Preorder Dragon Age 2, Get a Free Signature Edition Upgrade

Gamers who preorder Dragon Age 2 [http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Age-2-Playstation-3/dp/B003UFAZZW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1287082034&sr=8-3] before January 11, 2011, will automatically be upgraded to the BioWare Signature Edition of the game, featuring $20 of additional content at no extra charge.

The Bioware Signature Edition of Dragon Age 2 is a sexy little package. It includes not only the anticipated follow-up to BioWare's hit RPG Dragon Age: Origins [http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Age-Origins-Pc/dp/B001IK1BWC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1287084245&sr=8-1], but also a whole bunch of extra stuff: A download code for a bonus playable character and missions, a downloadable soundtrack, an "exclusive in-game digital armory" featuring weapons like the Adder of Antiva and Might of the Sten, and additional downloadable items, all wrapped up in a unique Signature Edition box. Best of all, it's a free upgrade for anyone who preorders Dragon Age 2 before January 11 of next year. And only those who preorder will get it; BioWare says that after January 11, the Signature Edition will not be available for preorder or purchase.

"The BioWare Signature Edition of Dragon Age 2 is a chance for us to reward loyal fans who preorder the game by providing them with additional high-quality content for free," said BioWare [http://www.bioware.com] co-founder Ray Muzyka.

It's also a great way for EA [http://www.ea.com] to get two birds stoned at once by rolling its Project Ten Dollar program into the near-obligatory preorder bonus that accompanies almost every major videogame release these days. That may sound cynical but it's not actually a complaint; I'm quite happy to get free stuff no matter how it's handed out.

How the BioWare Signature Edition will jibe with a Dragon Age 2 Collector's Edition, assuming one is released (and I think that's a fairly safe assumption), remains to be seen. I suppose it's possible that this is the Collector's Edition, although that would be kind of a letdown; as a Signature Edition it's great, but I really expect more from my Collector's Editions. Dragon Age 2 in all its variations is set for release on March 8 for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

This, and the fact that there's no Steam option at the moment, are the two things keeping me from placing a pre-order for it. I already know I'm going to buy the game when it launches.

everything I've seen so far on Dragon Age 2 looks like they are just messing up the series. I'd like to see more gameplay before deciding to buy it.

Thats really a disappointment to me, I really liked the first one. Bioware has been making awesome stuff and I'd hate to see them fumble this.

This is at the top of my 'To Get' list for next year. I really hope this makes it to Steam, which is the only reason I haven't pre-ordered it already.

still debating over ps3 or PC version, if they have no mods on PC then I will go with PS3 becuase I liked the combat of the original... Though if they don't have a way to transfer my ps3 file to the PC version which they have hinted at, then I might have to get the ps3 version...

Well either way it shall be fun. :)

The question for me is will I miss out on collectors edition stuff by getting sig' or vice versa? I'll need to know what collector offers.

Yeah, I'm a bit cynical on this. IF this is just the collectors edition....fine, I'll pre-order. If this is a middle-ground between bare-bones copy and the collectors......sorry, Bioware, you guys are assholes.

EDIT: I will still be getting SWTOR from you guys though. You're assholes, but I needs me some Star Wars MMO goodness.

I loved Dragon Age: Origins and I can understand how someone can be pessimistic about Dragon Age 2 due to how different it is. Since I want to make more smart purchases and avoid mistakes I decided to wait until gameplay videos arrive before making a decision. How about we all do that before we bash the game?

OT: Doesn't seem that impressive. Hopefully and overpriced collectors edition containing insane stuff(like a full sized statute of the archdemon!)will be unveiled.

This. I hate it when companies shout out big preorder bonuses and forget about the "only in parts of the US" legal print, as I'm quite sure it is with this "free stuff for preorder" as well.

No, when I said "where" I meant "what store".

Dunno, i checked a few of my local Polish retailers and they all seem to be up to date with that offer, i suppose official EA digital download store is also included.

I don't follow your logic. Bioware are being assholes by automatically upgrading the pre-ordered copies of Dragon Age 2 to a Signature Edition?

How is that a bad thing in any way, shape or form?

Yeah I don't care, I relly don't like that style of dull gameplay which goes like this, click on thing watch die, repeat.

Gotta agree with you there. The art style in particular seems pretty shit.
Disagree with both of you. As much as I like DA:O, the gameplay was lackluster and the art style was unoriginal and derivative. I think DA2 is moving in the right direction.

I'll pre-order it on Steam when the option is available. I would probably get all of that content anyway sooner or later. I love Bioware too much.

So glad to hear that you're willing to try our MMO in spite of believing that we're all apparently assholes. You're too kind.
