One wonders how common that is, and how often the officially dead person dies due to lack of care before it's discovered they aren't dead.
It is a thing that happened often enough that people once included bells in coffins and similar matters. It is less common nowadays because of better training and more thorough testing, but people sometimes really get mistaken for dead.
True, though people thinking you are dead long enough to be buried would take even longer...not sure how common it was, but was a common fear.
Common enough so that Hans Christian Anderson (author of The Little Mermaid) slept with a sign on his bedside table that read "I only seem dead".
And yet, most people today believe he actually is dead. So, I guess a valid concern.
