Multilayered TV screens and video game support for it so yoiu can get true 3d.

I've given it a bit of thought, but what if you had 10 translucent screens infront of eachother and you had foreground graphics at the front and background graphics at the deepest levels of the layered screens?

Rather than a single bed of light-inducing cells. Having multiple beds of cells so you can creatye true depth rather than simulated depth.

I admit the technology would be extremely difficult but imagine how pwnsome consoles would be if it had access to that technology?

PC always pwns in the end because of customisation, flexibility, practicality and gameplay. But having a tv that can access the power of true 3d as opposed to trying to manufacture 3D from a single bed of light refractive cells Would make consoles immortal o.o

I think video games would be difficult to make for it .... in that games are interactive, whereas movies would just create playback information for each bed of cells ...

lol .. sorry my post denigrated to the 'better graphics' in the end ... but true 3D would pwn @.@
That would be hard to pull off, yet if it worked it would be awesome. But really, could they make that readily profitible for themselves and cheap enough for gamers in ten years time? I some how doubt it.

I'd like to see a step back towards the styles of older games, think what they could do with that creativity when combined with modern day storage methods and processing?
Games that are FUN, not just pretty.

I'd love to see the dream of open world to become a reality. They're currently trying very hard but a distinct breakthrough is still lacking. I was hoping Heavy Rain to bring a new spark, but after some gameplay clips I'm not holding up much hope on that front. Simply allow me to break into that warehouse by cracking a window instead of having to use one of the doors. Why can't I just drive a truck through that wooden wall? Why can't I wait for the guards to change shifts or fall asleep in the middle of the night?
Hey now, I think that's expecting a wee bit too much from them. As far as I've seen, Heavy Rain gives the players alot of choices, far more than I've seen in any other game so far.

As for what I'd like to see? Well, I already know what's going to happen, but where's the fun in spoiling it for all of you?

i would LOVE to see a game with a little more creativity to it, games like Mirrors Edge, but done better, it seems like they are just remaking old games or the same drivel (GoW/Halo/etc.)

Ok two things that you may find interesting:
1. Nvidia have some 3d goggle like things on the market, and while expensive I've only heard good things
2. You're desciption of layer tvs isn't going to be that unfeesable as hologram displays become more popular (I think they work by prjecting up into a mist of water).
High fives all round :)
I hate goggles @.@ They give me a headache ;.; Plus then you'd have to cart them to your friend's place to play a true 3d game ....

I like the idea of Holograms but I don't see them as being feasible before a multilayered tv or some sort of projection unit.

I could be wrong and they might be available in 10 years or so ... but I just cant see them working very well ... I mean, you need to create the medium(mist or liquid as the case may be) at a particular vicosity for it to work .... meaning that the core temperature would have to be perfect .... and I just don't see how it would work o.o;

Like if it were a 'mist' it would require a high refractory rate like water ... or possibly even N2 .... but both of them require such extreme high or low temperatures (well less extreme for water obviously, but still need it to be bloody hot) both inside the module and outside the module to stop condensation and maintain stability in the medium.

If a holgram was to work, I think it would only be achievable with a type of crystalline or gelatinous mass .... Gelatine can be store well in temperatures ranging from 3 Celcius all the way to 60 (so suitable for even the hottest climates of the world ... and with proper room heating, even in the coldest locations of the world).

And even if you had holograms, although 3d ... the definition wouldnt be better than modern tvs o.o

Then you need a Video camera capable of recording true 3d, which means making video recorders that use a 3d receptor ... as opposed to a computer chip that would automatically record different streams by distance from target and pronunciation of refracted light o.o

I don't see holograms being an effective media device personally X.x but I could be wrong <.<
I don't know enough about the tech to argue that, however I would expect if they were to do a 3d type thing by layering holograms to create a 3d effect, I would expect the back layer to be HD tv (or whatever the fad is in 10 years time). No idea when it would realisticially become viable, but I would think it must be insanely good picture for people to bother investing in it originially.

Yeah, they're expanding on the story front, not the world building front.

Red Faction would've made for a better illustration there.

Somehow it escaped my mind at the time.

There are a lot of concepts I would love to see come alive. My dream game is a simplistic but Oblivion-esque style multiplayer game. Somewhat of a cross between Counterstrike and Oblivion. Just like a 7 versus 7 FPRPG. No levels involved. Just skill-based, first person fantasy-medieval combat. Would be an insanely awesome game.

Incidently if anyone knows of anything already like that, I would love to hear it.

In terms of improvement in software and hardware, I would at least like to see a few more steps towards virtual reality. I'm already up to date on its current standing, but I mean proper virtual reality where you're almost completely cut off from real life and have complete control of your virtual host.

EDIT: a virtual reality Oblivion is win.

First, I want to see a new Nintendo console that takes the idea of motion sensive controls that they began with the Wii and fix it. Its a great idea, but the Wii remote needs to scrapped.

I'm personally am very intreaged by this new technology that could allow us to control games with our mind. No, Im serious, its real.

I know we're not supposed to say better graphics, but it seems like graphics just haven't advanced like they used to. For instance, compare Deus Ex, a game released in 2000, to Far Cry, a game released in 2004. Now compare Far Cry to Crysis Warhead, released in 2008. Far Cry seems like a much bigger leap in graphics. Or maybe it's just me.

Otherwise, I'd love to see games with either more focus on ingame story (as in more like Bioshock or Half-Life's ingame clues as opposed to MGS's huge cutscenes), and bigger gaming worlds with less load times.

Turn-based psychological horror games.

And a game -with a storyline- that requires two players together to actually play through. Not much marketability but DAMN would it be interesting.

Basically, new stuff we haven't seen before.

Less Devs relying on Online to fix games and less focus on online to begin with, MOAR content without monthly payments to "Build" the already made game.

Some well crafted plots in games to make them unforgettable: Bioshock without it's story would be nowhere near as praised otherwise.

More Original Games: I'm not saying they all need to create new genres or something but take notes from Portal in that respect.

Duke Nukem Forever.

Although we could be looking at more than 10 years.
