Streaming Porn Service Coming to Next Xbox

SugarDVD, the adult video service that began streaming onto consoles last year, has confirmed that it will be available on the new Xbox.

We all had a good giggle last year [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/116779-Streaming-Porn-Service-Blasts-the-PS3] when SugarDVD launched its streaming porn service for the PlayStation 3, but I also predicted at the time that it would be a hit nonetheless. And although I don't have hard numbers to back it up, the fact that it's still available on the PS3 (and the Xbox 360, Wii U, Ouya, iPad, Android and other platforms) speaks for itself, as does the announcement that it'll be coming on the new Xbox, set to be revealed to the world on May 21.

SugarDVD starts at $7.95 for unlimited streaming service and also offers options for DVD rentals through the mail and "Pay-Per-Minute" viewing - because hey, who watches these things for more than a few minutes at a time, am I right? There's even a free trial, for those who aren't 100 percent clear about what's on offer here.

Game consoles these days are "multimedia entertainment delivery systems," and "Any console would benefit from having unlimited HD adult content at the click of a button," said SugarDVD rep Rebecca Bolen. And she's right: You may not be terribly inclined to put your copy of Scale Bustin' Babes 41 on the shelf next to Gears of War 3, but that doesn't mean there's not a big demand for this stuff. Sex sells, and sometimes you just have to mash your button a little bit. It's normal!

Does anybody else find it strange that a bigger deal hasn't been made over this?

Not because it should be an issue, but considering PG13 sex scenes in games cause such outrage half of the time, I'd expect the "angry ignorant parent" collective to be causing a fuss and claiming that console developers are trying to sell porn to kids.

EDIT: On a side note, does this mean that Microsoft will start selling anti-bacterial controller wipes as an accessory?

I could be wrong, but this isn't an app, is it? This just means it's compatible with the web browser. I've never seen the app on the PS3.

This just makes me wonder why exactly console manufacturers do not license adult content. The median age of gamers has gone up, and cable companies offer adult content behind a paywall, so why not adult videogames?

Good chance they have no idea such a thing exists. I doubt you'd see this advertised outside of most major gaming sites. Not particularly likely you'll have Soccer Mums going into EB/Gamestop and seeing posters advertising porn on consoles all over the place.

It does kind of feel like two steps forward, one step back. Maybe they should make it so sex in video games is taken seriously before offering full on hardcore porn.

Then again, the p[orn industry is pretty huge, isn't it? So having them on the side of video games COULD help, I think.

I too am suprised that the Angry Christian Mothers Society haven't called for blood already, especially if this is on the WiiU which I am led to believe is aimed at families. Maybe they have given up? Shit, maybe I've jinxed it! Noone say anything.
