Came to say this. The ROG laptops are some of the best there are out there, especially when it comes to price/performance.
Alienware is overpriced for what you get and you're really paying for the label and the flashy lights. not to mention the cooling one those things burns like hell.
Hope you would be willing to go up a bit. This is probably his best option for the price.

go with the i5 2500k. Games really don't make use of hyperthreading.
And btw, in a couple years, nvidia will probably move on to a gtx 600 series, in which that would be what you'd want.
