Pictures of New Silent Hill Movie Show Off Old Monsters and New Faces

The movie tells the story of Silent Hill 3, but apparently not exactly the same way.

A fresh batch of images from the set of Silent Hill: Revelations 3D, a sequel to 2006's Silent Hill movie, has revealed some of what we can expect in the upcoming film. Not only are a there some old hands returning, like the faceless nurse monsters, there's also at least one brand new character that's never been seen in the Silent Hill franchise before.

The movie is loosely based on Silent Hill 3, starring Adelaide Clemens as Heather Mason and Sean Bean as Chris Da Silva/Harry Mason. Much like the game, Heather discovers that she's not who she thought she was, and this revelation leads her to the cursed town of Silent Hill. Radha Mitchell and Deborah Kara Unger, who played Rose Da Silva and Dahlia Gillespie in the first movie respectively, will also appear in the Revelations.

In terms of new faces, Carrie Anne Moss, probably best known for playing Trinity in the Matrix movies, will play cult leader Claudia Wolf, who - as you can see from the pictures - has a certain fondness for wearing white. Malcolm McDowell, who sadly doesn't appear in the pictures, will play Leonard Wolf, Claudia's father, and Kit Harrington, who played Jon Snow in HBO's Game of Thrones will play Vincent.

There's also at least one completely new character, in the form of Suki. Nothing is known about the character, except that she is played by model Heather Marks. Of course, it's not the first time a Silent Hill movie has featured new characters: the first film's protagonist had never appeared in any of the games and was created expressly for the movie. As yet, there's no information about what her role in the movie will be.

The first Silent Hill movie was arguably one of the best videogame adaptations in recent years, even if it wasn't one of the most faithful, so hopefully the sequel will be of a similar calibre. The fact that it's going to be in 3D doesn't inspire a huge amount of confidence, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it will be a bad movie.

Silent Hill: Revelations 3D is set to hit theaters some time next year.

No Sean Bean? Awwww :(
/Sean Bean fanboy

I would go see this if it comes out in 2D too. 3D gives me headaches. Seeing as the first movie was half decent (for a video game film). At least it was 4-5x better than 'Dead of Alive'.

But... but, the nurses don't belong in a Silent Hill film unless the main character is James Sunderland.

The same goes for Pyramid Head if he happens to make an appearance (which you know he will).

Okay, call me a... umm... something bad, but I dismissed this as soon as I saw the "3D" on the end.

That's not to say 3D is evil, or that it never works, but "Silent Hill 3D"? Come on. That's just silly.

I've got to wonder if this continues the story from the first movie. If I remember right the ending didn't leave as much wiggle room for this storyline as the first game did.

As for the nurses you'd think they'd change the design to fit more with the slient hill 3 monsters but oh well.

Malcolm McDowell being in the film leads me to believe this should go straight to dvd.

Which sucks, cause I really liked the first movie.
I like malcolm McDowell...but true, he gets cast in a whole lotta crap.

The first film was a solid hour and a half full o' mindf*** imagery, but nothing really more. This film...I ain't sure. Hopefully it comes closer to the damn game this time. A little, at least.

hopefully it will be good. I liked the first one so this one may be good as well. As long as they don't do anything that seems stupid in the SH universe and keep up with the creepy visuals, I'll watch it.

The problem with the Silent Hill franchise is that they aren't making full use of it's backstory, the games and movies have untold amounts of material they can use and they just seem to waste it.

As far as I recall the monsters that appear in the town and the things that happen are a reflection of the mind of the current unlucky sod to wander into it, that leaves so much room for new monsters, locations and story that it just baffles me as to why it isn't utilised.
