By that point would that be necessary though?
if it really followed through with it's objectivist "Don't hold yourself back, use your talents, people are not equal and that's okay." message it would be. An objectivist would balk at Dash holding back for the sake of the feelings of others.

Well, if you remember, Dash was ready to pretty much leave his competition in the dust, but his family was yelling at him from the bleachers, telling him to win but not be too fast about it. It's sorta showing that they found a middle ground.

But then I never really liked the epilogue to this movie. The drive of this movie was always this family that had a hard time figuring out their place in the world and the conflicts it brought amongst them. And the final fight and following limo drive/kidnapping attempt felt like the proper ending to that conflict. The final scene just feels way too sugary sweet and happy.

I watched Smilla's Sense of Snow, a sort of mystery thriller. Great movie title, based on a Danish novel of the same name. It's about a half-Greenlandic woman (Smilla) looking into the mysterious death of a kid who lived in her building and she developed a sort of mothering relationship towards, and getting caught in something bigger than her because of it. The plot isn't incredibly original in that sense, but the performance of the actress made Smilla into an interesting, rather feisty protagonist. I don't think it's a movie that's going to stick with me for a long time, but you could do worse.

The Post; the film that dramatizes the leaking and publication of what we now know as the Pentagon Papers. If one allows for writer bias and slant - as all writers have, and most certainly on a piece about the Nixon administration and Vietnam - its a solid drama film about an almost bygone age of journalism and interesting event in political history. Solid acting all around, but hey its fucking Spielberg: were you expecting less?

I, Tonya - 4/5
One of those films you would think was completely implausible if it wasn't a true story. This is a biopic of the figure skater Tonya Harding, the first woman in the US to achieve a Triple Axel jump in a competition. However, she's more famous for her connection to an assault on a fellow figure skater. The film is very upfront about the fact that there are conflicting accounts of basically every event portrayed, with characters repeatedly breaking the fourth wall or being shown in interviews criticising what's being shown. Margot Robbie is really great as the title character. I also really liked Allison Janney as Tonya's abusive mother. It's a really funny, witty film, but also has a lot of pathos for the central character of Tonya who is repeatedly broken down and abused. The ice skating sequences are really terrifically shot too.

I only have vague recollections of the actual incident when it occurred and it happened when I was a kid so I may have missed some things, but did she ever actually ask/order her boyfriend to attack the other skater or did he do it on his own?

It wasn't her idea, although there's uncertainty as to whether she knew about it beforehand.

Last time i've watched "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", and that film is amazing!~
Film adaptation of the novel is highly graded, but for those, who didn't read original, feelings are going to be even more spectacular! I really love every character here and they story. There is no need to have more than one part of the film, because all the events can be filled in one great cup of satisfaction after view. Well, i don't want to have spoiler here, so i suggest you to watch it by yourself)

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge - 7/10

A fast-paced, fun movie with plenty of fittingly brutal and bloody fights. There's very little backstory for anyone other than Scorpion but that doesn't detract from the story and you don't really need to know much about the characters to begin with.
It was a little short for my tastes, clocking in at just under an hour and a half, and I felt that they used the MK X x-ray shots a tad too much. But the positives far outweigh the negatives

Kinda spooky. Slow movie with maybe a few too many face close-ups and slow head turns. Theme of mental illness and maladaptive coping gives something to think about. 8/10

Captain Marvel. Boring plot and Brie Larson was pretty wooden. Also Nick Fury didn't seem all that bothered when his eye was clawed out by a cat alien thing.

My favorite horror movie in years. Not a jump scare kinda thing but real horror. What happens to the daughter left my mouth on the floor, eye's bugged out for minutes. Too bad the writer/ director Ari Aster's next movie was, IMHO, so bad (though it has a few amazing moments). Did you see it? Have you ever seen the original Wicker Man (1973) from which it was inspired?

In a similar vein of subgenre, have you seen Apostle?

Corner of No and Where
I just watched Hellraiser Judgement. Its goofy and intense. The first 15 mins are bonkers. Like gross-out made-me-gag bonkers of vomit, topless women running hands through vomit, and old ladies pouring spit in mouths crazy levels of gross-out. And blood. And a blood money-shot straight out of German fetish porn, not kidding.

The rest is kinda bleh in a not fun bleh way. Its just a bog standard Biblical serial killer with a hard-on. One scene does involve a woman who views her puppy as her kid and it goes...well it goes the exact way you expect it to in a torture porn Hellraiser movie.
And again as with most Hellraiser movies the Cenobites are barely in it. Oh and Angels are real and they're dick, like in Supernatural.

And the Auditor demon totally steals the show from Pinhead. He's hysterical! He's like an IRS agent from hell who makes jokes.
