulders with politicians and their foreign-policy obsessed courtesans. Merely witness the patriotic majesty of COD: a recruitment pamphlet barely capable of disguising the military's final edit privilege it holds over any media wanting to portray them. Microsoft also shown it's government wank hand by clamping down on Palestinian users of its services whether they're American citizens or not. It's the way of the world.

It just occurred to me that Naughty Dog's output mirrors perfectly the history of trends re: The Protagonist, at least since the 90s.

1. The Funny/Cute Mascot (Crash Bandicoot)

Collect all the fruit!

2. The Edgy Teen Mascot (Jak and Daxter)

Collect all the fruit (you have a gun)!

3. The White Dude (Uncharted)

Hollywood ca. 2007-2016

4. The Hairy Dad (The Last of Us)

The devs grew up.

5. The Minority (The Last of Us Part II)

The devs grew up (and they're sorry).

Lego Hoizon Zero Dawn is a rare case of game I wouldn't play even if given it for free. Nothing against the Lego games they're oft enjoyable, got an unfinished Skywalker saga save file been meaning to eventually go back to. Nothing against HZD either, it can do no wrong thanks to the diplomatic immunity I've generously bestowed upon it.

Is just Lego games are a consistent subgenre with particular set of traits that when added to HZD kinda chemically neutralises all the exquisite good shit -*dons faux harxcore gamer hat* shit so good I rinsed the whole goddamn spectrum of difficulty modes with all assists disabled *lobs hat away* sorry, my neighbour's a loud twat whenever visitors come round. Anyway Lego are so consistent, am in no doubt of the end product format and have never been more certain it ain't for me. Pass it on to the kiddos, while sir official adult here finishes off Mario Wonder 👩‍🔬

Is like sleep and eating. Yeah both are very appreciated on their own. But when combined an implied element of agency becomes ominously absent.

-.

So, in Veilguard, was it as obvious to others when entering the flashback pockets for the main narrative mage friend (whom from hence forth on shall be referred to as 'Elven Lex Luthor') that some Geneva breaking shenanigans were lurking inside? As soon as I found the first one, realised I was conducting the mandatory room-to-room snoop semi-consciously like "ok where the war crimes at? I know they in here somewhere. Lil bastards cnn't hide forever. Reveal your sorry shameful ass so we can get this bullshit over with!"

ok haven't yet directly observed war crimes so is still possible this'll make me look like a right ol' silly tittie biscuit

Negative as those words may unintentionally read, should clarify am still enjoying the game having a blast with the combat for the first time in dragon age, plus my protagonist's long curly bouncy ginger hair is quite fabulous indeed! There ya go, that's the hot take I guess lol

I don't blame you as I have no interest either. I really have not touched a lego game since 2003.

The Skywalker saga does do a bit more with its combat than the rest like combos and even infinite juggling tricks, if it's any consolation. Is why it held attention more for me at least. Well, that and its prequel trilogy is likely the only version I can force myself to commit to finishing lol

Naughty Dog's first game was a Mortal Kombat rip-off - they've never been trendsetters. You say "The Edgy Teen Mascot (Jak and Daxter)", but that was Jak 2; Jak and Daxter was a cartoony 3D platformer that was relatively lighthearted. It was only after GTA3 got big that ND suddenly decided to turn their new IP into an edgy open-world.

Which is why accusations of Naughty Dog not being what they used to be ring hollow. They are what they have been since the beginning really; following trends and pouring their own sauce over it.
