Was expecting Trump and Musk to start fighting earlier. Even Musk might not be immune to the sort of vindictive troublemaking Trump could do.

One of the things about the rule-based order on which our societies have rested for a substantial time is that businesspeople like Musk assume that they are safe to do stuff because government is full of rules and rules-based people, and if they don't follow the rules as expected, rules-based courts will rein them in.

But Trump is the stuff of an old style monarch. He''s the goddamn king so you'd better do what he says, and if you don't maybe he'll have your head cut off. And we'll see whether the courts can rein him in.

Disregarding the very real possibility that this is all just meant to distract from the whole Palantir deal, I hope both parties will be weakened from this. Having a schism between the nationalist right and the capitalist right would be good for anyone not sympathetic to either, because I'm not sure the nationalist right can survive without the capitalist rights funding. That said, I can't say that I find either a corpo-feudalist Nick Landian/Curtis Yarvinian Cyberpunk dystopia under Grand CEO Thiel nor a Bannon/Dugin style Fourth Reich under Czar Putin and Crown Prince Medvedev to be a rosy outlook for the future.

So I hope the divorce between Laurel and Hardy over there will set both of them back.

I suspect that at least one of them will get hammered if the fighting continues. My guess is that it's likely to be Musk who ends off the worse, but both of them losing somewhat wouldn't be a surprise.

When push comes to shove, the government nearly always turns out to have the biggest teeth.

I hope the annoying myth that ''The left does NOTHING against migration but the right stops it!' dies the painful death it deserves. There simply aren't many, if any left wing parties that explicitly campaign on more migration so the talking point already dies at the literal first hurdle. Meanwhile giving power to the right seems to just make the migration problem worse. We wasted over a year giving Wilders completely free reign on migration and mister anti migration did nothing, his personally appointed minister did absolutely nothing and all attempt to solve migration related problems were sabotaged by the PVV. Abroad Brexit seems to have fixed nothing about migration, and Trump deliberately killed a migration bill just so he can campaign on it. Granted he does at least kidnap people for the crime of being a tad too brown.
Excuse me! They most certainly did do something. Faber stopped a group of immigrant children from going to an amusement park, and then Wilders gave it a thumbs up. An achievement for the history books really.

Right, so another fictional setting, not a real pre-modern ethnically homogeneous setting.

I think he should be aware of the contents of reports his own department is publishing. That's like below bare minimum for the role-- the kind of thing that would be utterly unacceptable in any mid-sized company.

Phoenix, I'm very sorry you reposted photoshops without realising, but it's really not anyone else's fault. Just use a little critical thinking next time.
That's how any human society (fictional or not would work) as you can use fictional worlds like GoT or LoTR as examples as well.

Sure, but no one really does that, you think any representative/senator is reading every bill?

Stop defending the covid bullshit that happened and just admit you were wrong? Is that really that hard?

Except for when we're talking about a handful of billionaires with a couple trillion dollars' net worth, and the rest of the political party they own which is butthole-deep in a latent insider trading scandal that could put Watergate to shame...under oligarchy, oligarchs ARE the government even under a facade of plausible deniability.

What's "not how they would work"? Some societies are obviously not limited to a single ethnicity. Such as most countries on earth today. As well as more than a few historical ones, such as Rome.

Sure, but no one really does that, you think any representative/senator is reading every bill?
If a representative or senator is voting on a bill, they're supposed to know what it contains, yes. We elect them to vote on legislation. The ones with a shred of integrity will read what they're voting on, or know its damn contents.

This "Covid bullshit" you think happened is based on a photoshop. I'm not entertaining this.

If you're trying to shift the goalposts to talking about other policies/public health guidance, rather than the photoshop you fell for, then I'm not interested.

Fabers replacement has the chance to do the fumiest thing. Starting their caretaker term but decreeing the migrant children can go to the Efteling after all.

An Illinois Representative got angry that a "Muslim" led prayers in the House.

She changed her post from "Muslim" to "Sikh" and then deleted it entirely, probably after someone explained that there's a difference and that not every "brown person who dresses weird" is a Muslim.

It's funny: I can't find anything in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution that says America is "a Christian nation". Of course, the "Christian Club" thinks that any reference to God is a confirmation of their beliefs alone and that anyone else should just shut up and go away.

I wouldn't count Musk out. He's got a lot of dirt on Trump. He now has a lot of dirt on every US citizen

That being said, Trump has done crimes and gotten away with it. I don't know if anything would take him down. That's beside the government having bigger teeth.

Edit: Musk bought a clown and doesn't get to complain when the circus comes to town

He's already a convicted felon and adjudicated racist. What sort of dirt do you imagine anyone has that makes any difference?

I think Trump could be taken down in public estimation, but it would take a huge and cohesive effort by the US right to do so: Congress, media, and more. They've already demonstrated that they won't.

The only thing Trump can do is wreck his own reputation, and despite myriad demonstrations of incompetence, ineffectuality, waste and general uselessness, his side has rallied around to protect him every time. He would need to do something properly and obviously serious to shake their trust, like oversee a recession. For instance, he's tanked the US economy Q1 2025 with stupid tariffs, but it will very likely recover to modest overall growth for the year, and that would be excused or forgotten.

Time to bring libtard Newscum to heel.

What comes first? The inevitable security failure or bye-bye social security.

This is either not going to happen, or it'll be another quickly-ended TACO, or it'll watered-down into triviality.

Trump narcissistic power fantasy is like a disturbed child kicking an anthill. Toying with and hurting weaker people, making them react to his bullshit, makes him feel powerful. He likes causing chaos, bullying and threatening. He has terrible impulse control. But at the end of the day when he encounters enough resistance, he's a chicken not willing to go through with anything that major.

It' s not a TACO, it's kayfabe. California alone is 14% of US GDP, and a donor state to the tune of a hundred billion dollars per annum. It's the last state the federal government wants to get into a budgetary pissing contest with.

Trump can FA with red states as much as he likes because he has dickless sycophants in the governor's offices and legislatures, not to mention the slavery government hordes of crypto fascist idiots who'll vote for him, but when he starts that with A-list blue states he'll FO real fast. Trump's an egotistical fool, but his keyholders and pay piggies aren't.

Newsom and his pack are spineless neoliberal shills, but they have keen senses of political self-preservation and they know it's their asses on the line if they don't push back.
