I don't have any friends. I haven't had any friend requests because I'm new and not all that gobsmackingly awesome that I instantly impulse someone to add me, and I've not added anyone because, frankly put, I'm rather wary that suddenly requesting someone befriend me when I only joined a few days ago might ring of a massive ego.

I have 49 friends and I only ever see like 5/6 of them online anymore so I don't talk to thema great deal. I just add somebody as a friend if I have a bit crack on with them in a thread or I like their attitudes.
I have zero....well on the escapist I do. As for the other forums I visit, I just usually befriend anybody who sends a request. Doesn't matter to me.
My friends are either those who play some of my forum games or have said something in the past which entertained me greatly.
Although I'll admit a few exceptions to those rules if their name has either "Neon" or "bob" in them.
Because I'm an egotistical bastard at times.
And I do try to talk with the people I'm around more.
I think I usually have about 5 conversations going on at a time.
When I don't, I feel quite odd.

I generally wait for people to befriend me. It's usually because we chatted on a forum and had similar opinions, or an in-joke.
I don't talk to them though. I mean... they're on the internet. It's like 50/50 if they're a paedo. lulz

Exactly this. I started out just adding a few people for good reasons. I think Mobius/Jallil was the first person I added. Then my standards started slipping and I added people who I simply agreed with. Now, however, they've gone back up. Well, I don't tend to connect with people seriously that often so I send friend requests to people who have good posts and people who have anime(not counting Naruto) avatars.
Honestly? I might mention a couple after I've added them if I see them on the forums, but most of the time we never talk again. I do make sure that I like them first though, so I won't add some random asshole.
Besides, about a quater of my friends appear to have been destroyed by the banhammer anyways, like the once-dominant Indigo_Dingo... shame he was banned... oh wells, stuff like this happens, and I'm sure the mods had their reasons.
