Whatever, just wash your hands.
I can see why the Adobe stuff flies because people learned the software, got used to it, like it and there's very little competition in that space (I think at least) so Adobe kinda has you by the balls. But some new streaming service like Peacock, why even join in the 1st place? If no one joins, nothing to miss out on.
Its hard to do but it can be done.

Streaming is really tempting for companies since its initial upfront cost is kinda high, but once its setup its cheap as hell to run. Netflix was smart to start making its own programing, since it realized this would happen so it couldn't be reliant upon other studios catalogs forever.

GameSpot don't count for shit and they have not had a good take since the Kane and Lynch fiasco. They have no room to talk, considering they had no problem sucking up to all the indie darlings and other games. If that's your only defense, it truly shows how pathetic and out of touch you truly are. Pretty much anbody andeverybody with actual sense and a brain can debunk their bullshit. Using game spot as your one defense? Pathetic, desperate, and delusional.
What ARE you talking about? Warm_Gun is me, the link I posted is from the Gamespot forum, not the front page. You should recognize several of my posts in that link, since they came from arguments with you.

Indie are mostly overrated. Can't even do what the studios did twenty to thirty years ago, because they don't have the money and imitate far too much. Exceptions are so few that it barely depends. When they finally do have the money, they instantly transform into the AAA slop factories.

I read through that thread. You seem to have some grievances with games of today. I'm not gonna say that you are right or wrong since the game they harken back to are those that I haven't played. There was however one comment you made on Tormented Souls, inspired by Resident Evil, that stuck out to me:

Bad actress had her lines mixed too low under the music in the opening, and I kept thinking about that, so already I don't know why she went to this house.

Very bad voice actress. Why does she sound so happy? Weirdly excited, even as she says to herself, "And my eye had been removed. Why? Why would someone do such a thing?"
I thought the original Resident Evil was infamous for having bad voice acting?

But Resident Evil is old, so it having bad voice acting is charming. Having the same quality of voice acting in a modern game is lazy.

And that's why I disagree with the take that Resident Evil 4 Remake needed to keep the old voice acting and writing. Like it or not, Resident Evil grew up with 7, and insisting that it go back to being bad except on purpose now is both just a bad idea generally (bad on purpose is extremely hard to get right), and it wouldn't fly with Capcom after the massive success of the new direction of the series. Besides, it's not like Leon doesn't have plenty of great/groan-worthy one-liners anyway. "Nighty-night, knights!"

Going to leave the specific example there before I get completely off-topic, but I think I've covered that idea in the main RE4R thread before.

That explains the pretentious bullshit. We're done here. Your little post from a different website, don't count for shit.

Sturgeon's Law: If 90% of modern games are bad, that's because 90% of all games are bad.
I'm gonna need some documentation on this Sturgeon's Law, because I keep hearing that '90% of all movies/shows/games are bad' but it never goes beyond assumptions. Like, what are the parameters exactly?

Sturgeon was referring to cheap dime store 1950s science fiction before adding something like "then again 90% of everything is crud", probably humorously.

Never played the original, but I know of the infamy. Remake, RE2 to 6, Revelations, what I remember of Code Veronica and Zero (Didn't finish these two.) and the three modern remakes (For RE4 I'm mostly assuming, since I disliked the demo and likely won't ever buy it.) all had better acting than Tormented Souls. It's possibly part parody and mostly just terrible.

  1. Only the original Resident Evil, Code Veronica (Steve only) and Gun Survivor have really bad voice acting. The rest either have good, good enough, or great voice acting. In order, RE2-RE4, RE5, Revelations Duology, RE6-RE8, and all of the remakes. Stilted and awards line reads for the early sequels, but not bad voice acting for the majority of the characters.
  2. Capcom more than stated they wanted to do different takes for the remakes and they all worked in their favor. So no shit they're going in that direction. You want bad voice acting or weirdly written scripts with line readings? Welp, keeping playing those old games over and over again, or start looking at some of the indie with intentionally bad voice acting.

To be fair, when I typed that out, I wasn't even sure myself if I was being sarcastic or not. To a degree, hokey voice acting does in fact add charm to some older games, in the sense that it was the style at the time, while nowadays, we expect better voice acting. That said, that only goes so far. There's a difference between cheesy and just unlistenably bad voice acting.

That explains the pretentious bullshit. We're done here. You're a little posy from a different website, don't count for shit.
The fuck is a posy? It says so much about you that the first thing you did, after I posted the Gamespot link and explained that it's my thread, was complain so negatively about yet another content creator (the editors). If you had actually bothered to look or thought about what I said one more moment, rather than immediately act on this weird impulse you have... Who gives a shit? I consume neither Gamespot nor Escapist content.

I posted the link to save time, and it obviously worked, since at least two people here read my posts over there. The few remaining Gametrailers members over there talk shit about this community too (and ZombieProof did before he stopped posting). At least two former Escapist members who are now at the other game forum I hang out at dislike this place too. (I know from reactions to something I said after Yahtzee quit.) That you all dislike each other makes you calling them pretentious, while carrying on with this better-than-them attitude, a bit funny.

I have nothing left to say, because you never have important shit to say. Now piss off Ezekiel.

Thank you. I miss hokey voice acting to some extent, but at the same time, I am glad we've moved beyond that for certain franchises.

I haven't played the RE4 Remake because it looks like essentially the same game and I played RE4. Plus, RE4 wasn't like previous REs where it needed a gameplay upgrade, it's still very playable today. Anyway, I did play RE2 Remake and I felt that game took itself way too seriously in dialogue and story and didn't have nearly as much fun with itself that it should have had, and I was just kinda bored by the characters and plot. I wouldn't say that I'd want it to be "bad" but there is good camp (vs so-bad-it's-good) like say Dead Alive, Slither, Gremlins and RE2 Remake felt rather devoid of that kind of fun.

4R does have a lot more of that than 2R did, between Leon's quips (despite what any cherry-pickers might say about him having none) and the general change of setting. The villains aren't quite as in-your-face wacky as the originals (except Salazar, he's still super wacky), but they still have plenty of great moments, and the expanded characters compared to the original are interesting to watch interact.

Well, I don't want to go too in-depth on a single game, but tl;dr on the main point, it's there in 4R if you bother to look for it at all.
