The only thing I can think of is since there's like a 20ish year gap, they could have Thrawn show up, tear the NR shit up for a few years, finally get taken down and then the NR is still hurting when the First Order shows up.
What I've always thought would be a good play, is to ignore how heavily Thrawn was tied into the Yuuzhan Vong in later EU works (because fuck the Vong) and go with the earlier interpretation of the character among fans and in select works following the original trilogy. That being, Thrawn was a double agent for the Chiss Ascendancy, using his status, influence, and the degree of respect offered him by Palpatine as a means to continually redirect the Empire's gaze away from the Ascendancy...a move in which Palpatine never had any interest to begin with, as the Ascendancy was too far away, too small, and too isolated from the rest of the galaxy to be worth conquering.

So female streamers get no end of shit, from "being bad at games" to "skating by on looks" to "being fake" to whatever else morons complain about...

but if you slap an anime avatar and a backstory onto them...

Vtubers get this shit too, it's just coming from a different source than the shit regular streamers get (it's coming from sex-negative sjws, anime haters and jealous female streamers who like to be assholes and still make money)

I think it's more about the attitude the anime avatared streamers take. They're a lot less antagonistic (when they're not being antagonistic in a joking or entertaining manner).

Prime example:

I don't think most regular female streamers would act this way and surprisingly, audiences enjoy kindness and sweetness more than negativity and insults in their entertainment. (don't forget, if you're a professional streamer, your job is to make your audience happy, not yourself feel good about making fun of losers lol)

I just realized that both the Witcher and Mass Effect franchise, have almost identical looking brunettes with attitudes, who are barren, and are HIGHLY motivated to have a baby.

That's....just odd in some way to me.

I remember him and he had a correct statement about how Japanese did sucked back then and Compile Heart and PQube going: How low can we go?

While games based off of anime are in better state now than most were back in early 3D days, there are still issues. Alot of them just adapt the shounen genre and not much else. They've mostly turn in to bog standards arena fighters. I may not like Naruto, but at least Cyber Connect 2 tries something unique with the anime games they make. Even if their design template is a more advanced version of what they did for Asura's Wrath. I do look forward to their Demon Slayer game. I still have not watched it yet.

But where's my Cowboy Bebop game, and not just the ones from the PS1/Ps2 days? Where is a new Ghost in the Shell? Alita? Ninja Scroll? An open world Black Lagoon game? I would take a Panty and Stocking game just for variety sake.

The best anime games from last gen are Dragonball FighterZ (which is their version of Marvel vs. Capcom) and Kill La Kill IF. IF may be an 3D arena fighter, but it's got more in depth gameplay and fighting mechanics than the standard usual fair. Its main flaw being the lack of much bonus content and a lack of a large roster. The game could have used a couple more characters. At least IF bothered to bring back all of the English dub voice actors from the anime. Something a lot of arenas fighters don't bother doing just to save some extra money.

You know Jump All Stars really screwed itself over by not making Light and Ryuuk Playable by saying he would be too OP. My idea was that Light's goal of KOing his foes is to make a character's stick and Ryuuk has to weaken his foes enough that they cannot be brought from the afterlife using whatever resurrection plot device.

You could prolly make a pretty good NTR themed VN with those themes. Though you'd have to be playing matchmaker for your own partner.

Thing is, while people love to ship chars, they HATE any other ship but theirs, and in a game where you're forced to play matchmaker, you run into the issue of you hating the ships that you are allowed way more than finding good ones.

The thing with playing matchmaker is that you have control over it, while shipping is more like...observing organic chemistry and in some cases jumping to the logical conclusion, in other cases filling the blanks with your imagination and in other cases just making shit up cause you delusionally think it'd be cool. Like for a recently-controversial example, I think it was an obvious thing to ship Sesshomaru and Rin in Inuyasha, not because I was particularly fond of that relationship, but because that's where it was going and I could just see it clear as day, but now that in Yashahime Rin has had his babies you get all these angry shippers making noise about it as if it wasn't obvious. Like...Sesshomaru was not gonna date Inuyasha no matter how many fanfics you write lol.

But yeah I mean, you could make some sort of game where the main char is an old king marrying of his sons or daughters to neighboring families and so on and so forth. Could definitely be a lot of fun.
Mm. I think what you say is one of the problems with that VN I brought up many months ago. I saw a bit of someone playing it and the options seemed very off, one prologue relationship just looked like two friends and another had zero chemistry.

What waste of game. I hate everything about Jump All Stars. The "realistic" graphics and art style that don't fit most of the characters that are already cartoony to begin with. It's nothing on both of the games on the DS. They're missing characters from Shaman King. The only characters I saw worth playing was Yusuke and Kenshiro. And Kenshiro already plays better in the Lost Paradise game.

Yup, pretty much.
I just love the ridiculousness of MGS4, it's kinda like the only logical way to end that storyline honestly. The cheese, ham, and camp is through the roof in that game. Even that Raiden line, "It was never gonna work out for me, it even rained the day I was born!!!" cracks me up every time. Then, you got the voice actor for Liquid hamming it up to 11 during that Chapter 3 cutscene. There will never be another game series like MGS.

It's amazing how much thought and care Kojima put into it, considering how fed up he must've been having to keep making sequels by then. So many little touches both technical and artistic; he could've just phoned it in but there was nothing like it at the time or even to this day, really. If Konami ever got their act together to release a remaster on PS5 that takes full advantage of DualSense I'd buy that before anything else the system had.

Resident Evil 6 would've been a lot better if it had a single campaign focused on Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin instead of the multiple criss-crossing stories thing that it has.

No, I was speaking about the issues you listed in particular, why would I be speak about something else in response to something specific.

You brought up them being called fake, well, the people I list call vtubers fake too for being anime avatars and acting the part. (thing is, this is known to the viewer, there is no pretense that the streamer is an actual shark girl, we all know what we're doing, so people engaging in it don't feel tricked by a realization of fakeness so they have no reason to send hate)

You brought up them skating by on looks, well, again, same criticism, different critic. People constantly complain about the chars being popular because of their looks appealing to a certain audiences (I remember some especially jealous competitor making the case that it was all pedos who liked Gura for example, surely promoting pedophilia through ones looks is at least on par with what people have said about the corporeal streamers and what they use their looks for, if not multiple orders of magnitude more severe)

You brought up them being bad at games....and I'm pretty sure they get made fun of for that just the same, they just, again, react to it differently cause they're in "entertainer mode" and not "shrill harpy" mode when they stream, so a complaint which would turn into a dogpile when met with resistence ends up evaporating in the face of acceptance and cuteness. Maybe there's a lesson to be learned here?

That's all I was responding to, not some other vast thing you're now adding to the pile to deflect my valid points.

Character backstories have almost no bearing on whether a vtuber is popular or not. It's used for fan content and jokes for the vast majority. If we're talking about Hololive, everyone until Gen 3 was scouted by the company to work under their brand because they were already successful and talented streamers before that. Plenty of the girls get made fun of when they do bad at games but it's done in a joking manner.

"Flesh and blood female streamers are in shrill harpy mode when they get called bad at games while vtubers aren't", the fuck
You can get away with a lot more as an anime avatar than a meat body. Can you imagine a female streamer spending 5 minutes straight going after "her audience" and not only getting away with it but getting general approval?

I mean, you see them be in that mode just by obtaining information that their competition is succeeding and they're not even corporeal humans, so imagine if it was an actual direct insult and not an implication of defeat/inferiority. Not exactly a leap for the record books to make lol.

Also, this was not any more general than your "but if you slap an anime avatar onto them" comment above. Unless you now want to say that what follows in that sentence is "nothing actually changes" and not "it's totally different" which is how I took that.

We're both being similarly general and you set out in that path so in my following you there I am not doing anything illogical.

..... I just said that Hololive scouted out their talents from already successful and talented streamers. Gura, the current rising star, was already on the rise as a streamer before she became a vtuber. So no, it's not that having an anime avatar suddenly changes whether someone gets flak or not.
