I just can't get over how fucked up it would be to see a shooting on Stickam. Watching multiple people die, but personally, in a way and medium that is close to actually being there. Doing it. It's just... weird.

What a weird piece of news. 4chan, who usually care more about cats than people, told the FBI about a threat of school shooting instead of exorting him to beat the 'high score', because the FBI apparently can't be arsed to read the publically available website where what they consider a terrorist group convene.

Um, yay? kinda unusual for anyone to take anyone on the internet seriously, but glad that it is probably a good thing that came from that.

Sorry Escapist, I find it amusing that you say that what he said was "no joke", yet an article that was posted a few weeks back said that a man having a wii console thrown at his face, yes his ACTUAL FACE, was funny.

Does everyone the FBI arrest just happen to have child porn floating around on their PC's?

Do they plant that shit just for the luls or what?
You've noticed that too, lol. It's like "a man on got in trouble on the internet for something today. Oh, and he had child porn." It must be like some kind of requirement to join the evil people society or something.

The FBI doesn't have the time to read Internet forums looking for threats. That's why they have a tipline.

Uninformed Thread Parent is Uninformed. /b/ [http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Swirl_Face] is [http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Kenny_Glenn_The_Animal_Abuser] always [http://shrani.si/f/1Y/8M/36D3Vl53/4chanlovemachine.jpg] nice [http://www.funnyjunk.com/showcomment/8723876/].

Also, thank you for propagating the mistaken impression that 4chan <=> /b/. It's really great for the site's reputation, and I love nothing more than living among a swarm of innocent, yet misinformed idiots.

Can't lie, I straight up lol'd and yet was not the least bit surprised.

OT: Glad 4chan can occasionally use its scary stalking powers for good once in a while.

I hope he gets the charge reduced for the murder threats.

No, I'm seriously. I know he had child porn, and he should pay the price for that. But it sounds like his 'threats' were a joke. A sick joke, a bad joke, a joke that can't be easily distinguished from a legitimate threat- except in retrospect. It is still a crime, but degree matters in criminal law. If they find no other evidence that he ever planned to hurt anyone, he probably didn't.

The Random board (/b/) on 4chan brings violent criminals, child pornographers and ordinary folks together like no other site I know. I think hanging out there warps peoples' perceptions about consequences and what is permissible, particularly those who are not well adjusted and think they are safe from prosecution. You go there for funny pictures, but get exposed to things you would otherwise never see without seeking them out.

This is not the first time I have read an article about someone who frequents 4chan doing horrible things on the internet, even when they seem to act normally in other contexts. I am not saying that this man is not responsible for his actions or that the 4chan site is, I just hope someone brings up these potentially harmful effects before he is sentenced.

Doesn't the FBI say they find child porn on the computer of everyone they raid, so they don't look like idiots and have to say, "Yeah, sorry, we raided your house cause 4chan told us to."

I don't know. People threatening acts of extreme violence like that can be justified raiding a computer even if they get it wrong sometimes. The risk of embarrassment doesn't outweigh the risk of someone being serious.

Well guys, hope he has a very special place in a very small cell for a very long time with a very big BFF, stuff like this disgusts me.

And speaking of disgust, 4chan is pretty good at bringing that out of me, but now we see it might not be so bad after all.

Until I go on /b/ later and retract that statement immediately for whatever horrific image I see.
