I got pulled over earlier this week. The officer claimed, I had my the phone in my right hand while driving. While true, I wasn't looking at it, I was just trying to put it in its charger, and I was at a stoplight anyway. I chose not to fight it because I had too much going on this week. He did me a "favor" by making it less than $200. He charged me $180. The only good thing out of this is that no points go on my record, because my driving record is so great to begin with.

Michigan enacted a new phone law all the way back in 2021. Various counties and districts in michigan barely ever upholded, or only do it to fill a quota. Safety important, but most cops in my area aren't gonna pull you over unless they physically see you have your phone in your hand with the window open. I did pave the bill earlier this week.So I wouldn't have to worry about it later.

That cop must have x ray or something, because he wouldn't have known otherwise. It wouldn't surprise me if they have devices like that now.
That's bullshit. Seeing a phone in your hand at a stoplight? What is illegal or dangerous about that that a cop would feel the need to make a stop? I could see if you were talking on it or looking at it instead of the road while your car was moving, but just having it in your hand is dumb. Must have been a slow day for crime in Michigan; I can only imagine the more important calls he missed while writing you a ticket and cutting you a $20 break over absolutely nothing. And as to that $20 break, a couple of decades ago, I got a much deserved speeding ticket for doing +100mph on the highway; I pulled over before the cop I flew by even turned on his lights, and admitted guilt without arguing, so he cut me a break by not writing me a reckless endangerment fine, and my ticket was about $180; you paid the same for holding your phone at a stoplight? Inflation is a b*tch, I guess.

In that vein, I've recent learned it's apparently a stoppable offense to eat or drink (like soda or coffee) while driving. WTF? Why do cars have cupholders then?? Why do truck stops sell French fry holders for truckers? Why are phone holders used by basically every Uber driver since forever not considered "distracted driving paraphernalia?"

Writing a group paper in school, our groupmate just messaged two days before the deadline that she read the instructions and was shocked to find out our professor requires in-text citations. Which her clearly AI generated filler paragraphs do not have.

This is a Master's programme, in a supposedly prestigious school. Sigh.

How do you get onto a Masters degree and not do in text citations as a matter of course, let alone be surprised that they want them?

I'm sure she'll be able to find a fancy chatbot to generate some for her.

I dunno about everywhere else, but in Australia it is a ticketable and fineable offence to have your phone in your hand at any time while the vehicle is on the road; stopped or otherwise.

I had to pay 600 dollars to mix, and match 2 32 gb ram kits. All because HP just had to make custom HP RAM that can't work with anything other than other custom HP RAM of that EXACT model. It was either that or buy a new 2K computer since my education requires me to use high ram computers and to future proof it.

And that's why you never buy an HP or Dell computer. Too many propriety parts.

I'd add Apple in there, but no one who's buying an Apple computer is planning on fixing or upgrading anything anyway.

If true, I definitely second the WTF. Though one wonders if they stop people modifying the car themselves to get access, or just assume most people won't bother.

I got matched with a girl on a dating app; So many common interests, we shared a laugh, things were going great.

Then we went our separate ways 6-8 hours later; She said she is someone who doesn't really like to wait, and my response rate was too slow.

I was replying while working and had brief breaks, on top of not trying to say anything stupid.

Oh well, there are other opportunities! She really didn't seem like a bad person.

Eh, sounds like someone who doesn't appreciate patience as a virtue. If she literally has just come into your life, I can't imagine her demand be that she be the #1 priority in it. Yeah, keep fishing, but have your own demand of potential women that they should chill and let things evolve naturally, not at some arbitrary rate that satisfies their ego.

Welp, since Trump decided his "no new wars" promise was a mild suggestion when he started a new war in Iran within his first year in office, Formula 1 has cancelled the Saudi Arabian and Bahrain GPs for the 2026 season, so I'm getting 2 fewer races and still paying the premium to Apple TV to see what remains. I'm paying more for literally everything and getting less. "Thanks, Trump" since "thanks, Obama" was a common expletive from right-wingers when they didn't get their way when our President was actually trying to do his job for all of us, and not just the bootlickers kowtowing to the whims of a malignant, warmongering narcissist.

Life mostly back on track, but Jesus are these pills making it difficult. Just a giant weighted blanket of 'fuck it, why get out of bed' and not much else, but have to take them under threat of going back into the psych ward so...

Only upside to this whole mess is that since the hospital marked me as acutely disabled, I may qualify for disability benefits from social security.

I was using https://hianime.to as my primary.

I have some back-ups, so it's fine, but I liked the layout and functionality of that site more.
Good. You can add my recommendation to the list. They will always help you in a pinch. Just make sure to activate ad blocker when you need it.

Maybe there are different pills you could try? I think side effects can vary even between brands, it's probably worth talking with your doctor.
