while these have already been mentioned I'd like to throw my support behind Sins of a Solar Empire, its a magnificent game and very cheap and Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, i know its old but its the best RTS around IMO

Ben Counter's Grey Knights, excellent read highly recommended. I just finished Gav Thorpe's Angels of Darkness and wasn't to happy with it, especially when people take Astelan's word as truth
