Yeah I recall seeing the trailer for it when it first was teased, and thinking Angua was a dwarf. Like I thought she might've been Cheery, given the size difference between her and Carrot in most of the shots, and what was implied to be a history between them. And I thought "Oh yeah ok, that makes sense. He was raised by Dwarves, so the idea that they might pair him off with the Dwarf character for comedic bits makes sense, I'm liking this!....what's what you say? ...that's ANGUA!?" *blink....blink* "....oooooookaaaay"
I didn't have an issue with her "look" perse, as I've known lots of short haired, punky girls, who look totally feminine, so that part was fine for me. But when they said the clearly REALLY short actress, was NOT playing a race known for being short, and also badass (Yes I know Cheery isn't a badass, but still, the Discworld Dwarves are awesome), I was very skeptical of the quality of the show.
I think I could have dealth with Angua being short better than with Cheery randomly being tall. Like, Carrot being a very tall human who was raised as a dwarf was pretty much the joke. And they actually kept that joke in the series, he was still sent by his parents to join the Watch because he was getting too tall to live among dwarves. But then there's Cheery and she's just randomly a human sized dwarf too and the just handwave it away.
Yeah that is rather silly that Cheery is human sized...but still a dwarf....especially if they do the "he's too tall for dwarf homes" joke. Like I've never really given a shit about making characters be visually accurate to the source material, because often the characters are depicted unrealistically for actual human bodies to replicate, without insane amounts of diet/training, that is frankly unhealthy, or simply just NOT physically possible. So things like "yeah but the book character is blonde, this is a mixed ethnicity brunette." I mean...ok? So? Is she a GOOD ACTRESS? That can convey the spirit/emotion of the character? Yes? Then I don't give fuck all about what she looks like.
But directly contrasting two characters, who have, at the very least, their height, as a key part of all of the jokes/drama about them, be reversed, and ignored just seems....very silly. It's like hiring nothing but people like Peter Dinklage to play a race of giants in a show, and then hiring nothing but people over 7ft to play a race of pixies, that you digitally reduce. I mean just....why?
I watched Raised by Wolves.
It's a strange series. I loved the world building and the aesthetics, and there were some good performances. It reminded me a lot of Lost, both in positive and negative ways. Particularly in the last episode, where it pulled the old Lost trick of showing all this new stuff to distract you from all the unanswered questions.

Episode 1 of The Watch. Maybe it's one of those shows that starts off slow, but this first outing leaves a thoroughly mediocre impression. It's pretty much what PsychedelicDiamond said. There's nothing really there, least of all any of the wit and charm that makes its source material so endearing. But worst of all, petty as it may seem, I hate the way Death looks and above all the way he sounds:

You starting with Phantom Blood? Or skipping straight to one of the later series?
Phantom Blood of course. I don't skip stuff XD. Once I finish all of the 5 parts I'll go back and watch the much older adaptations too.

Honestly, it feels less like worse animation than rushed. There are some really well animated moments and fights (Sourface's reaction to the Bakuzan Super Fight and Garou's fight against the A-Class heroes), the problem is that there seems to be a bit of taking still frames from the manga, and they can't blend in the computer generated assets with the rest of the animation (the metal textures in particular). My main problem however is that fact that this season both feels very much like the sort of stuff this series was parodying in the first place with the Super Fight arc and the fact that this season feels very much like the middle movie of a trilogy, where it spends its whole time setting up plot points for the next one. Still enjoyable though, and the dub is rather good too.

I liked the more stand-alone anthology style short arcs in the first season more. There's nothing in season 2 that's as good as the meteor episode from season 1. Season 2 is still good with a lot of fun moments, but the really good moments also feel more watered down because the story has to tie together from episode to episode instead of just going wherever it wants to go, which is part of what made season 1 so fun.
Good. Not so much for plotrelated reasons due to watching stuff out of order or anything, but because the later seasons are imo just way better and going back to S1-2 after S3-5 feels like a major downgrade in creativity.
I just finished s1 and it feels like a classic 80s sort of thing, definitely not the most creative thing ever, even a little reminiscent of Hokuto no ken at times. It's honestly kinda what I was expecting and it also feels like a prequel/backstory building type of thing, something to wind up stuff before it really gets going.
But yeah definitely very dramatic haha.
edit: Wow Joseph is voiced by Sugita, he's way cooler than Jonathan haha. I already am even more hooked with part 2. Jonathan felt a little miss-matched between his personality and voice but Joseph fits right in.

Yeah, it's not until part 3 Stardust Crusaders that the series starts hitting its stride, with the introduction of Stands yeah, yeah, minor spoiler, but cmon, can you call yourself a manga/anime fan if you don't know about Stands?. From part 3 on, storylines become more complex, characters more well-developed and flamboyant, the poses more fabulous. Fights become more intricate, more about overcoming your enemy through mind games and creative use of both abilities and weaknesses than about actual physical combat, sometimes ludicrously so.
Tho imo it doesn't truly peak until part 7 Steel Ball Run, tho that of course does not have an anime.
The last thing I watched was an enacted documentary about Stockholm Bloodbath of 1520. I honestly thought it was great.
The titular bloodbath was the outcome of a Danish king taking the throne of Sweden by warfare and signing a peace agreement guaranteeing the safety of the signers provided they accept him as their king, only for him later lock them in during his crowning to hold a sham trial and have them executed(it's more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it).
They went through both the war and how the various actors of the conflict thought and the various powers at stake. It was downright A Song of Ice and Fire-ian, and once they got to the bloodbath they laid out on what grounds they stood accused and who's idea to enact a massacre might have been, since there were plenty of people behind the scenes that all could have played their part.
Since I knew beforehand that the lowly nobleman Gustav Vasa would eventually have the throne I strangely appreciated that they didn't dwell much on him and instead put focus on the Swedish king before the Danish one took over, since their perspective was one I didn't know much about.
I did think they repeated themselves in part though.

Finally got around to watching Haikyuu. Enjoying it so far, never been one for sports animes but they keep it pretty grounded. I've always enjoyed volleyball but never got around learning all the rules, so it's nice how they gradually introduce concepts through the audiences at the matches. I've seen clips of the next few seasons and honestly the art style change is really jarring, but I'll get there when I get there.
The Watch episode 2. At one point Vimes and Lady Ramkin pay a visit to the archchancellor of Unseen University. Can't remember what for anymore, but I do remember one throwaway line at the start of the scene of the archchancellor explaining one of his recent discoveries is that the world is a sphere.

Just finished Battle Tendency, I enjoyed it way more than Phantom Blood, Joseph is just a cool and fun protag, through and through. Also the support cast was great this time around, though they did my boy Ceasar dirty ;-;. The villains were interesting too, having Solid Snake as one of the main antagonists is never a bad idea haha. Also this fixed my biggest issue with the first season, which was how they never really explained the hamon training stuff and they kinda skipped into Jonathan being able to do it after a short montage. It's still not completely explained but at least they give it a more believable training period of a month before Joseph is able to use it properly. Also I love how this seems to be like a generational torch-passing thing but I hope whoever Zeppeli's descendant is doesn't meet the same fate in part 3 lol. Also it's cool how they subverted expectations with that nazi soldier, he's the type you'd expect to be irredeemably evil and die like a chump but he ends up being surprisingly honorable and reliable.
Also yeah Jojo's is getting generally more and more fabulous by the minute, all those overdramatic poses keep increasing XD.

No actually, both the manga and the anime tv series are in chronological order, both in-universe and in terms of release date. Not counting the manga-only parts 7 and 8 which rebooted the franchise in a new continuity.
But part 3 Stardust Crusaders is where the series introduced most of the elements that would come to define Jojo as more than a fabulous and scrumptiously dramatic but otherwise kind of unremarkable 80's battle manga and gain its own identity. So you are kind of right in calling it the start, in a sense. Stardust Crusaders is also where most of the Jojo memes outside those involving Dio Brando come from, so you might have some "oh, so this is where that's from" moments.
Sharpe’s Rifles - 10/10
This show is the reason Sean Bean dies in lots of things he’s in. Because the mad bastard that is Richard Sharpe should have been dead forty times over by the time this show finished. It’s also a great adventure period show with a strong lead, likeable side characters and some despicable villains. There are something like fourteen of these Tele movies and they’re all great.
