Also, worst case scenario, but what are the odds this isn't just racism or whatever, but because that dude visited those places expecting to get a happy ending, but they're not actually that kind of place, and those girls basically died because they didn't want to get on this doofus' decrepit dick?

Notably in that this sort of person keeps being taken in alive. Which is how it should be, of course, but why not extend that practice a bit, especially to people who aren't multiple murderers?
We're keeping an eye on this story at the newsroom I work in. We have gotten pretty cynical and numb about news and specifically mass shootings over the years, leading us to have "bets" on stories like this (in quotes because as local journalists we don't really have any money to gamble with.) My over/under on this one is "dirty furriners engineered the covid, infected themselves by eating raw bats, and then brought it here to tuuk all arrr joobbsss." Followed by "*gunshot noise, gunshot noise, gunshot noise*."
Although the actual culprit is most probably broken home, plus rampant poverty, plus some inciting incident (job loss, election not going your way, break up, or a combination) multiplied by the shocking ease with which one can get guns in this country (especially in the south and if you are as white as this guy) equals mass shooting or church and or mosque burning... what ever terrorist activity/hate crime. Just the constant terror that the guy in the next house over could be stockpiling AR 15's and visiting r/gonna kill 'em all, that's the price of freedom. Hooray 'Murica.'

It's weird that republicans have consistently called for Asian Americans to side with them when shit like this happens.

Now being reported (by the police) that he did it because 'Yesterday was a really bad day for him'. I'm not joking. Fuck sake.
He's in custody and told the cops he did it because he's addicted to sex and Asian spas represented too much "temptation" for him.
The sheriff's exact words were, " He was pretty much fed up and kind of at the end of his rope and yesterday was a really bad day for him. And this is what he did."

Herein lies the problem of easy access to guns -- instant and easy gratification via murder. And before anyone blap blap blaps about how easy it is to make a bomb or whatever dopey shit people use to defend the weird US jizz-fest over firearms, he didn't use a fucking bomb because people tend not to have them lying around at home. And, if he had them lying around at home, he's more likely to get busted for it than for the inexplicably legal ownership of a gun.

The frivolity of American gun culture really is sickening. I can almost guarantee that I learned more about safety and responsibility with a knife from a couple years in the Boy Scouts than this murdering schmuck has ever learned about firearm responsibility. American gun culture regards these not as lethal weapons, but toys. You don't have to look any further for proof than social media and various Republican lawmakers.

To anyone who thinks there isn't racial bias in law enforcement, the dude killed 8 people and the police took him alive. And said he was simply having a bad day and they're not sure its a hate crime even though the killer confessed he targeted Asians because he's sexually attracted to them and wanted to remove temptation.
