Recently, a 13 year old British boy became a father to his 15 year old girlfriends baby. I won't say too much because the article isn't long, so I'll leave it up to you to read about it. I just want to know, is this one of the worst things that society has done to it's youth?

Also, I think that the child should be taken from them, mainly because of this:
"When asked how he is going to cope financially, Alfie replied, bemused, 'What's financially?'"

EDIT: Added FoxNews link

There are so many things wrong with it I'll only list them if I have to. The only question I have is who's going to take care of the baby?

Well at least he shows initiative.
He is acting better then quite a few 25 year old fathers.

Regardless they should teach kids to "wrap it" so this doesn't happen.

This is one of those situations where I don't even know how to respond. I'm pretty sure everybody that hears this story is thinking the exact same thing (something along the lines of "How dumb, haven't you heard of a condom, what is a 13 year old doing having sex...") I'm just gonna leave it at that I guess. I really don't know what else to say. Wow.

correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't The Sun a tabloid type magazine? It is here in the States as far as I know, so anyone from UK want to confirm or deny it? I ask because at the bottom of the article is a link to the original article from The Sun for the UK.

I second that, it's ridiculous that most schools, including my own, are only allowed to teach abstinence because teaching contraception would be condoning sexual behaviors. Seriously, people, we've gone past trying to stop it from happening, what we need now is damage control.

This is why minors should not have sex. I just hope that their parents can support them and the baby until they both turn 18. I am against giving the baby to the state because I don't trust any government with anything fragile.

Oh for god sakes. He's 13! Haven't these two ever heard of a condom.
Nope, I guess not.
Well it's also good to see that he's been at the hospital everyday. He's proving to be a better dad then most teenagers, or guys in there twenties.

The Sun is a leading British news paper, as far as I know. Additionally, it is also our closest star...

In other news, the questions of "why is a 15 year old girl having sex with a 13 year old boy?" and "why didn't she have an abortion?" have not been asked.

The first one seems odd to me: kids usually have a thing against non-same-age couples.

The second of my questions will no doubt bring about a heated argument that is beside the point: she's fifteen! You can't say that's planned, now her and her kid are going to have a worse start in life than people deserve. With any luck, they'll all pull through fine, and learn from the experience, but I can see some issues developing in their near future.

The ironic thing is when I clicked on the link for the video, a pop-up came up for the dumb test. I couldn't help but laugh.

Oh lord. The mind boggles. I'm surprised each family isn't suing the other for rape or something... unless the laws in the UK are differnet. I know in the US, if two people consent to sex, but are both underaged, technically, it's rape, and each family can be sued by the other. Is that how it works in the UK, or not?

Just curious, but if the kid's voice hadn't cracked when the article was written, and the child was conceived a year before, can someone explain to me how a prepubescent twelve year old boy managed to...um, well you know?

I understand that the girl might be having sex, and of course contraception should have been drilled into their minds, but for Christ's sake, this boy was twelve when he had sex! Twelve! Screw contraception, he shouldn't legally be able to have sex!
It is. Or at least, I think it is? What's the rule? Like, the five-year rule, or something? Damn, I can never get it straight.

Sue? Rape is illegal here (in Australia) and the UK. Sue nothing. Press charges. Criminal conviction. But there minors still, so a slap on the wrist the first time and some detention room with barbed wire for a couple of weeks each other time.

That kid didn't even look like he started puberty. I have nothing against non-same age couples, but 12 is too young to be having sex. I barely understood sex at 12 and I watched movies(not porn) with it.

3. how hard is it to find a condom just go to a cinema or pizza hut They always have condom machines if all else fails go to the damn clinic they give them for free

4. this is not surprising since his name is alfie

5. abortion ? after moring pill ? or just anyway to not screw up your life ?

6. to me this is not surprising although when he said "whats financially ?" i'm going to take a guess and say he's from the higher parts of england and is "a council kid" (that terms meaning changes alot so what you might be thinking about that term could be mistaken)

7. 15 year old ? dating 13 year old ? damn some kids REALLY need to be thought about MASTRUBATION

Yes the Sun is a tabloid, but here is a more reliable source if you want it.

Er, how do you figure? That has nothing to do with this article, as far as I can see.
I might be missing something, it's 2 AM here, but.
Yeah I posted on the wrong thread because I'm retard and I didn't get any sleep last night. Happy now.
