The 360 filled the vacuum that the ps3's early failure left, but eventually even that console came up ahead cause of longevity and exclusives. Thing is, sony learned from their mistake moving forward, while MS doubled down on theirs with x1 so here we are.
The funny thing about the 360 is that Microsoft rushed it to market to beat out the PS3 and those consoles weren't calebrated properly so you had a ton of them fail with the red ring of death, often times forcing people to buy another 360 which artifically inflated the 360 sales numbers as many of those first gen systems needed to be replaced.
Sony did learn from the mistake of having a crazy system architecture, and fixed that with the Ps4 for sure. I think publishers pushed for more parody between porting games between console versions, and Sony understood that a system with no games is useless. Which ironically is a lesson that MS is struggling to learn now. What i dont understand about the whole thing is how MS can buy up all these studios and have nothing to show for it. I can only think of 4 games in this generation that MS managed to get their studios to release.
Starfield - which sucks
Oblivion 4 Remaster - doesn't suck but it's just a remaster.
Hi Fi rush - great game, fuck the studio let's disband it apparently.
Halo Infinite - which also sucks.
So...I don't understand...what's MS's plan here. Scalebound was the coolest thing they've revealed in ages and ended up canceling it.
