I'm not going to vote for someone who has nothing but contempt for my politics.
Sweet!!! Hey, everybody, you heard that right?!?!?

Joe Biden doesn't need us to vote for him. You can't blame us if he loses now, Joe said he won without us in the Primary. He didn't need us then and he doesn't need us now.

You're going to blame anyway us even though Biden himself has told us in the politest terms to go fuck ourselves but still...

I love listening to all the right wing democrats trying to tell me to support biden after he came out against medicare for all, the green new deal, pretended his son wasn't a crack head and a crook, and promised to increase police spending.

"Look at me. I am the democratic party."

It wasn’t a yes or no question. He should have taken a second and perhaps explained in more presidential language that white supremacist groups are knuckle dragging chucklefucks for whom he has no liking and will not support and that militias are an issue to be debated in courts due to their legality being assured under the second amendment and now the next stupid question please, Mr. Moderator.
It literally was a yes or no question.
You shouldn't be trying this hard to defend what was supposed to be an insanely easy question and Trump verbally shit himself and pretended it didn't stink. Even Fox news, conservative and barely literate Fox News, admits how terribly Trump failed this. And when Fox and Friends thinks you missed the easy question, that's sad.
Fox News is not the metric of how good or bad Trump is. They're the media too. They may not be Democrat loyalists like other networks, but their careers are still very much dependent on sowing controversy and harvesting people's attention. You can't even know what their opinions are, they don't televise honest opinions, it's all just blatant attention grabs to farm ad revenue. Controversy over presidential debates does that just fine for Fox.

Nah. I think a lot of us are going to flip the bird to the fucking Dems for once again deciding to play limbo with their candidate choice and assume the propaganda machine will do the work for them.
The democrats swear up and down that they don't need us, and then get all butt hurt when we don't vote for them.

I'm voting meteor.

You do realize he didn't actually say what that tweet says, right?

Literally none of "Joe Biden doesn't need us to vote for him. You can't blame us if he loses now, Joe said he won without us in the Primary. He didn't need us then and he doesn't need us now." has been said or implied by him or his campaign. Progressive Democrats such as Sanders and AOC openly disagree with those thoughts as well.

Biden doesn't support Medicare for All currently. He supports a public option. This has been his position since the primary and is stated on his website. It's not everything we want (or need), but it's the logical first step towards achieving it. Considering Trump and Co see even the ACA as "evil socialism," the choice is rather clear.

Biden also doesn't support the Green New Deal. He supports the "Biden plan" regarding climate change, which if you actually read his platform, is 50%+ of the GND without the toxic-to-moderates (unfortunately) branding. Again, it's not what we want (or need), but it's 10,000 times better than Trump's plan of arguing climate change isn't a problem and doesn't need to be addressed.

I know its nice and fun to be outraged, but come on mate...

I'll keep this in mind when I'm being shot in the leg by one of those police issued chainsaw guns from gears of war that bidens going to be buying.

What none of you understand is that this rhetoric is what's losing you the election. You compromise with nut jobs so that you can win, but instead just end up compromising your views and losing anyway. If you start at reasonable, and they start at crazy, then when you compromise, you end up halfway to crazy. And then the republicans can make even your reasonable views sound as if they're extreme.

"I did not support M4A, I do not support it now" (52 seconds to 57 seconds)

The question was if he thought he was going too far center and alienating people on the left

He then goes on a minute tangent about things that the "left" want and how he doesn't support them because he supports propping up the shitastic Obamacare system instead.

And it's not "nice and fun" to be outraged, I'd much rather have a Democrat who supported useful shit instead of trying to keep their Corporate Insurance Donors happy while all the people he's supposedly works for (the general population) are getting fucked over...

Nah, I'm going for the good old faithful. I know he didn't win last time, but he's got eternity to get it right, why not start now?

So, couple things.

These debates need to have live fact checking and a score board because people are just lying and they don't give the audience any information so unless you've done your research ahead of time your bias will lead you to pick sides based on feelings and not facts.

If it's not your turn to talk your mic should be turned off. If you wanna interject there should be a silent buzzer you can press and when the other person has allowed it you can get to respond and then your mic will turn on again.

If someone doesn't accept the premise of a question they should be able to reject answering and the moderator should move to a different question, rather than letting grandpa rant on whatever he wants for 2 minutes.

All that being said, I definitely enjoyed Trump's performance way more as far as entertainment goes. Politically I do not support his positions but I can understand why people who are way closer to the center than me on economics would vote for him. He just says whatever the fuck he wants. He doesn't even give a damn. He would just randomly comment some snide remark during Biden's droning overly-rehearsed answers which would get me to chuckle and by the time I focused again Biden would be done talking. I dunno if it's just the democrats being really terrible at communication or what but they're losing to him in the political theatrics and they should be destroying him by all means. Biden only came alive one time and it was when he talked about his dead son, who I think woulda been a livelier debater than he was.

These are all good ideas.

The first one though. I don't think a team lf fact checkers could keep up with Bidens inaccuracies, let alone Trump's. Trump uses the Shapiro method. Throw a bunch of information out, hopefully unrelated and watch people flounder trying to figure out which error you should attack first. The more lies the better to confound more. But make sure you have one truth because you can just say, 'this one is true so all my other statements are true.'

Yeah, Biden's lines really felt overly rehearsed and he didn't adequately anticipated on Trump's bullying. Trump might not be the smartest but he's very quick on his feet and Biden was just way open for his attacks. He bumbled, tripped over his words. He can't help that ofcourse but it isn't in his advantage. When Biden started talking directly into the camera to 'the American people' it was even a bit cringey at times. I'm also not sure if the eye lift was that good an idea. It made him look insecure because the bully always called him 'sleepy'.

The Democrats try to be too calculated by choosing a candidate of 'the middle' but it doesn't work against Trump. Trump is too colorful and someone too milquetoast on issues just gets under snowed by Trump's constant barrages. As an outsider looking at this debate I really don't see how anyone could consider Biden the 'winner'.

My prediction right now is advantage to Biden. Though I think there's an increasing chance of some year 2000 level shenanigans after the election.
Even those aside I reckon there’s a better than even chance Trump will retain the presidency - you know obvious acts of God notwithstanding - because it’s been a while since I remember a one term president in the US. Of course my cognitive memory of them starts at Clinton so there’s bound to be examples if you go back further.

I agree with maybe half of these.

Who does the "fact checking," and how do we clear them of bias? Especially when they're having to make instantaneous decisions in front of a live audience? Fact checking has always been a bad idea. It's just a dog whistle for "filtering statements through biased propaganda." It completely removes any nuance from a discussion.

What will the score board be based on? How do you decide who gets a point? Why do they get one? How do you, once again, remove bias from the equation? You can't, it's ridiculous. It's like when a certain unamed group called for "objective video game reviews that only state facts." Even if such a review could exist, it would be worthless.

I only point these out because I keep seeing both parties demand them, as if any kind of objectivity could be agreed upon in something as complex as politics.

You stance on the mics is a legitimately good idea. It would avoid last nights shitshow, atleast.
