Not sure how much of a hot take this is, but given how polarizing the Batman IP can be, I imagine this might cause at least a few to crank the A/C, or open a window: I just watched 2022's The Batman, and I think Robert Pattinson might be my favorite Batman.
Let me qualify: Batman, as a superhero, does not interest me. I can buy radioactive spider bites, aliens whose innate physiology gives them powers on Earth, etc., but rich guy with a grudge, all the money in the world, and a black belt never really resonated with me. But Pattinson's Batman is the first I've seen who seems to have been consumed by the mask he wears. His was a Batman I could take seriously/engage with because the "Bruce Wayne" persona felt more like the disguise than the cowl and cape, i.e.: he was Batman and had to hide as Bruce Wayne as evidenced by the fact you only see him without the mask like 3-4 times throughout the whole movie. Soundtrack also helped; the "bells of reckoning" reminded me that Batman wasn't there to impress, but to execute judgement; the walk up to the first fight scene, The Penguin's upturned car, Batman felt like punishment, and not a playboy with free time and a heart of gold.
