A wonderful read with some great posts from fellow firearms enthusiasts in this thread.
I've only recently gotten into personally owning firearms, though I had never turned down a chance to go to the range with my friends. I've been gaming for about 20 years. I will admit, that when I first shot a firearm, I did understand a few basics just due to some tac shooters I had played. I.e. maintaining my breathing during shots, bullet drop, etc. but I still had the utmost respect for the firearm and did not treat it like a toy when I first shot one.
Like others, I enjoy the mental challenge of firearms shooting, and also the mechanical nature of them. Do I own a few guns? Yep, 5 at the moment. Hell, my last purchase was a pistol I bought on the cheap side soley because it is a fixer upper and it's good to learn how to troubleshoot things you own. Am I some lunatic because I am both a video game and firearm enthusiast? Nope.
Thankfully, the retards out there that think they know firearms just because they've played Counterstrike or Call of Duty are easily spotted from a mile away, and any good gun store owner will tell them to fuck off.
