I've only seen KotM, but would you say this increase in quality, is directly related the amount of time the monsters are on screen bashing shit?I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE! It's now one of my favorite monster bash movies! As far as the Legendary Films ranking goes it's:
I am not saying anything else. These movies get better each time a new one comes out.
- Godzilla vs. Kong
- King of the Monsters
- Skull Island
- Godzilla (2014)

I like that plotline, also it wasn't pointless because it was an explanation and build-up on Mechagodzilla and what's really going on but I said before the villains are underdeveloped so it can feel like a weak pay off to that plotline.Last Jedi flashbacks: The movie divides the human element in two: those escorting Kong as part of the main plot (Skarsgard, Hall, token little girl acting as liaison to Kong), which overall is the fun, actually relevant part of the movie... and then the girl from Stranger Things and two other desperately unfunny comic relief types, going on a totally irrelevant sidequest where they infiltrate a bunch of bases, trying to figure out what an obviously evil company is up to. This is Canto Bight territory. It's bad enough their dialogue is purely expository and desperately unfunny, and that they're as far removed from Kong and Godzilla as possible, or even the other characters from the movie - but they also end up not mattering at all to the overall plot. Their big contribution to the story is emptying a flask on a keyboard (a genius move I remember from a Pete & Pete episode), which distracts Mechagodzilla for a crucial nanosecond during the final battle. And that's it. Half the movie, about 55 minutes, is wasted on a non-event.
I thought the girl from Stranger Things half of the plot was unfunny, boring and pointless. It's unfunny for painfully obvious reasons, and it's boring that we waste half a movie about Kong and Godzilla fighting on three people who barely factor into the overall plot. We don't need a 50 minute buildup for anything you think they contributed to the experience.I FUCKING LOVE IT!
It best of the MonsterVerse movie to me. Best fights, tied with Skull Island as having the best character. Kong and Godzilla are shown at their best here. Mechagodzilla is great but I agree with johnny Novgorod that the final fight was a bit anticlimactic, too short for me. My biggest issue is the Villains are underdeveloped. I like their motivations are more complex and more than just money. Wanting Humans to be the apex predator again but they do nothing meaningful or interesting with it. It's decent motivation is just not developed.

Those two gave me some Bayformer comedic relief vibes. Tho of course, if it were Bay directing, they'd also be way more hyper, racist stereotypes and scream a lot more.her two criminally unfunny friends was hot garbage.
At one point it seemed like they were purposely suicide bombing GodzillaWhy is it that aircraft in these kind of movies always fly within literal arms reach of the big monsters, even though they have missiles with ranges in the dozen of kilometers?
This wasn't Michael Bay levels but I can understand people not like that plot but I did chuckle a few times. my biggest problem with it was less to do with the jokes but how unbelievably easy it was to sneak into this facility. [i/spoiler]I mean, I know why, getting blaster from something so far away you can't even see it, or passing by so fast it's blink and you missed it, isn't very cinematic. Still kind of dumb tho.

....why? Why does using our one genuine talent, our intelligence, and using it to make a device to give us a fighting chance on a playing field that otherwise is ruled entirely by brute force and bulk, automatically make us unfit? It's basically just making a tool for us to wield, and that was something that was apparently ok for Kong to go do. "Hmm, he's kicking my ass, I should go get myself an advantage...oh look! Weapon!"The fact that humans have to make a mechagodzilla only proves we have no business being Apex predator, which in itself implies ill intentions to everything below us. Godzilla is needed to keep our dumbasses in check.
Because I had to.......why? Why does using our one genuine talent, our intelligence, and using it to make a device to give us a fighting chance on a playing field that otherwise is ruled entirely by brute force and bulk, automatically make us unfit? So I'm confused by the logic of your statement in this context. I would say, that after only a handful of years of publicly knowing about these creatures, that humanity was able to 1. Develop technology to MIND CONTROL them, and 2. Replicate the most powerful specimen we'd seen into a giant robot, and control it to do our bidding, as evidence humans DO have business as Apex predator. That we aren't just helpless little apes, running around in terror under the feet of Titans. That we can make our OWN titans, and meet them on equal footing, and declare our own status as a being of this planet. That just because they are the biggest boy, doesn't automatically make them in charge. Now, the motivations of the people making the mech is a different story, but the simple fact that humanity got together and said "ok let's science our way into an even position with these big boys" speaks volumes to the power of humanity as a whole. We aren't strong by ourselves, but we are a Titan together. And any giant monster that thinks they can just stomp all over us and face no repercussions, better watch out, because we might make another Mecha and take you down. *turns off the Pacific Rim music and finishes his cancelling the apocalypse speech*
Yeah, the problem with your speech is that it's the equivalent of this:The fact that humans have to make a mechagodzilla only proves we have no business being Apex predator, which in itself implies ill intentions to everything below us. Godzilla is needed to keep our dumbasses in check.

Like I said before, when you're pleasing fanboys and fangirls too much; they want "more" no matter how much they get what they want, or supposed to be satisfied. Spoiled assholes. I don't need more. I got exactly what I wanted.Godzilla Vs. Kong fans ask to #ContinueTheMonsterverse
Legendary and Warner Bros. haven't revealed any monster plans for after Godzilla Vs. Kong, but fans are making it clear that they want more.film.avclub.com
So is this going to be the new trend now?
Not to mention the way it’s performing breaking COVID screening records and all, it’s not like they wouldn’t have continued it like they’ve been doing anyways. I suppose the spoiled brats like to think they can somehow take credit for it now. Next, they’ll be demanding how they want the movie to be made, who stars, what music is used, how it ends, etc.Like I said before, when you're pleasing Fanboys and fangirls too much, they want "more" no matter how much they get what they want or supposed to be satisfied.
