Well Wokeness tends to lead to bad writing out of a desire to lecture the audience or place the politics of a piece ahead of the plot or series internal logic and consistency.
If you can't write without shitting on somebody for being born different, then you're a shitty writer.

It's the "you have bad morals" thing that inspires pages of posts. If it weren't for the whole "you're a bigot if you dislike this!" we wouldn't be having any of these conversations, because then people wouldn't feel the need to defend themselves.

Take your example about plastics in the ocean. Who contributes more to plastics in the ocean, big companies, or you and me? Big companies, of course. So when media comes out and blames you and me for the plastic in the ocean, instead of the big companies dumping more of it into the ocean in one year than both of us contribute in an entire lifetime, you can understand why people would object to that right? They would object to being called a horrible person, and object to the media for painting it that way, and object to being called a Captain Planet supervillain by people who misunderstand why they're objecting to it.
You're the guys telling everyone women etc. cant act a certain way and demanding that they appease your needs. Have all the justification you want, that's the facts of this thread. That justification might make sense to you, it doesn't at all justify it to me. But instead of just watching something else, you gotta get on your soapbox, tell everyone they are wrongthink

Media is judgy. Get used it. I had to live through plenty of judgy media I dont like. Media ALWAYS judges. There is no apolitical media. If you hadnt noticed this yet, it because it was so one sided. Because apparently talking about plastic in the ocean is so politically bad

Are those the facts? I bet you can't quote me or anyone else "telling women etc. that they can't act a certain way" and/or "demanding that they appease our needs".

Media ALWAYS judges.
Who does Mario judge? Kidnappers?

And bad writing is easy. That's why there's so much of it.
A few hundred movies a year happen per year (except this one). Most are terrible. Which ones are point out as terrible, particularly on YouTube? Women and minorities. Meaning that there is a higher standard of quality placed on them

So it's not that Drake is good at fighting. Everyone he's ever fought has just absolutely sucked at fighting so that zero of them are better than "a good bar room brawler", despite being trained soldiers.

Nadine, a woman (entirely by coincidence), is the only person who ever graduated to Martial Arts 102. In fact, she's so skilled that she can take on two men, bigger than her, and not even get hit once. Because she's just that good and everyone else is just that bad.

This isn't contradictory, just very silly. So silly, you have to wonder whether or not Nadine was just feminist wish-fulfillment to push the idea that there are no meaningful differences between men and women.

I don't see how that is me "telling women that they can't act in a certain way".
That's me finding it implausible that a smaller woman can beat Drake and Sam, 2v1, because that breaks the established rules of the game's universe.

I mean, if I had said "Nadine shouldn't be able to shoot lasers out of her eyes", you can see how that's not a misogynistic statement, right?

So my least favourite companion is Rose. I think she is an obnoxious teen who is more trouble than she is worth. Most things just happen to her without her being involved. She isnt well written and they spend far too much time with her family, unlike later when just go for a few visit. It's the kinda of teen that you'd see on Gossip Girl (without all the money). I really didn't like how she was shipped with the Doc at all. Mickey ended up being the better and well rounded character in the end. I certainly prefer a Bill, or even a Clara over Rose.
That's a strange position to take when really Rose's arc was about discovering how powerful / capable she was on her own.

Clara had potential but then I think they lost it.

Bill had potential too but got reduced so much to her identity it ruined her as a character, she didn't seem to have much personality.

You know what I dont blame it on? Wokeness. Just bad writing. Kinda goes with fart aliens and mannequin bad guys. And the last season of cybermen floaty heads were not as cool as someone thought in their head
Fart Aliens = Well that kind of worked and was somewhat of a more silly episode admittedly but not that egregious.

Mannequin bad guys = The Autons are a long standing Doctor Who villain.

Cybermen floaty heads = yeh makes 0 sense especially in terms of the series lore before that point. Cybermen are still part living beings, hell in the past Cybermen having their heads knocked off have generally died pretty quick in the shows past.

Just one little thing. Preachy being a problem? That makes me feel like you haven't Doctor Who before. Maybe she's doing a 9/10 on the preach scale. All of them preach all the time, with the lowest being Eccelstein at an 8. Capaldi 8.8, Smith 8.4, Tennant 8.6. The Doctor is a judgy, preachy character. (Like, I probably would put Capaldi on top but I know you have a hate boner for Whittaker so I put him down a little. Didnt want to offend you too much, but then I decided against it. Be offended as you want). As to Yaz, Id agree, I dont think they knew what to do with her. I dont think this new writer is good at overall season arcs at all. But the last two got up their own arses with season arcs... so IDK. I'm not happy either way
There's judgy and preachy of actions of characters round them then there's doing it seemingly towards the audience or to make some kind of point at the audience like a G.I. Joe PSA.

The final Capaldi series had it's preachy moments and guess what, it got low ratings too. Until series 12 I'd have said his was more preachy but Series 12 for Whitaker managed to surpass Capaldi's stuff.

Anyway, if media judging you, maybe you have bad morals? Like, I get that people don't want to be talk to about plastics in the ocean. It encourages you to do something. But getting offended at it? That's got more to do with your not willingness to help than the show having a bad message. I was told by media when I was little that gays are bad, women can only do certain things, men need to be violent. I just stopped watching the show. I didnt spend pages on threads demand the show cater for my needs. If you dont like something, it is very okay to just stop. Or go watch repeats of what you like.
I literally have a degree in Environmental Chemistry, I know very well about plenty of issues facing the world and I get maybe 2 single use carrier bags per year because they're specialist wrapping paper ones so I can carry wrapping paper home, which BTW goes into recycling and I avoid the shiny non recyclable kind. I don't need encouraging to do it by a show, you know what works a lot better? regulation and action by industries. I'm sitting here writing this with in my bathroom a thing of face wash with crushed pumice in it, which is an alternative to microbreads and wasn't used as much because it was more expensive for companies to do. What stopped microbeads in the UK was the government banning their use.

You know the episode about plastics in the ocean? as you are such a moral person can you point out the big giant problem in the episode that undermines the whole point?

If not I'll happily explain it but it makes the whole episode come off as hollow once you know about it.

People who want to do things about it already are and people who don't won't likely be swayed to action by Doctor Fucking Who. You know what was more effective for me to see in showing the plastic issue? A Sea turtle having to have a plastic straw pulled out of it's nose.

You know what is a better solution? Industry change like the project a friend of mine is working on to make biodegradable disposable plastic substitutes using seaweed.

A you pointed out the show was sending you messages when you were little..........The episodes of Doctor Who that came off as lecturing people you can look at and they very much don't seem like they were designed for younger viewers yet they're putting in G.I. Joe esc PSA? What's next don't do drugs because they're addictive and harmful?

Simple. The big ones with lots of hype behind them often being bigged up.

People aren't dunking on "Alice in Deadland" for being bad because it was never promoted.

What is being bigged up as majorly important and so great at present? Batwoman the series.
What isn't being bigged up and majorly important? Stargirl despite Joe Biden literally echoing sentiments from the show itself.......

Certain things are getting bigged up and promoted for lets say stupid reasons while other show are getting left in the dust it seems because they're not doing the "ra ra ra you're trash we're great" thing.

Easy to move the goal-post. It's a never ending parade.
Those shit writers are hired for a reason. Before this trend they wouldn't get picked up by anyone, and their scripts would be thrown in the bin where they belong. Instead there is a transparent push to correct course with hiring practices and accept people for roles and positions simply based on the labels they have. Which is what gave us wonderful things like the batwoman series.

Houseman: I don’t see how it’s telling women they can’t act a certain way
Also Houseman, in the next sentence mind you: Women can’t act a certain way because of my beliefs

Thanks for literally proving my point.

You can think this all you want. You can find it implausible all you want. These justification might work for you. Other people think differently and are fine with it. One reason is because Drake is implausible himself. But someone else already has been over this ground.

But the overall thing is: don’t take these apparently woke power fanatsy from people and they shouldn’t take the power fantasy away from you

No I pointed out a bunch of diverse things I like.

Wokeness is different to diversity as I explained before.
Woke ness is diversity that you don’t like. Got it.

You know that Ripley was woke as fuck for her time. What’s the difference? None. Because people whined like this back then. They just didn’t use the word woke because the term hadn’t been created yet.

Not every diverse thing is going to be of top notch quality. Because that’s impossible It’s also not a standard you place on males. They can be crappily written and it’s not an offense.

Except I didn't say "Women can't act a certain way because of my beliefs", and I have no idea why you think that what you quoted is saying that.

It isn't "women acting in a certain way". I'm not talking about women, plural. I'm talking about one woman, singular. Nadine.

And I'm not talking about Nadine "acting" in any "certain way". I'm talking about Nadine being realistically able (according to the rules established in the game world), to do this one specific thing.

Don't twist my words.

You can think this all you want. You can find it implausible all you want. These justification might work for you. Other people think differently and are fine with it. One reason is because Drake is implausible himself. But someone else already has been over this ground.
Oh really? Well thank you. Because it seems like everybody has been on my case for having an opinion!

But the overall thing is: don’t take these apparently woke power fanatsy from people and they shouldn’t take the power fantasy away from you
What power do you think I have over the game industry, exactly? What danger do you think I pose?

Ah yes, because bad movies have never been made before. This is only a problem now when woke people turned up.

No I explained before why I see Wokeness and diversity as different things.

Generally Wokeness is either:

1) Done in a way clearly not thought through

or

2) Done in a way to try and take shots at others or present superiority.

As an example of 1) Alex Rider the TV show giving is a Black girl Nazi and deciding the race swap Alex Rider essentially Nanny / house keeper for a black woman while also race swapping one of the senior operatives in the Department and Alex's hander to being white. They also put a female character in not in the original book who ends up being little more than a Damsel in Distress and implied love interest.

As an example of 2) Batwoman - "The Suit will be perfect when it fits a woman" and other such lines.
