Honestly, the USA should just break-up. It's the way things are going, so get started. As we can see in the UK, and have seen elsewhere in places, what looks solid can collapse incredibly quickly once such ideas take root.
The Republicans say, even overtly, "We have the power, so fuck you." Trump, dragging almost the entire Republican party with him, has made an entire electoral platform out of contempt for his opponents, even openly trying to defund and disadvantage Democratic cities and states. In response, progressives have become increasingly discontented, vocal and radical. Political discourse is toxic, with nothing but getting one over domestic opponents as the priority.
Why accept the authority of the Senate, when 30% of the population has 70% of the Senate seats, and they tend to vote Republican thus locking in minority rule? What is the point where a wealthy state of 40 million people decides it's fed up being told what to do by half a dozen states with a combined population a tenth the size? Why accept a system where electoral college votes are so out of sync with populations, again leading to minority support presidents that are so hostile to the losing states? Why allow these other minority population states, through these mechanisms, to so clearly stack your own courts against you?
The centre will not hold, so it's time to divide. Start accepting that the USA in this condition is a dead end and get your secession movements going, guys.
