Honestly, if he dies I have no idea what the effect would be on the election. Like we've not had anything like that happen any time recently. Like does his campaign (no doubt inherited by the VP pick) lose momentum? Does it stay the same? Can't imagine it gains.

I don't want to have suffered through Trump for 4 years only for Pence to win another fours years as a republican. And given Pence's hawkishness on foreign policy, I doubt most of the world will either.

Pence defeated Hillary's VP pick, Tim Kaine, in a Vice-presidential debate. If it's him vs Biden he will win due to Pence being younger, and more politically savvy, if it's him against Harris, and Harris comes out swinging at him, he will win because Trump set the standard so low for republicans in a debate. That and the idiot news media, and much of the American people like it when a calm midwestern person tells them things they want to hear vs angry black women talking about the truth of say racism, etc.

By the way, I am just stating that I believe the MSM will state Harris is an angry black woman, or at least I fear the framing.

If I were Biden's team I would immediately start doing opposition research on Pence, and look over every day of his record as Indiana's governor, and that' the easy part, the hard part's finding out how to counter his midwestern appeal.

I think that this specific topic deserves it's own thread over a general coronavirus thread as this is not just about coronavius, it's about a specific individual and the effect it can have on the election (not a coronavirus topic) and the presidency (also not a coronavirus topic)
