Professor Abandons Grades for Experience Points

When I was in high school, there was an Algebra teacher who gave students full credit on every homework assignment they turned in, whether the answers were right or not. Once these students got to Geometry, many of them switched out of the "hard" class I was in. It was regular Geometry. The...

I Hit It With My Axe: Episode Two: F*ck. A Medusa.

I don't know about this series. I watched the first episode and was like "ugh." I watched the second episode and was like "ugh." Then I read the relevant posts [http://dndwithpornstars.blogspot.com/search/label/I%20Hit%20It%20With%20My%20Axe] at Zak's blog, and now I want to see episode 5. I...

Escapist News Network: Economic Weather Report

Another great episode. I particularly liked the weather puns.

    Escapist News Network: Lost Leaders

Very nice. It's far better than watching "real" news.

    My Top 30 Games (22 - 19)

I approve of your decision to put a Generation II Pokemon game in here, partially since I liked Pokemon Gold the best. They're all good, but Gen II games were longer than previous games and simpler than subsequent games. Have you played any of the Generation III GTA games (GTA3, Vice City...

    My Top 30 Games (26 - 23)

Overall good, though the Sonic Adventure section was kind of weak because it wasn't really about Sonic Adventure. If you just gave the game the amount of attention you gave the degeneration of the franchise, it would have been good.

    My Top 30 Games (30 - 27)

This was very well written, though I feel the scores are a bit redundant. Since the theme is BoS's Top 30, I would be quite surprised to see a game with a score lower than five. Or even seven.

    Pandorum

The writing style in this review makes it feel as if you're talking fast, which detracts from the effectiveness of your argument. Slow it down, take your time. There's no need for a quick sell. In particular, you try to pack too many ideas into some of your sentences. For example: could be...

    The Problem with Piracy...

You forgot to mention the used-game market. I get a lot of games at prices I'm happy with by waiting a bit and buying them used. $60 Assassin's Creed (or really, anything)? No thanks. $10 Assassin's Creed? Sure. While, like piracy, this doesn't leave any extra money in the dev's pockets...

    fair trade products.

I second the American Apparel recommendation. I don't know about their other products, but the t-shirts are quite nice. Just be aware that they are "slim" fit, so you may need to order a size up.

In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto

In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto is the fifth book by journalist Michael Pollan. It addresses the shortcomings of the Western diet, including the faulty thinking, vague wordings, fads, and diseases associated with it. Pollan (and his associates) conducted extensive research while writing...

Monty Are I - "Break Through the Silence"

I listened to some of the songs from this album and was not impressed. I tend to go by the feel of the music (as opposed to instruments, lyrics, or singer's skill) and Monty Are I felt generic. Not necessarily bad, but certainly not something I would pay money for.

    Poll: Are you a music-addict?

I don't listen to music much. Music distracts me while I'm trying to concentrate, so I only listen to it while doing chores, and even then, it's mostly just so I'll have some accompaniment to my terrible singing.

    Manga Review: Gantz

I read Gantz years ago, and stopped not long after I felt that the characterization was too shallow. People show up, screw around, screw each other, die. Except for the protagonist, who was flat-out annoying. He may have developed into a real leader later, but he had zero redeeming qualities...

    Escapist News Network: Nerd Flu

Quite nice. I look forward to watching this each week. I just hope there's enough noteworthy news each week to support it.
