I read through that thread. You seem to have some grievances with games of today. I'm not gonna say that you are right or wrong since the game they harken back to are those that I haven't played. There was however one comment you made on Tormented Souls, inspired by Resident Evil, that stuck out to me:

And that's why I disagree with the take that Resident Evil 4 Remake needed to keep the old voice acting and writing. Like it or not, Resident Evil grew up with 7, and insisting that it go back to being bad except on purpose now is both just a bad idea generally (bad on purpose is extremely hard to get right), and it wouldn't fly with Capcom after the massive success of the new direction of the series. Besides, it's not like Leon doesn't have plenty of great/groan-worthy one-liners anyway. "Nighty-night, knights!"

Sturgeon was referring to cheap dime store 1950s science fiction before adding something like "then again 90% of everything is crud", probably humorously.
Never played the original, but I know of the infamy. Remake, RE2 to 6, Revelations, what I remember of Code Veronica and Zero (Didn't finish these two.) and the three modern remakes (For RE4 I'm mostly assuming, since I disliked the demo and likely won't ever buy it.) all had better acting than Tormented Souls. It's possibly part parody and mostly just terrible.
To be fair, when I typed that out, I wasn't even sure myself if I was being sarcastic or not. To a degree, hokey voice acting does in fact add charm to some older games, in the sense that it was the style at the time, while nowadays, we expect better voice acting. That said, that only goes so far. There's a difference between cheesy and just unlistenably bad voice acting.

Thank you. I miss hokey voice acting to some extent, but at the same time, I am glad we've moved beyond that for certain franchises.
I haven't played the RE4 Remake because it looks like essentially the same game and I played RE4. Plus, RE4 wasn't like previous REs where it needed a gameplay upgrade, it's still very playable today. Anyway, I did play RE2 Remake and I felt that game took itself way too seriously in dialogue and story and didn't have nearly as much fun with itself that it should have had, and I was just kinda bored by the characters and plot. I wouldn't say that I'd want it to be "bad" but there is good camp (vs so-bad-it's-good) like say Dead Alive, Slither, Gremlins and RE2 Remake felt rather devoid of that kind of fun.
4R does have a lot more of that than 2R did, between Leon's quips (despite what any cherry-pickers might say about him having none) and the general change of setting. The villains aren't quite as in-your-face wacky as the originals (except Salazar, he's still super wacky), but they still have plenty of great moments, and the expanded characters compared to the original are interesting to watch interact.
That's the best part: he doesn't and I've more than pointed this out to him. Don't waste your breath on him.
You are 100% correct. I mentioned to another different user a few years ago, but he missed the point and got angry about it. Time changes and there is nothing wrong with liking something different and getting updated to match current times, or to be better. Video games are art, and they should be praised and criticized when needed.
Ok, that would mean for just one months worth of rent you get a full setup for running games and lots and lots of games.
For any kinds of consoles i would include the cost of a TV. Which many households don't even have anymore.
