The swag is cool, it's unfortunate it came bundled with a copy of DNF.

Gearbox didn't make the game. The game was already 90% done when they got it. Please stop perpetuating false information.
I'm sure Gearbox was handed a real mess, but they were willing to release this with their name attached to it so they bare at least some responsibility. No doubt less than 3D Games, and I suspect less than Take Two even. It wouldn't surprise me if Take Two wouldn't let them spend any more time or money fixing this, figuring they were throwing good money after bad - and I'm sure it was Take Two and not Gearbox who were responsible for the pre-release hype.

Why are people hating on the game? I dont get it...

I play it for Pc... dont get any problems, runs fine, it has really good graphics, interactivity with the world, platforming and action scenes (wich breaks from the generic cover/ shoot mechanics), it has a good sense of humour, a good array of weapons, and hey... its over 8 hours... like im comparing to the crappy 4 hour long games you love so much..

Its not the same has the previous nukes... the personna of duke doesnt fit this modern age, and the gameplay is different, but still fun.

The game has puzzles and good details... it plays well, the sound is awesome and works fine...

So could anyone tell me... whats wrong with the game? Cuz i cant find the reason...

Having never played a Duke Nukem title ever (even though I've been playing since before the release of Wolfenstein 3D), I can't speak much about whether or not it is a good game.

But even if DNF is as bad as they say and Gearbox were completely responsible, the way they've been playing this has been earning back coolness points.

And between Opposing Force and Borderlands, they've got plenty of credit in my book.

Now if only Gearbox had made a decent game ...
As one of my friends pointed out, I think you mean 3D Realms. Gearbox just took what was there, fixed it up a bit, finished putting it together, and shipped it out.

Though, he (or myself) could be incorrect in this.

DNF was an awesome game. I really don't understand why all the hate. Unless its more "I'm so grown-up now and this is twaddle!" or people just mad its not CoD.

The only 2 things wrong with it was: 1. The platforming got kind of frustrating. 2. There have been 12 years of crap for Duke to make fun of and while I am glad certain things (halo) did get made fun of it wasn't nearly enough :p

Well played, Gearbox. I salute you. Things like this, and that girl getting a signed copy of Dead Space 2 after her dog chewed up her copy, make me smile.

Hope the author understands that Gearbox didn't really make the game, that they just put what was left together to get it out the door
Everything you saw was a product of the fourteen years 3DRealms left them

I believe the Screwattack website assisted in this:

That's awesome. And yes, say what you will about Gearbox, but they made a business decision in picking up DNF. What better way to get lots of sales than buying a game in progress, and the butt end of the game world for never being released, polishing it off and taking in the money.
A bad business decision. Have you seen the sales figures? They may as well have thrown money out the window and saved the dev. time.

My guess is Gearbox got the IP to get DNF out then make a new Duke Nukem.

Anyway, it's very awesome to see some dedication to a brand get rewarded.

Ok look, we cant go around blaming gearbox for the games failure. Gearbox, as a company is excellent, Duke Nukem was a boat heading towards an irrevocable crash. Gearbox was only able to salvage something of the project. This incident only shows how decent the guys are.

You know, despite what quality the finished game arrived in, I take great joy in knowing that somebody make it big from betting on Duke.

Good for you, Slash. Apparently being a patient, patient man finally paid off.
