Rumor: Survey Spills Details on Dragon Age 3

A BioWare Social Network user claims to have seen the future of Dragon Age 3.

Okay, let's get the obvious thing out of the way first: Technically speaking, Dragon Age 3 doesn't actually exist. Nobody from Electronic Arts or BioWare has ever come out and said, "Yes, we are working on a new Dragon Age game." And with that said and duly dismissed, we may now direct our attention to BioWare Social Network user "Earthborn_Shepard," who claims to have taken a survey that dropped the dime on the next Dragon Age game.

Dragon Age 3 reportedly takes place during a time of trouble in the powerful nation of Orlais. The Templars have broken away from the Chantry, the Mages are rebelling and the world is on the verge of collapse. And then things get really bad.

"A portal between the worlds unleashes hordes of demons in the land, civil wars rip apart nations and the corruption is limitless. Someone is behind the shadows, drawing the threads which destroy the world. Time has come for the Inquisition," according to the plot synopsis, translated from the survey's original German by the wondrous magic of Google. "Take the Inquisitor's cloak and lead the only force able of bringing light into the darkness. Choose the direct method and gather your armies, send spies into the shadows or engage in a political war, make friends and use your connections indirectly: it is up to you how you lead the inquisition. But you'll have to take lead of it from the beginning. Make your player a rogue, warrior or mage and set up your crew from up to ten (!) complex companions to lead them against those who attack you by systematically spying on, revealing and destroying them."

The survey also apparently made mention of a number of potential additions and improvements to the new game, including special finishing moves, lots of "crucial decisions" to be made, better party management with support for up to four companions at a time, and perhaps most interesting of all, online co-op gameplay. It also included links to concept art for in-game characters and companions, and asked what respondents thought of some possible titles:

Dragon Age 3: The Breach
Dragon Age 3: Exarch
Dragon Age 3: Inquisition
Dragon Age 3: Inquisitor
Dragon Age 3: Apocrypha

It's all purely rumor and could very well be nothing but a bunch of home-cooked nonsense, and at least one related thread [http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/315/index/13661809/1] has since been closed by a BioWare moderator as a "troll thread." But there's enough info dumped to give it at least a veneer of credibility, too. Is it? Isn't it? I don't know. But if it is, I hope they can come up with a better name than the options on offer. Throne of Shale, maybe?

I am squealing like a little girl! Eeeek!

Okay, okay. DA:O is one of my favorite games out there. DA2 was good but maybe not as good as DA:O. But good anyway (Shut up, it was). So I'm obviously eager to see DA3 hit the shelves, preferably before the next gen of consoles arrives. Heck, I don't even care about the already planned DLC. Just gimme the game!

And if I may speculate more: If it's gonna take place somewhere in Orlais, maybe we'll see Leliana again? Dunno, could be. and I imagine the co-op would work much like White Knight Chronicles or...any other MMORPG out there.

Now I'll sit and wait.

I might have believed it until I got to the part where it said 10 complex companions. Unless BW is doing an about face on their stance towards less team members for more personal/deeper relationships they touted for ME3 I don't see it as being real.

If DA3 does what ME3 did (incorporate some of the best elements from the first two games), minus the shit-tastic ending, it will be a great game.

They're taking their sweet time on it, and that's what I like to see.

Please...just have tactical, non-wave based combat, a typhoon of dialogue choices and branches like DA:O, and you can keep the silly AZN combat. Just don't be a hub-based wave fighter with incredibly terse companion/NPC dialogue.

Basically, all the good of DA:O, but they can keep DA2's combat.
For the Michael Bay mouthbreathers.

Skeptical yet curious. I really liked Origins on my first few playthroughs and Dragon Age 2 was a massive colossal crushing disappointment in comparison and I really regretted preordering it (and Mass Effect 2). I play to wait for the reviews and then the following user reviews before I even consider buying it when it comes out.

A whole game with dodgy French accents? Get John Cleese to voice all of them and I might buy it. Otherwise Bioware has lost it... They lost me at
DA2 (demo only) and ME2 (whole game).

You know I have to wonder why BioWare thinks they need to include world destroying antagonists in every game they make. I mean Game of Thrones has proven that you don't need things like that to crank the tension up to 11. And before anyone says "what about the Whitewalkers" Only a fraction of the drama even involves them and they've not exactly proven themselves that sort of threat, only thing that happens is people say "Oh dear not the Whitewalkers" *go pale and faint*

It sounds interesting but it also sounds quite DA2-ish so my "This is going to suck"- senses are tingling.

I'm excited. Really excited. Dragon Age 3 is probably the game I'm most looking forward to. If I could have picked any one game to be made, it'd be Dragon Age 3. Dragon Age 2 is bar none my favorite video game of all time and I can't wait for Dragon Age 3. I just hope they keep the snarky dialogue options, the friendship/rivalry system, and the awesome companions (and, of course, that they let you romance any of them with any type of character)

I've been on this like a hawk...no DA2 pun intended.

I'm cautiously excited though. Maybe they'll do the whole "war assets" thing better than ME3 did.

They did have one game where you're not out to save the entire universe from impending doom. It was called Dragon Age 2, and everyone was just so grateful for the change of pace there weren't they?

Nothing is worth Origin, and Bioware broke faith with its fans a LONG time ago. So fuck you and your Dragon Age 3 (which may not even exist). Besides, the plot proposed above is idiotic.
