No doubt, but the review embargo issue is something that could’ve been handled better. I0 knows this and given their pedigree their word should have some pull with the new pub given how wet behind the ears and undoubtedly corpo they are.

Also. They should still ditch the denuvo crap.
I will agree with that, but again, that's the problem with the whole review system in the first place. What IO act it didn't help, they didn't create the issue to begin with systematically. You are more than fair on the denuvo.

To be fair, Skill Up also says the beginning of the game sucks, despite liking the game overall.
One small part of the beginning doesn't hurt the entire thing. Meaning your panic was meaningless and you jumped to conclusions way too soon. I get these games are expensive and everything, but that's why you should wait for more than just a blurb from a site you don't even like nor trust in the first place. SkillUp and the rest who actually do their jobs only further prove my point.

Do I hear $2 B?
You know what? the people investing in that thing deserve to never have it at this point. Everytime this game pops up, they are selling another $5000 ship and people keep buying it, so fuck them I guess.

The embargo from what I hear only gives reviewers a limited amount of time to put all their thoughts out at once, and rush it.
This is the paradox of gaming reviews. Either you're in a good relationship with the publisher in order to get it early, in which case your review is inherently suspect, or you get it at the same time as everyone else, in which case everyone will complain either "where's the (insert game here) review already?!" or "you obviously rushed through this game to get a review out". Of the three scenarios, I prefer the second, because I will always approve of whiny jackasses not getting what they want, but it's an inescapable issue.

Do I hear $2 B?
Whatever it takes to give us those realistic bedsheet deformation physics that will redefine gaming!

Of all the games I expected to get DLC in 2027, The Witcher 3 was not on my bingo card.

Maybe this'll finally get me to play it.
FWIW, there were rumors for a while, to the point where some sort of content update was expected. My guess was that they were going to add some small quest(s) that would add a little bit of connective narrative tissue to the Witcher 4.
I'm sure this new expansion will do that but the fact that it's being announced as an "expansion" suggests it might be on the scale of the ~15 hours Heart of Stone or ~30 hour Blood & Wine.

Further speculation: I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that TW4 will take place in a province called Kovir, and area completely new to the games (basically it's similar to Touissant, the area of Blood & Wine, in that it's far away from all the wars and action of the books and games. Touissant is way south, while Kovir is way north).
So I won't be surprised if this expansion is also in Kovir, allowing for a new map and everything that comes with it. This would be excellent marketing and cross-promotion for The Witcher 4. Each could have a quest with the other character in it as an NPC or briefly playable (as TW3 already has quests where you play as Ciri briefly).

New Witcher 3 expansion pack announced for next year!!!! WOOOO!!!
Well, time to re-play witcher 3 I guess! But it means a lot of debugging on my end, since last time I tried to run the game with that big 4.0 update that broke so many mods, and when I spent hours finally getting the game to run, the next patch was released breaking the mods again

It’ll be a tie-in to TW4, and is being codeveloped by Fool’s Theory, who are comprised of some veteran CDPR folks. They are also handling the original game’s remake, which is interesting. In any case it sounds like a full plate.

I know the internet has decided that its the greatest game of all time, but I'd caution that its just not that great and not playing it is perfectly fine. The decade probably hasn't been kind to it, gameplay was dull back then (think assassin creed but without stealth/parkour and more repetitive) and the formula has evolved since then while it, obviously, hasn't. Its 10 hours of excellent writing, thinly spread over 80 hours of pretty boring content (but it has boobs).

I played it to figure out what all the fanfare was about (after finding TW2 really boring), and I kinda regret it.
