For any kinds of consoles i would include the cost of a TV. Which many households don't even have anymore.
That's epends on what part of the world do you live in. In the United States and Michigan, we got tvs for days. They usually go on sale and people buy them every day

Ehhh, I doubt many households don't have tvs and even if you need one, you can get a tv really really cheap nowadays. You can get a 32 inch tv for 100 bucks on amazon.

And most consoles can be hooked up to a computer monitor without any issue.
They probably work better since you don't have any of that post processing bullshit in a monitor.

The smaller sizes of monitors means most people will have them on desks, spaced for the best compromise between M/KB access and visibility or detail. When you're farther away from the screen, like with a TV, there is more space to grasp your controller. Your hands and the controller won't bump the bottom or front of a desk and you won't ever be resting your forearms on top of one.

Speakers that provide a sense of space (meaning, not desktop speakers) are also more tedious to use with monitors. Sitting so close to the monitor means the speakers will be blocked by the monitor.

Isn't HDR mostly still crappy on all but the pretty expensive monitors? Many modern games have nice HDR or at least look better with it on.

Oh well geeze, I guess we should just throw the monitor out into a fire since there is no way we could over come any of that. >.>

You don't have to have a monitor on a desk, there is no law requiring it.

You can move your speakers around.

HDR is crappy on any cheap tv or monitor. HDR just means that colors will be more pronounced, doesn't do anything else and you don't need it if you are gaming on a budget.

If your monitor is not on a desk, you're sacrificing size for nothing. I suppose you could roll a little desk with a wireless mouse and keyboard in front of it when you want to use it as a workstation as the smaller display area and higher pixel density is intended for, but that's tedious, and you need to then keep a spot free for the little rolling desk.

You can't place your speakers anywhere correct with a monitor in the way and you only three feet from the monitor. You're talking about having the speakers almost at your sides. Ridiculous.

Paying so much more for decent monitor HDR that will be used for console games and movies and not browsing and work is dumb when you can instead get the same or better in a big TV that stands far enough away that the speakers won't be blocked.

Honestly, the monitor display tech options are so unappealing that I prefer to hold on to my ten year old IPS 27 inch with crappy blacks and slightly burnt in Windows logo in the corner while waiting for MicroLED.

You do realize that 32 inches was just an example, you can get larger monitors also. Infact, did you know, there are whole ranges of monitor sizes, its true.

Yes you can you silly boy.

HDR is overrated and one of those things that unless you want to spend 800 on, you should ignore.

One of the big reasons to get a monitor instead of a tv is because it doesn't have all those tech options. Those slow down the response time and can create visual artifacts. Its why game modes on tvs tend to turn most of their post processing bullshit off. If you want the straight signal with minimal response lost then a monitor works better.

I think Filmmaker Mode is now a standard that most TVs have. My Samsung has that mode and my friend's new LG TV with AI also has that mode. I set up his living room TV last weekend and immediately looked for Filmmaker Mode and it was there, that's about all you have to do now, just did some fine tuning on the normal picture settings and turned down sharpness all the way and that was about it. The only thing that was kinda buried in the settings was disabling the energy saver bullshit as I couldn't actually change the panel brightness. I was surprised the default settings out of the box didn't have motion-whatever (soap opera effect) enabled.

Ugh, I despise that motion smoothing effect, not only does it make things look like a soap opera but it also tends to get things wrong so you get artifacting when the tv tries to correct a mistake.

I'll have to look at film maker mode.

HDR is beautiful. Sometimes. The naturalistic light of The Last Guardian blows the light in Shadow of the Colossus out of the water. You can almost feel the warmth on the stones. I wish my Seinfeld boxset didn't have HDR. Everybody else praises the colors, but it seems a bit too bright to me at times. The HDR grade is apparently different from the cropped widescreen version that has been streaming for years. Those are all the anecdotes that I will use without knowing what content you consumed and with what display.

We are too old to perceive the difference between 5 milliseconds and 2. I'm sure most of this processing that you speak of can be turned off.

Monitors bigger than 32 inches (16:9?) are just dumb. They still fall short of TV sizes and still don't let you sit far enough to give speakers the space they need.

Yeah, I can immediately see it on any TV in like 2 seconds and I don't get how some people don't notice it.

I don't know what that is. You have nothing to say.
The point is you're inconsistent, hypocritical, and full of shit with your statements. That's what @Worgen is telling you right now, and we've gotten way off-topic.

A personal quote from Dunkey that is relevant and most can agree with.

If you're gonna keep insulting me without ever adding anything, stop saying "I have nothing more to say to you" or "We're done" or whatever. Stop being Eric Cartman.

Good to know you're talking about yourself. Try harder next time and actually admit it.

No, I can only be speaking about you, not possibly myself, because I don't end arguments the way you do. I don't even recall ever insulting you, aside from comparing you, aptly, with Eric Cartman, in this. Remember when that other user called your behavior toxic?

Anyway, still have no idea what the cartoon is or means. If you think what I said about displays is inconsistent, hypocritical and false, enlighten us.

Yeah, whatever; I stopped listening to you, because all of your "points" are irrelevant or complete shit that has been debunked by nearly everyone on this thread. Deuces, I'm out, and you got nothing to stand on. Deal with it.

What are you talking about? What users and posts? You just say shit.

Okay, Cartman.
